Season 9 is the ninth season of Death Battle. It premiered on March 28th, 2022, and concluded on December 21st, 2022. It consisted of 16 episodes and a Bonus episode.
Death Battle started a paid YouTube membership, allowing members to gain access to exclusive badges, emotes, behind-the-scenes content, and the ability to watch DEATH BATTLE Cast live on YouTube, similar to a Rooster Teeth FIRST membership. Members were even able to collectively vote for twomatchups to happen in the following season.
As a result, the Season Finale showed off the two winning matchups of the poll instead of teasing six combatants.
Continuing from the updated YouTube release of Saitama VS Popeye, clips of the combatants at the end of their analyses were removed to prevent the risk of YouTube copyright-claiming episodes because of them.
The start of the post-analyses don't cut to Wiz and Boomstick.
Comparison panels return since their last appearance in Wolverine VS Raiden, albeit as one full slide instead of two separate ones.
All episodes' reveal trailers are released separately as YouTube Shorts, starting with Trunks VS Silver.
Wiz and Boomstick receive slightly different mouth animations in the latter half of the season, with Wiz opening his mouth wider and Boomstick showing a little fewer teeth.
Sponsor segments were moved from after the preludes to before the preludes, with an additional one appearing in between the combatant analyses if there are two sponsors for an episode.
Discounting mythologies, Season 9 is tied with Season 10 for the third highest amount of new series introduced with 15 (League of Legends, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Invincible, Akira, Journey to the West, Predator, Warframe, 007, John Wick, SpongeBob SquarePants, Friday the 13th, Halloween, The Lord of the Rings, Warcraft, and Black Clover), after Season 1 and Season 2, and followed by Season 5, Season 3, Season 6, Season 8, Season 4, and Season 7.
This is the first season to:
not have any 'Battle of the Genders' themed episodes.
not have any combatants from Nintendo or Capcom.
not have any combatants from Fighting Games.
not have any Comic Book VS Cartoon-themed episodes.
