- —Batman to Bruce Wayne
Terrence "Terry" McGinnis, also known as Batman, is a superhero from DC Comics. To differentiate him from the original Batman, he is commonly referred to as Batman Beyond. He appeared in the 86th episode of Death Battle, Batman Beyond VS Spider-Man 2099, where he and Bruce Wayne fought against Spider-Man 2099 and Lyla from Marvel Comics.
History
Terrence McGinnis was a typical rave-attending teenager in the year 2040, and he was unfortunate enough to get involved in a fight with the Jokerz, a local gang inspired by the Clown Prince himself. After getting on their bad side, Terry returned home to find his father murdered, seemingly by the Jokerz, though that couldn't be further from the truth. Earlier, Terry stumbled upon a mansion owned by an aging Bruce Wayne, the original Batman, and little did Terry know he was part of a venture by Amanda Waller called Project Batman Beyond, and his DNA structure was created by the DNA of Bruce Wayne as a form to keep the legacy of Batman alive should Bruce retire or die. After Terry originally took Bruce's last Batsuit for his own needs, Bruce took the boy under his wing and trained him to be the new Dark Knight for Gotham City.
