Among Us VS Fall Guys is the 191st episode and '24 Finale of Death Battle, featuring Crewmates and The Impostors from the Among Us series and Fall Guys from the Fall Guys series in a battle between bean-shaped indie game competitors.
Interlude
As the title card plays, the round start theme from Among Us is heard instead of the normal music.
Wiz: The year was 2020, the long wait as we all experienced the most viral sensation of recent years. It was...
Wiz & Boomstick by Brandon Yates ![]() ![]() |
Wiz: Among Us!
Boomstick: Nah, Fall Guys was the biggest news that year.
We cut to Wiz and Boomstick.
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.
Among Us
Technological Treason by Serj Tankian ![]() |
Wiz: In the lonely dark of space aboard a malfunctioning vessel, a peculiar crew of bean-shaped astronauts must work together to save their souls from a quiet demise.
Boomstick: Tons of stuff could go wrong at any moment, and it's up to these colorful clowns to fix it. Impressive, since their space suits don't seem to have any arms.
Wiz: Oh, that's not actually a suit; that's just how they are.
Boomstick: Wait, what? Ewwww! Why?
Wiz: More on that later. The tasks they undertake to save their ship require varying degrees of difficulty and skill. It may not take much to reconnect some wires in the cafeteria, but it certainly does to clear asteroids when your ship is moving faster than light.
Boomstick: If— if that's not a suit, then why do they have a cafeteria when they don't have a mouth?
Wiz: At any point, these creatures must draw from medical training, electrical skills, and mechanical know-how.
Boomstick: Okay, but it's total chaos, so teamwork is key. They got to spread out and trust while they're all swiping cards, they have each other's backs... right?
Wiz: Well, success is always uncertain, as though fate has placed some external force that stands between this species and their survival.
The Round start theme from Among Us is heard again.
Boomstick: There's an Impostor among them!...
Boomstick: ...I mean, among us!
We cut to Wiz and Boomstick as Crewmates in the Skeld's cafeteria, the latter leaning in towards the former as he speaks.
Boomstick: But not us, though. Right, Wiz? Riiiight?
We cut back to the analysis.
Wiz: For the ninth time, I'm not an Impostor!
Boomstick: That's just what an Impostor would say! They're shapeshifting aliens! They could be anyone! Or any mad scientist in a lab coat...
Wiz: Ugh... The Impostor threatens the pack and pushes them towards extinction by any means necessary — anything from damaging lights to wrecking the ship's reactor.
Boomstick: Which can be tricky to fix in time! Even though Impostors are naturally skilled at crawling through the vents, the Crewmates need special engineer training to do the same, so not all of them can McClane it up.
Wiz: All while the Impostors conceal their motivations and infiltrate the herd. The others always know something isn't right, and the Impostors use that paranoia to motivate their prey into ejecting each other into space...
An animation plays showing the Death Battle team as Crewmates ejecting Red into space as the message "sussus amogus was An Impostor." appears next to them.
Wiz: ...just for being kinda... sus.
The music abruptly stops right as Wiz finishes his sentence and, immediately thereafter, the emergency button is pressed, initiating an emergency meeting between him, Boomstick, Ringmaster, Jocelyn, and DUMMI.
Boomstick: Yeah, Wiz is the Impostor.
Ringmaster: Hmm... he does seem to know an awful lot about these aliens... and, just to put it out there, it isn't me.
Jocelyn: That's a good point. Have you ever heard him say "sus"?
Wiz: N— n— no! Wh— what do you mean? Knowing a lot is literally my job.
DUMMI: (loud voice through microphone) I concur!
Ringmaster: Ah! My ear canals!
Boomstick: Ah, geez! Fix your mic, DUMMI!
Jocelyn: I agree with the metal bowling ball.
Ringmaster: Well, I knew the sussy baka from the start!
Ringmaster places his vote.
Ringmaster: And, again, just to be very clear, it isn't me!
Jocelyn places her vote too.
Jocelyn: Same here!
Wiz and DUMMI place their votes as well.
Wiz: Oh, come ON! Anyone could be the Impostor, Boomstick. I— it's completely random!
Boomstick: Hmm... "random" starts with "R" and so does— Oh, I know who it is! It's always the red one!
Boomstick places his vote. With the voting session over, it's revealed that Wiz received two votes from Ringmaster and Jocelyn while Ringmaster received three from Wiz, DUMMI, and Boomstick.
Ringmaster: Hahahah! Wait, what?! But i— it isn't me!
Ringmaster gets ejected out to outer space due to having the most votes.
Ringmaster: It isn't meeee...!
Text appears, saying...
Ringmaster was An Impostor.
1 Impostor remains.
Wiz: Oh right, there's usually two Impostors.
Boomstick: Dear god!
We cut back to the analysis.
Digital Gauge by Kikbak ![]() ![]() |
Wiz: The Impostors aren't just tricksters; they're also hunters. Bloodhounds tracking and assassinating Crewmates when they least expect it.
Boomstick: They'll snap their necks, stab them with a knife, shoot 'em with a Desert Eagle, or use their freakin' tongues to impale their faces— Oh, god! Right through the visor!
Wiz: They may look like they're wearing spacesuits, but that's not a visor; that is their actual face. Examining their cross-section reveals their insides always match the color of their bodies, and that they're comprised of exactly one large bone, which must mean their ability to walk is entirely muscle-based. Their whole anatomy is one unsolvable mystery.
Boomstick: Ewwww! They've got human toes, buff arms for no reason, and can stretch like Mister Fantastic? What are these freaky things?!
Wiz: No one knows. They don't even exist within the same realm of mortality as you or I. Even if one of them is killed or ejected into the lifeless void of space, they return as a ghost...
Haunted Orchestra by Liam David Quinn ![]() ![]() |
Wiz: Invisible, incorporeal, unable to communicate with the living, but nonetheless still... among us.
Boomstick: Even beyond death, they can plot the demise of other crew.
