Wiz: Dio Brando, everlasting adversary of the Joestar bloodline.

Boomstick: Alucard, undying enforcer of the Hellsing Organization.

Wiz: Vampires: the spawn of nightmares formed from the blackest pits of man's demented imagination.

Boomstick: Anime: basically the same thing. What do ya get when you combine them? Two of the meanest monsters out there!

We cut to Wiz and Boomstick.

Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.

Wiz: Imagine, if you can, someone so wicked that the sheer magnitude of their unholy dickishness literally destroyed the universe.

Boomstick: You might think they'd have to be no less than the Devil himself. But it was him, Dio.

Wiz: Born a penniless street rat with a cunning mind in the slums of Victorian London, Dio was humiliated by his poverty and abused by his alcoholic father.

Boomstick: His bitter resentment and small dick energy would lead to a lifelong desire for ultimate power and immortality, to reach a place over heaven.

Wiz: And he'd get his chance to act when he was adopted into the wealthy Joestar Family. Dio planned to kill his new father, George Joestar, and take his fortune for himself. Only one thing stood in his way: his new brother, Jonathan Joestar, AKA... JoJo.

Boomstick: Dio tried to go all alpha wolf on JoJo by engaging in such classic sibling pranks as beating him up, molesting his girlfriend, and setting his dog on fire! Jesus! You give that creepy dog murderer what for, JoJo!

Wiz: But after years of emotional manipulation, Dio's twisted assassination plot was foiled by his righteous step-brother.

Boomstick: With help from the interfering Speedwagon. All seemed lost until Dio pulled out his Plan B: an ancient stone mask that turned him into a vampire! That's just bizarre.

Wiz: Okay, so he's not technically a vampire like, say, Dracula. Instead of turning you into an unholy demon, the Stone Mask eliminates your body's natural limitations.

Boomstick: Making him way stronger, faster, and tougher than any human. He can hear a heartbeat through the ground, fly through the air, and hypnotize you with just a glance.

Wiz: It gets weirder. Dio can create mind-controlling flesh buds from his hair follicles, vaporize the moisture in his body to freeze anything he touches, and fire beams of pressurized fluids that can split the sky.

Boomstick: Pressurized fluids? Heh heh. Oh, sometimes it's too easy, Wiz.

Boomstick: Even more insane is Dio's healing factor. He's been burnt alive, impaled through the head, bisected, decapitated, lost limbs, filled with bullets, and had a huge hole punched in his chest not once, not twice, but three times.

Wiz: Another similar vampire, Straits, survived being blown to pieces and just pulled himself back together.

Boomstick: All Dio needs is some blood to speed up the process. So he is basically a vampire! Though I guess the fangs are just for decoration because he sucks blood through his fingers! Eugh!

Wiz: Dio used his powers to raise a zombie army to conquer the world... and feed a baby to its own mother... Just for kicks!

Boomstick: We've met a lot of real pieces of shit on this show, Wiz, but I'm startin' to think Dio takes the cake. Luckily, his plans were foiled again by his old frenemy JoJo, who beat Dio's ass with a martial art that uses the power of the Sun: Hamon.

Wiz: Because, should Dio's vampire body be subjected to sunlight, he will instantly disintegrate.

Boomstick: So, what did Dio do? Well, he cut off his own head, killed Jonathan on his wedding night, and attached his head to JoJo's body. Wow, cake taken, for sure.

Wiz: After a brief century in a coffin at the bottom of the ocean, DIO resurfaced in Egypt and tried once again to take over the world. His ultimate goal was to create a world where everyone knew their own fate and could make peace with the inevitable tragedies life had in store. In DIO's mind, heaven.

Boomstick: And he'd make it happen no matter how many breads he'd have to eat.

We cut to Wiz and Boomstick.

Wiz: After being struck by a mystical arrow — sure, why not? — DIO gained a Stand, the embodiment of a user's life force. Since they're made of psychic energy, Stands can only be seen by Stand users, and can only be hurt by other Stands. Quite the obstacle for any opponent lacking similar abilities.

