Champion Ash Ketchum is one of the main protagonists of the Pokémon series. He will appear in an upcoming episode of Death Battle, Ash VS Yugi, where he and Pikachu will fight against Yugi Muto and Yami Yugi from the Yu-Gi-Oh! series.
History
Hailing from Pallet Town in the Kanto region, Ash Ketchum had always wanted to be a Pokémon Master. When he turned 10, he went to Professor Oak's laboratory to receive his first Pokémon. He originally wanted a Squirtle, but having slept in and arrived late, he was forced to accept a Pikachu as his partner instead. He did not get along well with the stubborn, disobedient Pokémon at first, but after he selflessly protected it from a flock of wild Spearow, Pikachu had a change of heart and defended him back. From then on, the two became best friends with an unbreakable bond, and Ash embarked on his Pokémon journey.
Though he started off as an inexperienced Trainer, he managed to defeat the Gyms in Kanto with the help of his new friends Misty and Brock, all while having to constantly fight off the nefarious Team Rocket, allowing him to eventually enter the Indigo Plateau Conference. But while he would end up losing that League Conference and many more to come, he has continued to travel across the land to other regions since then, meeting new people and capturing new Pokémon in pursuit of his lifelong goal of becoming the very best, like no one ever was.