Wiz: Or become Guardian Angels for the living by literally shielding them.
Boomstick: That's gotta be one tough shield, 'cause remember that Desert Eagle they holster? Apparently, that thing also fires a laser that can rip apart whole planets!! GOOD! GOD! To split this planet apart like that would need over 10 nonillion tons of TNT!
Wiz: A number so incomprehensible, you'd have to multiply one billion by one billion... twice.
Boomstick: More than enough to annihilate Earth over 160 million times, which... seems like overkill for the, uh... space vampires they were fighting.
Wiz: Right, the crew has crossed over with a variety of other universes: Fortnite, Vampire Survivors, Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator, the classics.
Boomstick: Including this Henry Stickmin guy! Apparently, he's a kleptomaniac with a surprisingly wild and wacky arsenal all the crew can have.
Wiz: Desert Eagle-eyed crew members will find Henry's weapons throughout the ship, like a Banana Bomb, a Teleporter, a ninja star, and a Magic Pencil that can bring drawings to life.
We Will Make It Together by David Disher ![]() ![]() |
Boomstick: These creepy Teletubbies can sketch whatever they want into existence, and they're... suddenly everywhere I look now! Wiz, these little trash can people are freaking me out!
Wiz: In a strange way, all of this makes sense for this fascinating species. In the face of insurmountable odds, something inside tells them to band together no matter what; to use all the tools available and try to survive again and again. On a ship, on strange planets, anywhere they may be, in spite of anything that may be going on in the world. They either fix what's broken or face certain doom. But no matter what, they do it... together—
The music suddenly stops as Boomstick butts in.
Boomstick: Among uhhh... together! Y...Yeah! Woooo!
Fall Guys
Shibuya Time by TienYinMen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Boomstick: Welcome to the bright, colorful world of the Blunderdome! Natural habitat to these lovable little Beans known as the "Fall Guys", who race each other through fun playgrounds with nothing but clear skies above!
Wiz: These lively obstacle courses showcase their inherent skills and abilities. As if drawn by natural instinct, they hurdle over barriers together and pass through various tests of strength, agility, and mental fortitude.
Boomstick: And it's pretty impressive, considering how elaborate these bounce house courses get. How do these weebles wobble through it?
Wiz: With a shocking level of innate parkour mastery that otherwise hasn't been seen since 2006. But honestly, not many of the Beans... make it, and only one can be crowned the winner. Before everything starts all over again.
Boomstick: Which makes for some very... "friendly" competition, like survival of the fittest but for a bunch of candy Grimaces. They'll grab, shove, and slam into each other to make it out on top, or even roll up into a ball and launch across the course, self-preservation be damned!
Wiz: And over time, the Beans have evolved to higher levels of... let's call it "imagination". The engineer, Digi, invented the Creative Device so the Beans could start making and designing new obstacles and challenges for themselves...
Running Ahead by Douglas A Wood ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Wiz: ...as well as additional tools like wrecking balls, wind-up boxes for punching foes, and even translators that make their nonsensical language intelligible.
Boomstick: But even at their best, they're still just flinging themselves over these obstacles like a bunch of drunken Lemmings.
Wiz: This species seems to have a biological urge to navigate these courses for one singular purpose: Get. That. Crown.
Boomstick: I mean... if I could be king for a day, I'd push you off a cliff right now.
Wiz: (sarcastically) Ha ha, very funny.
As he says this, gameplay footage of Fall Guys is shown on-screen, where Boomstick tries to push Wiz over the edge.
Wiz: (normally) Tch, get away from me!
Boomstick: Things in the Blunderdome can get wild! We've seen these goobers get smacked by giant mallets and fall into actual hot lava, but they always pop back up at the qualification stage later, completely unharmed! Somehow.
Wiz: These remarkable creatures have demonstrated some dumb-founding durability, such as getting struck by meteors. That's a hit anywhere from 18 tons of TNT to 15 kilotons,[Note 1] but they still get right back up to Rube Goldberg themselves straight through another obstacle course.
Boomstick: On top of that, they were hit with the Big Bang and came out the other side completely fine— Woah-hoh, wait. What?! Did I just say "the Big Bang"?! Why do we even mention the meteor?! Who cares?! Their suits are basically indestructible!
Wiz: Boomstick. I hate to tell you this.
Boomstick: No.
Wiz: Those aren't really—
Boomstick: Don't say it!
Wiz: Those aren't actually suits. That's their skin.
Boomstick: Awww man! People were getting weird back in 2020. Didn't they have better things to do?
Wiz: With only arms, legs, and eyes, there must be some genetic mechanism inside the Beans that causes them to be self-sustaining, though after some dissection, it's unclear. This is an official image, by the way.
Boomstick: I don't know what's more upsetting: that skeleton or the fact that these jelly beans are six freakin' feet tall!
Wiz: Imagine bumping into this thing in a dark alleyway. Nooo thank you!
Boomstick: So... this means when you start the game, you're just flat-out naked? Just... swingin' away, beans in the wind?
Wiz: Strange such nakedness would be allowed considering what's actually happening is the Fall Guys are contestants in a nonstop 24/7 game show: the Ultimate Knockout. Yeah, that's what's actually happening here, so what might be misconstrued as some sort of migration cycle is, really, a brutal, never-ending gauntlet that takes advantage of their tunnel vision.
Boomstick: So, it's The Truman Show mixed with Wipeout and Naked and Afraid. What happened to them being just colorful cartoon beans?
Wiz: And they survive to keep playing the game no matter what. The game makers have said that when the Beans fall to their death, they feel "a moment of displacement, serenity, zen-like detachment from all worldly and physical bonds... Then they pop back onto the podium to celebrate their achievements!" That's an official quote.
Boomstick: They've also said they're strong enough to rip someone in half and can stretch their bodies so far, they've passed beyond the observable universe!
Wiz: Ooohhh god, the Twitter feats...