Boomstick holds a Stand Arrow and cuts himself with it.

Boomstick: Ow!

Suddenly, out of thin air, Boomstick gains a Stand of his own: a floating beer can with his trademark hat and mustache.

Boomstick: Hey! Look Wiz, I got a Stand! I call it... "99 Bottles"!

99 Bottles: ORA!

99 Bottles touches Wiz, turning him into a giant beer can.

Boomstick: Oh shit! Uh, don't worry Wiz, I'll change you back with your de-transmode, de-transma-ga, trans-meh-geh... Ooh look, a giant beer!

Boomstick opens the giant can and drinks it.

Boomstick: Ahhhh.....

We cut back to the analysis.

Wiz: As befits a god among men, DIO received one of the most powerful Stands in history: The World-

Boomstick: Za Warudo!

The World's time-stopping sound is played.

Wiz: ...With its ability to stop time.

Boomstick: Time, huh? Thanks for the—

Wiz promptly slaps Boomstick before he can finish.

Boomstick: OW! Well, not only does his time stop get longer with each use, he can spam it as much as he likes. He's a massive troll.

Wiz: The World is absurdly strong and fast, able to match the Stand Star Platinum, which belongs to Jonathan's great-great-grandson, Jotaro Kujo. He technically inherited it from DIO through Jonathan's body and bloodline, making Star Platinum and The World the same Stand.

Boomstick: And both are two of the strongest Stands out there. Just as strong as Stone Free, which can punch meteors that were pulled to Earth in seconds.

Wiz: By measuring the distance the meteors are from Earth, we can estimate they were moving at over 11 million meters per second. Factoring in their mass, they'd each have a kinetic energy of 441 kilotons of TNT.

Boomstick: Not that crazy when you can throw punches that are faster than light. No really, Star Platinum kept up with this Stand, Silver Chariot, which could cut a beam of light.

Wiz: Looking at the interval Silver Chariot's sword swung relative to the light beam, it must've moved over 1,500 times the speed of light, and DIO himself has matched Star Platinum on his own, and taken his punches head-on.

Boomstick: Yeah, yeah, but that's nothin' compared to DIO's secret weapon, the greatest weapon in anime history.

DIO: ROAD ROLLER-DA!

Boomstick: The steamroller! Turns out DIO's a hell of a chef; he can make pancakes and donuts!

Wiz: Even so, despite having a massive god complex, DIO's still a careful tactician, capable of exploiting an opponent's weaknesses.

Boomstick: Too bad he wasn't prepared for Jotaro to learn how to stop time too and murder the shit out of him. That's some hardcore karma right there. But it only makes sense that a dog murderer would die like a bitch.

Wiz: But much like the machinations of great and terrible men, DIO's will was immortal. In time, his greatest follower succeeded in extinguishing the Joestar bloodline and literally remaking the universe in DIO's image, creating that heaven he always dreamed of.

Boomstick: I guess when you're named after a rock star, a movie star, and uh, oh that's right, God, you're pretty much bound for greatness.

Dio: You thought your first kiss would be JoJo. But it was I, Dio!

Wiz: How blessed are some people whose lives have no fears, no dreads, for though the world seems full of good men, there are monsters in it.

Boomstick: But don't worry, jolly ol' England has it covered with the Hellsing Organization.

Wiz: Founded by famous vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, and led by his descendant, Integra, this secret government institution has saved the world time and again with their secret weapon.

Boomstick: And what better weapon to hunt vampires than with one of their very own? The No-Life King, the Bird of Hermes: Alucard.

Wiz: To most, his origin was shrouded in mystery. But under Hellsing's employ, he was molded into an elite hunter, made even more vicious by his intense hatred of his fellow vampire kind.

Boomstick: A hatred that he expresses with two of the gnarliest handguns you'll ever pray to your infinite god to never see in person.

Wiz: Alucard's primary sidearm is the Casull, a behemoth of a handgun able to kill most undead in one shot with holy bullets that can nullify a vampire's healing factor.

