This is the basic policies in regards to chat on the Discussions Boards and Blog Posts, as well as descriptions for the categories.

RULES

  1. Follow all the rules as outlined in the Basic Policy, as per usual.
  2. Keep all topics to their related sections. If any one individual frequently doesn't use categories properly, they will be contacted about it. Further ignoring said guidelines may result in an official warning. If you're unsure where a post goes, just look for similar ones and follow suit, or ask.
  3. Avoid posting in close proximity to previous posts: To clear up spam and avoid walls of the exact same person posting similar posts, please wait at least 5 minutes before making another post on the boards. This does not apply to comments, just the original posts.
    Do not respond to posts that have been inactive for longer than 2 weeks. This is necroposting, and is annoying for those who were originally in the threads.
  4. Avoid making purposefully inflammatory posts. This includes, though isn't limited to:
    • Making VS/Who Would Win posts that are entirely designed to spite another character or make another individual upset.
    • All "Wanks/Downplays" posts, as they are inherently inflammatory and have often times lead to massive arguments.
  5. Make Titles Clearer: When titling your posts, please try to label them as clear as possible. Stuff like "Character A VS Character B: Who Wins?" for VS Matchups, or "General Thoughts on Character A VS Character B" for Discussions. Just putting a "Who would win" or describing the characters doesn't make things clear, clutters things up, and in general makes more sense being in the body of the post than the title. Labelling these correctly will help others choose whether they want to click on a post more.
  6. In regards to VS Posts:
    • To promote thoughtful discussion, we ask that replies to "who would win" threads not just be "___ wins/stomps/loses/dies/etc." and at least contain basic reasoning to support your argument. This will be monitored more to promote healthier discussions.
    • Any and all posts made to inherently rile up another user for their VS opinions (such as making a post that pits a character they're known for supporting against an unreasonable opponent) will be considered breaking rule #2 on respect, as in general that kind of attitude is inherently spiteful.
    • Do not post VS posts for the sake of it. To make sure the quality of the boards is up to a decent standard, we ask that whatever matchups you post at least make sense from a connection or powerset point of view. Pitting two characters that have nothing in common barring "they're strong" does not elicit interesting debates or worthwhile discussion. Posts that are deemed nonsensical due to a lack of connection between the combatants are subject to potential removal by a Discussions Moderator or Admin. This is a soft rule, meaning that not every post like this will be removed, but just keep in mind for the future.
    • Use common sense. If you're being told how your idea on how powerful Scrimblo Bimblo is doesn't work, by multiple users, maybe try working on a stronger argument, or just pulling out altogether. And notice when conficts start because of any behavior you exhibit, and take a step back to avoid making a headache for others. As for said others...
  7. In regards to problematic users: Report them, and then ignore them. Do not confront or antagonize a troublemaker, as it will only make the situation worse. If there is an individual you take issue with, report them and let a moderator deal with it. And if an individual is banned or otherwise, don't continue to make fun of them when they can't respond back.
    • Individuals caught repeatedly interacting with obvious trolls will receive warnings.
  8. In regards to OC/Original Characters;
    • All posts discussing OCs must be placed in Random Thoughts. All posts promoting OC stories/blogs go in Self-Promotion. All posts that focus on art created for OCs belong in Creative.
    • Any and all stories based around OCs MUST be placed on a User Blog before being submitted to post in Self-Promotion. Creating multiple chapters of a story across several posts, alongside being a complicated and unorganized way of telling a tale, can be considered spam, and as such will be removed.
      • Depending on if a user, for whatever reason, is incapable of creating a blog for themselves, they can discuss with a discussions moderator about being given an excemption. These exemptions are on a story-by-story basis, and being given one does not put you above any other rules. Said exemptions must be discussed with a moderator beforehand, and can be removed at any time.
    • Regarding OCs in Versus:
      • OCs can only be put in a Debate thread against each other. Official/canon characters from popular franchises can NOT be pit against an OC, and doing so will result in your post being either locked or deleted. This includes the debate itself, as well as scripts. Discussing a matchup in Character Match-ups will be taken on a case-by-case basis.
      • Any OCs deemed excessively overpowered without any thorough, well-thought-out reason, are barred from all debate-related threads, period.
    • For more information, please refer to this post.
  9. Please do not abuse the "Report Post" feature, it causes a severe inconvenience for the Staff Team when we're trying to find anything rule breaking.

CATEGORIES

General: As of November 2022, it is impossible to make a post within the General category. This was done to keep the Discussions boards tidy and encourage putting your posts in the right place.

Random Thoughts | Opinions & General Talk: The catch-all. Here you can share your opinions on anything and post whatever doesn't fall into the below categories.

Versus | "Who wins", "How Strong is _": Here is were you put posts relating to VS Debates. This includes, but is not limited to;

  • All "Who Would Win" Posts.
  • All posts asking "how strong is _" character, as well as "what tier" they're in.
  • All posts asking if characters can solo different verses.

Character Match-Ups | "Who should _ face", MU Tier Lists: The other VS-related category. This is for talking about matchups in general, and NOT related to "who would win". Things you should post in here include, but are not limited to;

  • General discussions for matchups.
  • DBX Votes.
  • Who should "_" fight posts, preferred matchups, etc.
  • All tier lists relating to character matchups, PROVIDED they don't involve who wins.

Fun & Games | Forum Games, Memes, Fun Discussions: Here is where you will be able to post your memes, random thought experiments and other games. Please try not to actively force a trend or spam posts. And put at least a little effort into them. General Tier Lists go here as well.

Creative | Your Art, Thumbnails, Sprites & More!: This is where people can post things they've made, such as art, thumbnails, sprites and other images. This is for YOUR art. Art created by other individuals, unless comissioned by the poster, will either be moved to Random Thought or deleted. Any and all written works must go into Self-Promotion.

Self-Promotion | Blogs, Scripts, Social Media: This is the other promotion chat. Here you can promote your blogs, written works, posts on social media, videos, etc. Please note that, depending on the quality, your post might be removed. People are allowed to make reposts linking to their originals, but only one, and they will be deleted around 24 hours.

Q&A | Gauge Thoughts!: Here is another catch-all. Any general questions that do not fall into any of the other categories can be posted here. I repeat - do NOT fall into any of the other categories. If you ask "can ___ beat ___" here, it will be removed.

STAFF ONLY | News and Announcements: Announcements related to the Wiki made by Staff of the Wiki. Anyone not afilliated with the DBW staff or Fandom staff caught posting in this category will be warned.