Boomstick: Ooohhh, yeah! January 18th, 2022, 9:14 AM: the Fall Guys stretch so far, he exited the universe as we know it. And then he kept going!
Wiz: Speaking of universes, the Fall Guys have seen dozens of guest stars from other stories and have learned from their cultures, like flying around in the TARDIS of Doctor Who fame, wielding He-Man's Power Sword, launching Ryu's iconic Hadoken, or even just... becoming Pac-Man. They just... become Pac-Man. They're Pac-Man now.
Boomstick: Wiz, I know we've seen some crazy things on this show, but these six-feet-tall jelly bean monsters EAT FOOD THROUGH THEIR FEET. What are we about to wrought upon the world? Is this cute and colorful reality an endless void of darkness and despair? Revelations of disturbances too catastrophic for the human mind to process?! A vicious cycle of this blue marble surrounded by mouthless dead-eyed BEANS?!
Wiz: Pretty much!
Boomstick: Ah, cool, let's see 'em fight!
Prelude
Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set. We've run the data through all possibilities.
Boomstick: IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLEEE!!!
Death Battle
Sussy Beans by Therewolf Media ![]() ![]() |
The fight begins similarly to a typical game of Among Us: the Cyan, Blue, White, Brown, and Purple Crewmates and the Pink, Yellow, Orange, Green, and Purple Fall Guys are seen together, both groups staring at the other on opposite sides of the screen. A familiar prompt is seen above them:
Crewmate
There are Impostors among us
After a fade to black, the camera then cuts to and zooms into the Skeld's cafeteria as the beans are seen reacting to an alarm, indicating that a Sabotage has been pulled by one of the Impostors. Each member of the crew has different reactions to this; the Yellow Fall Guy hugs the Blue Crewmate out of fear as the latter pats their head in reassurance, the Purple Crewmate looks at their tablet, the Orange and Pink Fall Guys panic and run around in fear, the Cyan Crewmate hushes at the audience before leaving down the bottom, the Green Fall Guy cowers in place, the Brown Crewmate immediately walks to the task, the Purple Fall Guy examines everybody's reactions before beginning to panic themself, and the White Crewmate facepalms at the sight of the rest of their reactions.
The Brown Crewmate makes it to the source of the Sabotage, the reactor, and warily checks around them before they enter. But right as they do, a faraway vent squeaks open and close. As the Brown Crewmate steps into the reactor, they worriedly recheck their surroundings, only to spot a sinister smile and visor behind them too late as the Cyan Crewmate charges at them, impaling their head with their extended tongue before pulling them in to chomp them in half, revealing themselves to be one of the Impostors before walking away. The Yellow Fall Guy then makes it to the reactor and gets scared at the sight of the now lifeless Crewmate, frightened for what's to come.
However, before they can report the dead body, the reactor meltdown's timer runs out, destroying the ship and ejecting all the beans into space; in particular, the Green Fall Guy points finger guns at the screen, the Purple Crewmate throws a peace sign, the Yellow Fall Guy and Blue Crewmate play Rock, Paper, Scissors (with the former throwing Rock to beat the latter throwing Scissors), the White Crewmate gives a salute, and the Purple Fall Guy hushes at the audience much like the Cyan Impostor did earlier. Right after this, the beans land in the Blunderdome as a countdown goes off.

GO!
The Fall Guys set off for the obstacle course as the Crewmates follow suit before the Orange Fall Guy grabs the Pink one, stunning them. A montage is then shown with the beans going through the obstacle course, with eliminations happening one after another, featuring the Green Fall Guy falling in Hex-A-Gone, the White Crewmate being chopped in half by a spinning fan blade, the Cyan Impostor pushing the Yellow Fall Guy into a rotating beam, and the Purple Crewmate being sent to their doom by a Pendulum while they were running samples.
Cutting to a game of Perfect Match, the Pink and Orange Fall Guys, Blue Crewmate, and Cyan Impostor are all seen jumping to a tile the Purple Fall Guy is standing on before it is revealed to be the correct one, causing the Cyan Impostor to twerk in victory, much to the confusion of most of the other beans. Later, as they race to the crown in the final obstacle course, a giant ball is seen rolling downhill until it hits the Orange Fall Guy, knocking them out of the race.
ELIMINATED!
The remaining few beans continue onward as the Blue Crewmate takes the lead while charting an optimal route to take on their tablet, but while they aren't looking, the Pink Fall Guy comes from behind with a wind-up box and activates it on the Blue Crewmate, fatally eliminating them by punching them in two (much to the Pink Fall Guy's brief shock), leaving a bloody mess and only the Pink and Purple Fall Guys and the Cyan Impostor remaining as they approach a pair of Rotating Hammers.
ELIMINATED!
As the three close in on the crown, the Purple Fall Guy jumps over one of the Rotating Hammers as the Cyan Impostor gets behind the Pink Fall Guy, drawing out their knife as they get ready to strike while the Pink Fall Guy is focused on the crown. However, the Pink Fall Guy jumps forward, unintentionally avoiding the Cyan Impostor's slash before they get smacked dead-on by the other Rotating Hammer and splatter against the nearby wall, dying from the impact and leaving behind a bisected corpse.
ELIMINATED!
Meanwhile, the Pink Fall Guy rolls into a ball and bounces toward the crown, grabbing it before the Purple Fall Guy can do the same and stealing the win from them at the last second. However, this victory is short-lived, as the Purple Fall Guy, now angered, makes it up to the victory pedestal and reveals themself to be a shapeshifted Red Impostor all along. They then draw out their knife and stab at the Pink Fall Guy, who evades the first two strikes before cowering in fear at the third, allowing the Impostor's knife to finally hit them... only for the knife to bounce off their body.