Boomstick: The Jackal is the handgun she told you not to worry about. 16 inches long and weighing 35 pounds, its armor-piercing hollow-point bullets, jacketed and blessed in Macedonian silver, were built to annihilate the toughest monsters.

Wiz: And after decades of clandestine experimentation, Hellsing enhanced Alucard's vampiric abilities far beyond the norm.

Boomstick: Alucard can walk through walls, cast illusions, levitate, and move objects with his mind. Objects like, say, an ocean of over three million people's blood?! That'd be an energy worth half a ton of TNT.

Wiz: His psychic prowess allows him to read minds, communicate telepathically, hypnotize with a glance, and see through hallucinations with his third eye.

Boomstick: He's not a triclops. It's more of a sixth sense that lets him hit bullseyes from a kilometer away and even predict your movements. Kinda like the Sharingan.

Wiz: Of course, he wouldn't be a real vampire if he couldn't drink blood. The catch is, when he drinks enough blood to kill you, he literally absorbs your soul. And that right there is the source of his most fearsome ability.

Boomstick: Ya just can't kill the son' bitch! Shoot him into swiss cheese, blow his ass to smithereens, turn him into a literal blood puddle, he'll just regenerate his body lickety-split. Like, we've seen some overpowered healing factors on this show before, but Alucard's is just bullshit!

We cut to Wiz and Boomstick.

Wiz: While he does possess blood and organs like a regular human, Alucard's body is, in reality, composed of an ethereal, shadow-like substance that he can morph any way he wants. This allows him to shapeshift and instantly heal any wound, and each soul Alucard has consumed acts as an extra "life" that he can spend whenever he's fatally injured. Kind of like a video game.

Boomstick: And after 500 years of un-life, Alucard has consumed literally millions of souls!

99 Bottles appears out of nowhere.

99 Bottles: ORA!

99 Bottles then turns Wiz into a giant can of beer again.

Boomstick: Yay, more beer!

But surprisingly, Wiz reverts back to himself, to Boomstick's dismay.

Wiz: Just like me.

99 Bottles: ORA!

99 Bottles turns Wiz into a giant beer... again, to Boomstick's joy. We cut back to the analysis.

Boomstick: Hellsing needed a beast as fearsome as Alucard to take on Millennium, AKA, Nazi vampires. That's like evil squared.

Wiz: Like when Millennium S.S. Lieutenant Rip Van Winkle commandeered a British aircraft carrier as part of an invasion of London.

Boomstick: Alucard didn't like that very much, so he jack-knifed it with an SR-71 Blackbird at Mach 3!

Wiz: A fully loaded Blackbird weighs 170,000 pounds, meaning it struck with a kinetic energy of 11 tons of TNT. That's as powerful as the U.S. Massive Ordnance Air Blast.

Boomstick: AKA, the Mother of All Bombs! And Al was in the middle of that and strolled down like it was nothin'.

Wiz: Just as impressive as intercepting Rip's magic bullets. Comparing the distance one bullet moved to the jet in the same time frame as the jet's own movement, each bullet would have to be moving at 1,500 times the speed of sound.

Boomstick: And Alucard caught one with his frickin' teeth! And after giving Rip's name a new meaning, he drove that aircraft carrier back to shore with his mind to fight two separate armies at the same time. What a goddamn monster!

Wiz: It goes without saying that Alucard's immense power and bloodlust needed to be controlled, so six restriction levels were placed on him that he can release against dangerous opponents.

Boomstick: Levels Six through Two are for wreckin' your ordinary ghouls. Level One is for your heavy duty vampires and for gettin' this gnarly demon doggo made from his shadow essence, Baskerville.

Wiz: But there exists an even greater state of power Alucard can release when he wants to end the world: Level Zero.

Boomstick: Once activated, Level Zero releases every single soul Alucard has consumed as a sea of blood-soaked zombies. All three million of 'em.

Wiz: Sure, with his souls gone, he can't heal as easily, and if his heart is destroyed, he'll die permanently. But, the sheer numbers and power of this army from Hell makes him virtually impossible to approach in the first place.