After a couple more failed stab attempts, the Red Impostor then stabs their hand to check their blade's sharpness, immediately regretting it after a beat of silence. As they run away in pain, Red then reveals their mouth and tongue before firing their gun at Pink, but the bullet fails to penetrate the Fall Guy's body, allowing Pink to ricochet the bullet back onto the Impostor, sending them flying onto the top part of the outer wall before being flung back to the stage. Pink uses this opportunity to give Red the beating of a lifetime, even slapping the Impostor a few times before pushing them aside. As Red gets up, they smirk as they pull out a detonator, pressing the button on it to activate a nearby Banana Bomb that was placed during the prior scuffle.
Banana Bomb: OOOH, BANA—
The fruit then promptly explodes, sending Pink, Red, and the crown falling into the abyss. Pink tries to reach for the crown by stretching their arm out to it, but Red pulls out Henry Stickmin's Teleporter, activates it, and, in a change of pace for the device, successfully teleports in front of Pink (albeit with some bloody damage done to their back as a result of the teleportation process) and lunges straight towards them as they fall past the other eliminated and/or dead beans watching the two from the qualification boxes, who all leap/float down to follow the two when they see the crown as the fight transitions to space... somehow.
With the fight now becoming a full-on free-for-all, the Yellow Fall Guy is the first to try to grab the crown, but Brown uses their Guardian Angel powers to encase it within a shield to prevent their opponent from collecting it. However, they immediately get chomped on by the Orange Fall Guy, who turned into Pac-Man as Brown was protecting the crown, causing the Crewmate to drop the shield after being caught off guard. As the crown drifts in space afterward, the Green Fall Guy attempts to get it themself before getting hit by the Yellow Fall Guy's Hadoken, who tries once more to grab it before being vaporized by Red's gun as they swing it around, destroying the green Fall Guy and a nearby planet in the process.
During this commotion, Pink finds the TARDIS and enters it, piloting it away from the blast and disappearing as the attack incinerates the Orange Fall Guy, who chomps on Cyan's ghost still as Pac-Man right before their death. The TARDIS then reappears behind Red as Pink jumps out of it, pulls out He-Man's Power Sword while mumbling his famous catchphrase, and uses it to cut the Impostor's gun in half. In response, Red pulls out Henry's Magic Pencil and draws a sword of their own for them to wield, rushing forth as the two beans clash amongst the stars and asteroids before locking blades and coming to a standstill... up until the crown floats on by the two and gets in the sight of Pink. Promptly shifting their focus back to it, they drop the Power Sword and rush towards the crown, with Red dropping their own blade and following suit after a bit of confusion.
The two beans continue to chase the crown as Pink jumps between a few asteroids before ultimately making a leaping lunge toward it. Red, on the other hand, grabs two other asteroids and uses them to launch themself at Pink, opening their jaw to extend their tongue and tightly grip the opposing bean right as they're about to grab the crown before they start to retract it, all while the crown slowly drifts further away from Pink. As they look onward, the Fall Guy then sees the Impostor's reflection on the crown as they think about a possible future, one where Red wins, gets praised by the rest of the Fall Guy society, and grows old with the crown while Pink themself becomes a homeless nobody.
Not wanting this hypothetical future to become a reality, Pink assumes a determined expression of anger as they manage to grab the crown and smash it into Red's mouth as they're pulled in, causing blood to spill out and the screen to briefly go black for a few moments. The camera then cuts to Pink's point of view, where they open their eyes to check their surroundings and reveal they're back on the victory pedestal before seeing the gruesome, brutally torn-apart remains of their opponent, freaking out as they look upon the Impostor's blood on their hands. However, before they can have an existential crisis, they pick up the nearby crown from Red's remains and place it on their head once more as their expression returns to normal. With their victory now properly assured, confetti falls as Pink does a victory dance over their enemy's corpse to celebrate their win.
An Among Us victory screen is shown, featuring Pink pointing finger guns at the screen in victory as the ghosts of their adversaries behind them react to their win in various ways; Brown and White are mildly annoyed by what happened, the Green Fall Guy is confused, Purple applauds Pink, and the Yellow Fall Guy is cheerfully holding onto an annoyed Blue with an equally annoyed Orange Fall Guy next to them. Meanwhile, Cyan comforts Red for their last-second loss in the background.

Boomstick: Aw, when's the next episode? This is my new favorite show! Move over, Chimp Crazy.
Wiz: We broke this down into three categories: offense, defense, and... the bizarre. Let's start with offense.
Boomstick: I mean, the bogus Among Us could blow up planets, not to mention moving faster than light to hit all those planets in one shot. It's kinda out there, but no Fall Guy has ever done anything like that. The Crewmates clearly get the edge in offense.
Wiz: Though that impressive power matters less when we look at defense.
Boomstick: It's crazy how much damage the Fall Guys can walk off! They survived anything their course threw at them, took hits from meteors, and most importantly, survived the Big Bang. You know, the explosion that blew the whole freaking universe into existence?! Easy edge for the bumbling bean.
Wiz: We can even go a step further; both of these creatures have demonstrated various forms of invulnerability and death negation, like how the Fall Guys could always pop back up for another round, or how the Crewmates became ghosts when they die. However, only the Fall Guys had a viable counter; only the Fall Guys could ensure that their foe stays dead.
Boomstick: Pac-Man. They can become... Pac-Man. Who, you know, eats ghoooosts~!
Wiz: Brilliant.
Boomstick: Which leads us to the truly bizarre stuff about both of these beanie freaks.
Wiz: Both can stretch their bodies to absurd lengths, but only the Fall Guys stretch beyond the observable universe in a matter of minutes. In fact, if we take these posting times literally, that would mean the Fall Guys can stretch at speeds over a quadrillion times faster than light![Note 2]
Boomstick: I don't know, Wiz, that feels like a bit of a... stretch. Wink!
Wiz: The Crewmates did have plenty of answers to the Fall Guys' hijacks, like a Magic Pencil sword to fight off He-Man's Power Sword, or how they could potentially hack Digi's creations.
Boomstick: But the overwhelming amount of stuff that the Fall Guys have access to just dwarfs the Among Us crew's arsenal. I mean Hadokens, TARDIS, just the tip of the iceberg. Yeah, the spaceship crew had a few deadlier weapons among 'em, but the falling guys had too many options that could not be countered.
Wiz: The Crewmates may have been cunning and dangerous, but the one-track-minded Fall Guys just wouldn't go down.
Boomstick: Making sure the Losers of this fight were no longer... among us.
The Among Us sabotage alarm suddenly goes off.
Wiz: O-OH, NO! We never found the second Impostor!
Boomstick: Ah, damn it! I knew that stupid robot was sus!
We cut to Wiz, Boomstick, and DUMMI being ejected into outer space, evidently having failed to fix the sabotage in time.
DUMMI: Sigh. So embarrassing.
The following text then appears as Wiz, Boomstick, and DUMMI keep drifting into space:
The winner is Fall Guys
We cut to the "Winner" card.
Jocelyn: The winner is... the Fall Guys! And me! Heh-heh-heh!

Original Track
Sussy Beans by Therewolf Media ![]() ![]() |

Composition
The track for this fight is "Sussy Beans" by Therewolf Media. It starts off with space-like ambient noises similar to the main music heard in Among Us before transitioning into a primarily energetic tune based on the Fall Guys soundtrack that gets more intense as the fight goes on. Multiple renditions of motifs from both series are heard, including the Among Us round start theme at the start of the track, the space theme while in the Skeld, "Everybody Falls" for the obstacle course's countdown, "Fall 'N' Roll" from for the obstacle course itself, and the dead body reported theme for when Red inspects their knife, with a rendition of "Dance Moves" from Fortnite also being played at the end of the track for when Pink does the Default Dance to signify their victory. The track also adopts a style similar to that of the Vampire Survivors soundtrack during the scene where Red shoots their planet-slicing laser.
Title
The title references the numerous sus-related memes made in the wake of Among Us's explosion in popularity (namely the "sussy baka" meme) and how the Crewmates, Impostors, and Fall Guys are bean-shaped characters.
Cover Art
The cover art done by John Mitchell depicts the Red Impostor's tongue and the Pink Fall Guy's arm reaching out to a shiny Fall Guys crown emitting a golden glow.
Trivia
Production
- The core connections between the Crewmates/Impostor and Fall Guys are that both are customizable bean-shaped player characters from modern-day party indie games where they compete against each other. In addition:
- Their respective games grew in massive popularity during the height of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
- Both have the innate ability to stretch and elongate their bodies to absurd lengths.
- An Among Us-themed costume is available as one of the many crossover costumes that Fall Guys can wear, allowing them to appear as either a Crewmate or an Impostor.
- One of the animators for this episode, Larrywinwood,[1] previously made a fan-made sneak peek for the matchup that was featured in the Nov 30, 2022 Fireside Chat and the 309th episode of DEATH BATTLE Cast, which was what ultimately convinced the Death Battle team the matchup could work as an episode,[2] leading to its eventual inclusion as an option for the 2D Champion's Poll.
- As part of Death Battle's paid YouTube membership, members were able to vote for two matchups to become episodes in Season 10, with one being animated in 2D and one animated in 3D. This episode was an option for the 2D poll, but it lost to Bill Cipher VS Discord.
- This makes this the first matchup that lost a fan poll to be made into an episode, with the next four being Kratos VS Asura, Simon the Digger VS White Lantern, Hulk VS Godzilla, and Gru VS Megamind.
- This is the first losing Champion's Poll matchup to do so, with the next two being Kratos VS Asura and Simon the Digger VS White Lantern.
- This makes this the first matchup that lost a fan poll to be made into an episode, with the next four being Kratos VS Asura, Simon the Digger VS White Lantern, Hulk VS Godzilla, and Gru VS Megamind.
- This episode has been officially acknowledged a few times:
- When asked for their thoughts on whether they would win the then-upcoming episode, the official Among Us Twitter account stated that they believed they wouldn't due to the Fall Guys being "twice as big" as the Crewmates and also because the Crewmates "die for a living".[3]
- The day after the Crewmates/Impostor's preview was released, the official Innersloth YouTube channel commented on it, saying that "At the end of the day, the ones we can always depend on (to die) are the Crewmates".[4]
- These acknowledgments would eventually be edited into the post-analysis.
- This makes it the eighth episode to be acknowledged by one of the combatants' creators or series, after Beast VS Goliath, Dante VS Bayonetta, Amy Rose VS Ramona Flowers, Scrooge McDuck VS Shovel Knight, Danny Phantom VS American Dragon Jake Long, Saitama VS Popeye, and Omni-Man VS Homelander.
- In the Crewmate/Impostor's analysis preview, Wiz was the one to be ejected instead of Ringmaster after getting the most votes, with Boomstick's reasoning for voting Wiz out after the latter says that the Impostor is selected at random being him comparing it to people being randomly ejected into space instead of noticing how "random" and "red" (the primary color of Ringmaster's normal outfit and the color most associated with the Impostor) both start with "R".
- This is the first episode since Rick Sanchez VS The Doctor to not feature a short preview of the fight animation that ends with the "FIGHT!" graphic at the start of the episode.
- This is the first episode since Hulk VS Broly in which the interlude gives a small description over the theme of the episode before name-dropping the combatants.
- This is the first episode since Jason Voorhees VS Michael Myers where none of the combatants are voiced, and the first since Wario VS King Dedede to lack any voice acting for the fight at all.
- This is the second episode since Captain Marvel VS Shazam to feature a post-fight animation, after Bowser VS Eggman.
- After the episode's release, Chad James and Sam Mitchell hosted a livestream where they played some games of Fall Guys.
- Larrywinwood's behind-the-scenes shot showcase on Twitter revealed a few first-pass shots that feature some differences from the final episode:
- Blood was originally on Cyan's lips after they chomped Brown's body in half at the start of the fight.
- The virtual version of Blue on their tablet originally did the Spooky Dance from the Spooky Month series after reaching the end of the modified Chart Course task.