Boomstick: He's unstoppable. This guy's got to be like, the king of all vampires.

Wiz: Indeed, he is. Hellsing purposely kept Alucard's true identity a secret. All in the codename. Alucard backwards is—

Boomstick: DRACULA?! Yeah duh, Wiz. Idiot.

Wiz: Over 500 years ago, the Wallachian Voivode, Vlad Dracula, battled the Ottoman Turks for control over Eastern Europe, and impaled thousands of people in the process. Hence his historical name... "Vlad the Impaler".

Boomstick: But things didn't end up too good for him. Right before his execution, he took a big old sip of some blood from the battlefield, sacrificing his humanity in order to become an immortal creature of the night.

Wiz: And that is when the legend was born. But it wasn't anything Dracula was proud of. He grew to despise his monstrous nature and saw it as cowardice. The main reason he hated other vampires so much was that he really... hated himself.

Boomstick: Aw, that's deep, Wiz. Maybe that's why he always lets his enemies rip into him like a piñata of self-loathing. His crazy OP healing factor will fix everything anyways.

Wiz: Millennium would exploit this arrogance by tricking Alucard into absorbing the soul and abilities of Schrödinger, a German catboy who controls his own quantum state. This grants him pseudo-omnipresence and immortality. He can exist everywhere and nowhere, and cannot die so long as he can recognize his own existence.

Boomstick: But, because Al had three million souls kickin' around inside him, Schrödy couldn't recognize himself anymore, forcing him, and thus Alucard, to fade out of existence.

Wiz: So Alucard spent 30 years killing the other three million souls inside of him until he could return to reality and his master. He undid his own unexistence.

Boomstick: No matter how spoopy the threat, Alucard will show no mercy. He's just waiting for the day he meets a noble human warrior strong enough to end his un-life for good.

Wiz: But should he face a fellow monster, a fool who rejected their humanity like himself, he'll let loose the dogs of war, and all Hell will sing.

Alucard: I'm a dog? Then you're dog food.

He then unleashes Baskerville to devour Luke Valentine.

In London at the dead of night, an old-fashioned car is seen driving down the moonlit road. Ahead of it, a familiar red-clad figure is taking a stroll: the secret weapon of the Hellsing organization, Alucard. Sensing something wrong, Alucard pulls out his Casull handgun and fires a round into the driver's seat, causing the car to crash into a lamppost and catch fire. From out of the wreckage emerges another familiar face: the bane of the Joestars himself, DIO. He discards the corpse of a woman whose blood he drank and confronts the other vampire, lamenting the interruption of his leisure time.

DIO: (sighs) You interrupted my dinner.

Alucard: Funny, I was just thinking about having mine.

Undeterred by his threat, DIO approaches his foe, taunting him into battle.

DIO: Then by all means... take a bite.

Alucard obliges, pulling out both Casull and the Jackal and firing a barrage of bullets. DIO effortlessly dodges most of them, before using The World's partly manifested arm to catch the last round. A small look of impressiveness appears on the Alucard's face before it is wiped off by DIO flicking said round back at his head. While his hat is lost and half his face has been blown off, Alucard continues the fight. He fires several more rounds at DIO, who dodges most of them and gets in close to claw at his opponent. Alucard retaliates with a continued barrage, but DIO outmaneuvers him, getting behind him and ripping his opponent in half with a flourish.

The torn halves of Alucard dissipate into shadows, reforming in the air behind DIO and continuing his assault of bullets. DIO decides to change his strategy, calling upon The World's time stop, knocking away the rounds, and retrieving throwing knives from the nearby Knives Inc. store, leaving its windows shattered. With time resumed, he throws a few of them towards Alucard, impaling him several times. Nonetheless, he powers through the attack and fires more rounds at his foe. DIO laughs arrogantly as the shots miss him. He pulls out more golden knives.

DIO: (laughs) Checkmate!