- The post-fight victory screen originally had Pink covered in blood, with Purple reacting to it in disgust rather than applauding them for their victory like in the final episode.
- After the episode's release, Larrywinwood posted an "alternate ending" to the fight as a joke that follows the Among Us rules accurately, causing the unhindered reactor meltdown on the Skeld to result in an instant win for the Cyan and Red Impostors, with the latter still partially disguised as the Purple Fall Guy. In the background, White's ghost can be seen berating the Yellow Fall Guy over not fixing the reactor or reporting Brown's body in time.[5]
- This makes it the fifth episode to receive an alternate ending, after Shao Kahn VS M. Bison, Omni-Man VS Bardock, Joker VS Giorno, and Bowser VS Eggman, and with the next one being Kratos VS Asura.
- The storyboards by John Mitchell reveal several minor differences compared to the final episode. Notably:
- The hand-drawn shot of Brown checking their surroundings before being killed by Cyan is not present in the boards. Their death via being impaled by Cyan's tongue was also more in line with how the kill looks in Among Us rather than the bloodier version seen in the final episode.
- Cyan originally did a simple fist pump after jumping to the correct tile in Perfect Match instead of the Among Us Twerk.
- Blue did not finish their task in the boards before getting killed by Pink's wind-up boxing glove.
- Pink did a different victory dance after killing Red, with said dance being partly covered by the Fall Guys "WINNER!" notification.
Easter Eggs
- The Crewmate/Impostor's analysis features several clips of Among Us gameplay where the players have the names of people in either the in-universe or real-life Death Battle team, with some of their colors and cosmetics relating to them in some way. In order of first appearance, they are as follows:
- "Boomstick" as Maroon wearing the Flashy skin, the Nimrod hat, and the a n g e r y eyebrows, slightly resembling Boomstick's general appearance.
- Another player named "Boomstick" is later shown separate from this one, instead being Red and wearing the I'll Fix It skin and default blue The Ol' Ball Game hat.
- "Ringmaster" as Red wearing the Magical 'Corn hat and the Looking Sharp triangle shades, resembling Ringmaster's appearance.
- "Jocelyn" as Yellow wearing the I heart u hat.
- "Sam" as White wearing the Toppat Grunt hat.
- "Origin" as Purple (the color primary associated with his author avatar) wearing the pink Beanie and the Tiny Specs.
- "LWW" as Lime (the color primary associated with Larrywinwood's author avatar) wearing Hat Kid's Cape and Miles Edgeworth's Coif.
- "GalaxyMax" as Black wearing the Ghostface robes and mask from Among Us' collaboration with Scream, a nod to Max's coverage of horror media on both his Galaxy Video and GalaxyVideoMax YouTube channels.
- "Jukem" as Orange wearing the Scientific Theory skin and the Eggscellent hat.
- "DJTiki" as Coral wearing the Suited Up skin, the Swarshburgalor hat, and the Note 2 Self visor cosmetic.
- "AK47" as Rose wearing the Daisy Me Rollin' hat, with a later clip of her adding the Oh You blush.
- "Wizard" as Green wearing the Scientific Theory skin, slightly resembling Wiz's appearance.
- Another player named "Wiz" is later shown separate from this one, instead being Cyan and wearing Miles Edgeworth's Coif and the Spectacles alongside the Scientific Theory outfit to resemble Wiz's appearance further.
- "Lousy" as Pink wearing the Toppat Chief hat.
- "Intern24" as Cyan wearing the I'll Fix It skin and the Chocolate Scoop hat, seemingly the only player not to be named after an official crew member. However, the number in their name, 24, likely references the year this episode was released in.
- "Boomstick" as Maroon wearing the Flashy skin, the Nimrod hat, and the a n g e r y eyebrows, slightly resembling Boomstick's general appearance.
- When Boomstick questions why the Crewmates have a cafeteria despite their lack of mouths in their/the Impostor's analysis, a clip of Among Us' Hide n Seek trailer plays that replaces Maroon with this official GIF of a Crewmate trying to eat a sandwich to no avail and saying "I HAVE NO MOUTH AND I MUST EAT", referencing the sci-fi short story I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream.
- Several Among Us memes are referenced throughout the Crewmate/Impostor's analysis:
- When Wiz talks about the act of ejecting suspicious Crewmates into space, an animated scene plays of Red being ejected with the message "sussus amogus was An Impostor." is shown, with the name stemming from this edited StoneToss comic and being a variation of the "Biggus Dickus" gag from Monty Python's Life of Brian.
- The infamous "When the impostor is sus!" meme spawned from Twitch streamer Jerma985 is edited behind Lime when Wiz says "sus" in the Crewmate/Impostor's analysis.
- Ringmaster calls Wiz a "sussy baka" (a memetic phrase used whenever people are suspicious of others, even outside of the game) during the Death Battle team's voting session in the analysis preview.
- The "Things That Look Like Among Us Crewmates" meme is referenced by Boomstick after he brings up the Magic Pencil, with some of the examples shown on-screen including the movie poster for The Thing (with this and the clip of R.J. MacReady burning Red edited over Palmer-Thing earlier in the analysis likely referencing how Among Us as a whole was heavily inspired by The Thing and the Thing VS the Impostor was a semi-popular matchup within the Death Battle community), this official image of an Among Us-shaped pizza pie, and the track cover for Wings of Iron.
- The Among Drip image is seen edited onto the Cosmicube at the end of the analysis alongside this image for Among Us' collaboration with New State Mobile.
- Edited footage of James Bond's famous 007 gun barrel sequence that replaces Bond with a Crewmate plays in their analysis when Boomstick prepares to talk about the power output of the Impostor's Desert Eagle.
- This is the second episode to reference the sequence, after James Bond VS John Wick.
- The first thing listed in the Crewmate/Impostor's "Feats" slide is "Completed a Card Swipe on the first try", referencing the infamous reputation of the Swipe Card task in the Among Us community due to the finicky nature of how fast the card needs to be swiped for the game to register the task as complete.