He freezes time again and leaves behind a knife storm that turns Alucard into a pin cushion once it resumes. As Alucard's impaled body drops to its knees, DIO approaches his fallen foe and taunts his apparent demise.

DIO: How oh so very weak, dog. You thought you'd triumph, but it was I...

He suddenly stops in his tracks.

DIO: ...DIO?

To his surprise, Alucard's "corpse" proves to be an illusion. The true Alucard reappears behind the shocked DIO, covered in eyes as he prepares to release Restraint Level One. The Black Hound Baskerville emerges from Alucard's arm, biting down on and slamming DIO into the ground, causing him to scream in pain.

Alucard: (laughs) If I'm a dog... you're dog food.

Baskerville gnaws on DIO before tossing him into the air. As it lunges forward for a finishing bite, DIO uses the time stop to disappear from sight. Baskerville returns to its master, who looks around for his enemy before a shadow falls on him. He proceeds to look up.

Alucard: Huh?

The camera cuts to DIO coming down fast, a Road Roller in hand ready to crush his foe.

DIO: ROAD ROLLER-DA!

With a crash, he crushes Alucard, before delivering a flurry of punches to the vehicle.

DIO: MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA!

He reels his arm back once more...

DIO: MUDA!

...and delivers the final blow to the steamroller, jumping away in time for it to explode in flames. Confident in his victory this time, DIO is surprised yet again when shadows begin to manifest around the wreckage. Alucard's demonic voice resonates with a chilling threat.

Alucard: (laughs) I'm gonna enjoy hearing you scream.

A mass of shadows emerges from the site, with The World attempting to strike it before quickly realizing the futility and retreating. DIO is suddenly pushed back in a sea of blood that begins to envelop the entire area. When it clears, DIO is left panting on the ground, having lost his jacket and headband. Ghouls emerge from the bloody torrent and begin to attack. DIO and his Stand begin to engage them, tearing most of them to pieces, although not without DIO taking some injuries. Shocked at his opponent's eldritch abilities, DIO demands to know what he is.

DIO: What the hell are you?!

From out of the shadows, where Alucard once was now stands the Lord of Wallachia, Vlad Dracula, who responds with a twisted voice.

Alucard: A real fucking vampire!

He lifts his hand and sends DIO flying back with his telekinesis, causing him to crash into the Elizabeth Tower, the clock tower of Big Ben. Dracula morphs back into Alucard and summons giant shadowy hands to carry him to his foe. DIO uses The World to jump to the higher levels of the clock tower, preparing for the arrival of his enemy. Alucard climbs on top of a nearby building and leaps at DIO with one of his shadowy hands stretched out.

The World promptly punches it into nothingness, before Alucard pulls out his handguns once again in an effort to shoot down his enemy. DIO deftly dodges all the shots while retreating further up the Elizabeth Tower.

Alucard's ocean of blood returns, enveloping the tower, causing ghouls to begin to climb their way up. Growling in annoyance, DIO rips off one of the clock tower's hands, striking Alucard to stop his advance. Pushed back, Alucard uses his telekinetic abilities once more, ripping the other clock's hand off and using it as a remote sword. After briefly fencing, Alucard tries to deliver an impaling blow, which DIO avoids. He runs up the now embedded hand and throws his own clock hand directly at Alucard, impaling him and causing him to crash into a nearby building.

Realizing that the ghouls are nearly upon him, DIO leaps towards his main opponent, who has propelled himself into the air with his shadowy arms. DIO tackles Alucard, who manages to pull out both his Casull and Jackal and points them directly at DIO's face, admonishing his foe's monstrosity.

Alucard: You want blood, you disgusting monster?!

DIO bites down on the handguns in defiance, cracking them, before a hole is blown through the back of his head.

Alucard: Choke on your own.

Alucard repeatedly fires in an attempt to end his adversary once and for all. DIO is not down for the count though, grabbing Alucard's arms and freezing them. Determined to prevent the frost from reaching his body, Alucard tears his own arms off, relinquishing his guns, while regenerating his arms into scythes. As Alucard and his ghoul army bear down on DIO, he makes his intentions clear.