- Like with the Crewmate/Impostor's analysis, the Fall Guys' analysis features several clips of Fall Guys gameplay where the players have the names of people in the Death Battle team. In order of first appearance, they are as follows:
- "JETSCV"
- "Ben Outta Ben", which likely also references Boomstick's last ending pun for Ben 10 VS Green Lantern, "That pun was 10 outta Ben."
- "GalaxyVideoMax"
- "Black_Flag1"
- "TheTripleBee"
- "TheCokeaholic"
- "Laroldwinwood"
- "DJTiki"
- "RaidouTine", which references a popular matchup within the Death Battle community instead of a member of the team: Raidou Kuzunoha XIV from the Devil Summoner series VS John Constantine from DC Comics.
- Brandon Yates had previously made a commissioned "What If?" track for this matchup called "XIVth Hellblazer" prior to the release of this episode.
- Boomstick's double take after noting how the Fall Guys survived the Big Bang from Chapter 4: Season OG of Fortnite is accompanied by a clip of a light blue Fall Guy overlayed on the opening of The Big Bang Theory.
- When Boomstick asks if people had better things to do back in 2020 during the Fall Guys' analysis, a clip of Fall Guys' "Space Launch" trailer is shown with the Doom Slayer and Isabelle from Animal Crossing edited onto Pink's accompanying monitor, referencing how the two are popularly paired up with each other following the announcement of Doom Eternal being delayed to March 20th, 2020, unintentionally making it share its new release date with Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
- When Wiz brings up Fall Guys' numerous collabs during the Fall Guys' analysis, footage featuring crossover costumes of Jack Skellington and the Grinch plays back to back, likely referencing how they are a popular Death Battle matchup.
- Therewolf Media had previously made a personally commissioned "What If?" track for this matchup called "Taking Christmas" prior to the release of this episode.
- During the Tournament of Champions back in 2023, The Grinch VS Jack Skellington was one of the matchups available to vote on for Week 8, though it lost to Sans VS The Judge.
- A clip of Scooby-Doo VS Courage the Cowardly Dog (specifically the part of the climax where Scooby grows giant and throws a massive punch at Courage in a reference to Wyzen's boss fight in Asura's Wrath) is played near the end of the Fall Guys' analysis.
- Funnily enough, Asura's Wrath would make its debut on the show with the very next episode.
- Among the various clips used during the prelude is an official video of a Crewmate dressed as Miles Edgeworth running a dog race made to promote the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection that was inspired by this video by Coolcarguy, who noticed this easter egg on Twitter.[6]
- As revealed by OriginTheHero on Twitter, the Purple "Fall Guy" sprite's color palette is based on William Afton's Purple Guy sprite from Five Nights at Freddy's 2,[7] which is both a humorous homage on its own and a reference to Afton's character (being a serial killer who disguises himself as a friendlier persona to get closer to his victims, similar to Impostors).
- At the end of the countdown, the Yellow Fall Guy does the Naruto Run.
- A Minecraft Potion of Healing can be seen among the test tubes falling out of Purple's right hand as they get hit by a Pendulum at the end of the elimination montage.
- At the end of the Perfect Match section after the elimination montage, Cyan does the infamous Among Us Twerk meme that originated from Open Season.
- When Blue finishes the modified Chart Course task on their tablet, the virtual version of themself does the infamous Distraction Dance from the Henry Stickmin series.
- The face seen on Blue's tablet after they get killed by Pink's wind-up boxing glove is that of Levitation, one of Origin's friends.[8]
- When Cyan dies from the impact of the Rotating Hammer at the end of the obstacle course, the number "11037" with a slight diagonal smear in between the two 1's can be seen next to their body on the wall amongst their blood splatters, referencing the death of Sayaka Maizono from Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and how the number, when flipped upside-down, serves as a hint that her killer was Leon Kuwata.
- Red's fruitless attempts to stab Pink to no avail with their knife is a call-back to Larrywinwood's fan-made sneak peek animation, which featured a similar scenario.
- During Pink's physical beatdown on Red, the latter briefly falls down onto the ground in the Family Guy death pose.
- This is the third episode to reference the death pose, after Deku VS Asta and Phoenix VS Raven.
- Before the Banana Bomb detonates, the "OOOH, BANANA!" soundbite for when a Golden Banana appears in Donkey Kong 64 is played, though it gets cut off by the ensuing explosion. The same sound effect was also featured in the "FAIL" screen for the Banana Bomb as its own easter egg in the original web version of Infiltrating the Airship.
- Each zoom-in on the Banana Bomb during the countdown is accompanied by the infamous Vine Boom sound effect.
- When Red teleports using Henry Stickmin's Teleporter, their backside is shown to be bloody and damaged after the teleportation, referencing the Teleporter's usage in its home series, where it would often get Henry gravely injured or outright killed rather than actually teleporting him how he wants it to.
- When the fight transitions to space, multiple references can be seen in the background. In order, these include:
- The constellation formed at the end of Macho Man VS Kool-Aid Man.
- This is the eighth episode to feature the constellation in the background of the fight, after Harley Quinn VS Jinx, Trunks VS Silver, Stitch VS Rocket Raccoon, Martian Manhunter VS Silver Surfer, Rick Sanchez VS The Doctor, Goku VS Superman (2023), and Galactus VS Unicron.
- A stone carving of Bill Cipher hidden amongst the asteroids when Red fires the giant laser blast from their gun (which itself is a reference to their planet-destroying feat from the Vampire Survivors x Among Us collaboration's Emergency Meeting DLC trailer).
- This is the 10th episode to hide a stone carving of Bill in the background of the fight, after Phoenix VS Raven, Guts VS Dimitri, Martian Manhunter VS Silver Surfer, Bill Cipher VS Discord, Gojo VS Makima, Scooby-Doo VS Courage the Cowardly Dog, Rick Sanchez VS The Doctor, Goku VS Superman (2023), and Galactus VS Unicron.
- A cloud in the shape of Discord's head; albeit difficult to make out, it's best seen in the same shot as Bill's cameo next to the Green Fall Guy right before they get incinerated by Red's laser blast.
- This is the seventh episode to hide a Discord-shaped cloud in the background of the fight, after Phoenix VS Raven, Guts VS Dimitri, Martian Manhunter VS Silver Surfer, Rick Sanchez VS The Doctor, Goku VS Superman (2023), and Galactus VS Unicron.
- The crown constellation from Fall Guys's In the Stars Celebration.
- Space Hawaii from Stitch VS Rocket Raccoon behind one of the asteroids, albeit difficult to make out.
- This is the third episode to feature Space Hawaii in the background of the fight, after Martian Manhunter VS Silver Surfer and Rick Sanchez VS The Doctor.
- An Among Us-shaped nebula, referencing this 2013 image of the Boomerang Nebula that became a meme in 2021 due to it looking like a Crewmate/an Impostor.
- The Skeld.
- The Directer from Vampire Survivors.
- An Among Us version of Ringmaster in a brick joke regarding the discussion segment of the Crewmate/Impostor's analysis that ended in his ejection.
- Unicron in his planet mode.
- Galactus.
- Rocket Raccoon's Orbital Weapons Stash and the Milano.
- The constellation formed at the end of Macho Man VS Kool-Aid Man.
- Most of Pink's hallucinations of Red's possible victory during the climax of the fight contain numerous references:
- The pose Red does in the first hallucination is DIO's memetic "WRYYY!!!" pose made famous in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future.
- In the third hallucination, a Pegwin is seen next to the cardboard box Pink is living in, while a Headcrab is seen on top of the dumpster bin on the very right of the scene, likely as a nod to the Gordon Headcrab Costume from Fall Guys.
- The final hallucination contains multiple references in itself:
- The chairs Red and the crown are sitting on are designed after Carl and Ellie Fredricksen's chairs from Up.
- The book Red is reading is titled "Diary of a Wimpy Crewmate", a reference to the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.
- A picture of Cyan near the right of the scene is shown in a frame with the text "BFF R.I.P. 2018-2024" accompanying them, with the former date referencing the release year of Among Us. Cyan also has the Roblox Man Face on his visor in an additional reference to the "Feliz Navidad" Among Us meme.
- The accessories on the crown are a reference to the various outfits Queen Elizabeth II wore.
- The victory dance Pink performs at the end of the fight is the infamous Dance Moves/Default Dance emote from Fortnite.
Errors
- Despite Among Us spelling it as "Impostor", the Crewmate/Impostor analysis preview's titles (the original "imposters Among Us are the crew's only hope in DEATH BATTLE!" and the current "Can the imposter Among Us survive a DEATH BATTLE?") and thumbnail spell it "Imposter" instead. The title of the preview was eventually fixed, but the thumbnail still has the misspelling.
- In the Crewmates/Impostor's "Roles" slide, the Engineer role is listed twice under the "Crewmate" bullet point.
- In the Crewmates/Impostor's analysis, the "160 Million Earth's" text that appears when the planet-destroying feat is being calced erroneously has an apostrophe.
- When the camera cuts to the losing beans of the obstacle course, Purple's ghost briefly loses its translucency as they turn to Red and Pink.
- In the scene where Pink and Red jump on asteroids towards the Sun as they chase the crown in the fight's climax, the shading on both characters incorrectly faces toward the star instead of away from it.
Other
- This is the fourth episode to be named after the combatants' home series rather than the combatants themselves, after Pokémon VS Digimon, Power Rangers VS Voltron, and Skyrim VS Dark Souls.
- Excluding sprite animations with hand-drawn shots, this is the 10th episode to be animated in more than one animation style, after Metal Sonic VS Zero, Optimus Prime VS Gundam, Deadpool VS Mask, Macho Man VS Kool-Aid Man, Saitama VS Popeye, Bill Cipher VS Discord, Goku VS Superman (2023), Joker VS Giorno, and Bowser VS Eggman.
- This is the seventh episode where someone besides Wiz says the winner's name, after Deadpool VS Deathstroke, Deadpool VS Mask, Miles Morales VS Static, Goro VS Machamp, Macho Man VS Kool-Aid Man, and Stitch VS Rocket Raccoon.
- This is the sixth episode since Balrog VS TJ Combo to feature at least one track from a combatant's source material outside of clips (as the main theme of Among Us and its round start theme play in the interlude, with the latter also playing during the Crewmate/Impostor's analysis), after Mario VS Sonic (2018), Ben 10 VS Green Lantern, Weiss VS Mitsuru, Skyrim VS Dark Souls, and Bowser VS Eggman.
- This is the 11th episode to feature planetary destruction, after Goku VS Superman 1, Chuck Norris VS Segata Sanshiro, Thanos VS Darkseid, Wario VS King Dedede, Beerus VS Sailor Galaxia, Hulk VS Broly, Saitama VS Popeye, Frieza VS Megatron, Goku VS Superman (2023), and Galactus VS Unicron.
- The Crewmates/Impostor's and Fall Guy's analysis previews reached #26 and #44 on Trending for gaming two weeks and one week before the episode's release, respectively.[9][10]
- This is the fifth episode in which a combatant's analysis preview reached the Trending page, after Thor VS Vegeta, Frieza VS Megatron, Goku VS Superman (2023), and Bowser VS Eggman.
- This is the first to have happened for both combatants' analysis previews.
- This is the second episode to do so on one of the Trending page's sub-categories (in this case, gaming) instead of the main Trending page itself, after Bowser VS Eggman.
- This is the fifth episode in which a combatant's analysis preview reached the Trending page, after Thor VS Vegeta, Frieza VS Megatron, Goku VS Superman (2023), and Bowser VS Eggman.
- This episode reached #2 on YouTube's Trending page.[11]