DIO: I want... to rule... THE WORLD!!!

As he proclaims this, The World appears behind him as time stops once again, allowing him to plunge his fingers into Alucard's chest and drink his blood. Rejuvenated, he does a backflip and fires his Space Ripper Stingy Eyes to destroy Alucard and his army, resulting in a bloody explosion when time resumes. The blood of the former army begins to rain on the ground as Alucard's heart flies up into the air before he reforms once more.

Meanwhile, DIO falls to the ground, but he uses The World to boost himself off a piece of building back towards his enemy. As he flies forward, DIO tries to egg Alucard into finishing the fight.

DIO: Face me, Vampire King!

The camera focuses in on DIO's ecstatic face.

DIO: BOW TO YOUR NEW GOD!!!

Alucard forms wings from his shadows and invokes the full extent of his power.

Alucard: The Bird of Hermes is my name. Eating my wings... to make me tame.

Forming a massive shadow arm, he throws a punch towards DIO, while he prepares to throw a punch of his own. Before they can clash, DIO uses The World's time stop once more, disappearing from Alucard's sight and reappearing behind him, striking his infamous pose with menacing kanji (ゴ) floating around him. Alucard can only look on in shock as DIO gloats over his opponent's inferiority.

DIO: Useless, useless, useless...

He proclaims as such, clenching his fist...

DIO: MUDA!

...and calling upon The World to punch through Alucard's chest and crush his heart. DIO unleashes a vicious Stand Rush on his now vulnerable foe, who can do nothing against the barrage.

DIO: MUDA MUDA! MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA!

The World winds up its fist...

DIO: MUDAAAAAAAAAAAA!

...and it and DIO finish off count with one final blow that reduces him to a bloody smear. The World disappears as its master immediately dives back down to the ground and poses victoriously beneath the shower of blood that once was Alucard, who remains dead for good.

DIO: WRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

A "The End" screen reminiscent of the "To Be Continued" screen from JoJo pops up, closing the fight out.

We cut to Wiz and Boomstick.

Boomstick: Alucard pulled out all the stops, but like the blood he drank, it was in "vein". Ahhh, finger guns!

Wiz: He may have been the king of the vampires in Hellsing, but DIO had everything he needed to clip the Bird of Hermes' wings.

Boomstick: Alucard's strategy in most fights is to heal from an opponent's attacks until they get tired, then take advantage of an opening. But he couldn't do that here because DIO didn't really have any openings. And Alucard wasn't nearly as strong or as fast to compensate.

We cut to the post-analysis.

Wiz: Alucard could survive crashing that jet and move 1,500 times faster than sound, but scaling from Stone Free and Silver Chariot, The World could punch relativistic meteors and move 1,500 times faster than light. That would make DIO nearly 40,000 times stronger and 800,000 times faster than Alucard.

Boomstick: Hell, Alucard couldn't even see or hurt The World in the first place, because he's not a Stand user. And since Stone Mask vampires from JoJo aren't weak to holy weapons like Hellsing vampires are, Al's guns were more or less dead weight.

Wiz: Plus, Alucard just had no way to get past the time stop. Even if he did somehow, DIO could just freeze him on contact.

Boomstick: And considering DIO has taken punches from Star Platinum, Al would've had trouble doin' damage even if he got the chance.

Wiz: DIO's far greater speed and power meant that, given enough time, he could realistically kill Alucard three million times in quick succession. Without any viable options for attack or openings to exploit, Alucard's soul-based regeneration meant he would run out of lives eventually, and Level Zero only sped up that process.

Boomstick: Sure, that army's nothin' to scoff at, but consider the time Dio's eye beams split those huge-ass clouds.

Wiz: Estimating the size of the clouds and the speed at which they moved, Dio's beams must have output an energy of over 10 megatons of TNT, enough to wipe out Alucard's army in one go, leaving him... vulnerable. Just like when this other vampire, Walter, could've killed him by piercing his heart. Alucard's even admitted it himself.

Boomstick: Hell, Alucard's army is filled with blood. You know, that thing that DIO uses to heal? But Wiz, what about Schrödinger? With his powers, Al can't die unless he chooses to!

Wiz: While Schrödinger's quantum immortality makes him impossible to kill normally, it is literally part of the story that Alucard cannot have Schrödinger's abilities and his greater array of powers at the same time, or else he'll no longer exist. We can't give him both Schrödinger and his standard powers without breaking the lore and rules of the character.

Boomstick: Even if we did, it doesn't really matter. It doesn't help him kill DIO at all, so at best, it'd be a stalemate... until DIO hypnotizes Alucard, asks him about his powers, and forces him to eject Schrödy like the rest of his souls.

We cut to Wiz and Boomstick.

Wiz: Shocking though it may be, DIO's overwhelming offence, impenetrable defense, and uniquely devastating abilities wore Alucard down until the No-Life King had no lives left.

Boomstick: Alucard got Di-owned!

Wiz: Ugh, Boomstick, you tell the worst puns in The World.

Boomstick: That's right, and you're just gonna have to "DIO" with it. And hey, wait a minute, that was a pun, THAT'S MY TERRITORY, WE TALKED ABOUT THIS!!

We cut to the "Winner" card.

Wiz: The winner is Dio—

DIO: ZA WARUDO!!!

Composition

The track for this fight is "Hell Over Heaven" by Therewolf Media feat. Cameron Sather (who goes uncredited on the track cover). It is a dramatic and intense metal piece mainly focused on electric guitar, possibly homaging Ronnie James Dio, whom DIO was named after. The intro of the track is jazzy, resembling Alucard's theme, while clock-ticking representing The World's time stop, sinister-sounding violins, and a choir can be heard in various parts throughout it. Ironically, a rendition of Jotaro's theme is played at the end of the track for DIO's beatdown and victory over Alucard.

Title

The title refers to Alucard's home series (Hellsing) and the Hellsing Organization, as well as a form of DIO's Stand (The World Over Heaven) and the title of a light novel that transcribes DIO's Diary. It also references the opposing religious motifs of the two combatants.

Cover Art

The cover art is shown through Alucard's perspective, with his Jackal and Casull guns pointing towards DIO's steamroller, nine of his knives, and backward-facing menacing kanji from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, with a large red eye of Alucard's looming in the background.

Trivia

Production

  • The connections between DIO and Alucard are that they are both sadistic, egotistical anime vampires who have a healing factor which makes them extremely difficult to kill. Both were abused as children and became vampires to escape a dire situation (Dio put on the Stone Mask to avoid getting arrested, and Alucard drank blood to save himself from being executed). Both plagued England in the 19th century before being sealed away for long periods of time after being defeated by human vampire slayers, whom they gained respect for (Jonathan Joestar and Abraham Van Helsing, respectively), and were later reawakened and released in the late 20th century. After their defeat, both had their names changed (Dio Brando to DIO and Vlad Dracula to Alucard). Both can summon allies to their sides in battle (DIO's Stand, The World, and Alucard's Familiars), and at the height of their power, control a part of reality (stopping time and becoming omnipresent, respectively). Both also have loyal subordinates whom they turned into vampires (Vanilla Ice and Seras Victoria, respectively).
    • This is also a battle of opposites:
      • Dio was born a pauper and a nobody, while Alucard was a warlord of noble blood.
      • Both hold opposing viewpoints on humanity and their vampirism (Dio gladly discarded his humanity in exchange for power he constantly seeks and sees humans as inferior, whereas Alucard despises all vampires who threw away their humanity, including himself, while wishing to be slain by a worthy human and seeing beauty in their mortality). These viewpoints made them react to their defeats and treat the families of their enemy oppositely (Dio sought to destroy the Joestars as he viewed them as a threat, whereas Alucard became the Hellsing family's loyal servant to help them hunt down other vampires).
      • Both have contrasting relationships with priests (Enrico Pucci is DIO's best friend and loyal follower due to his plan to achieve heaven, while Alexander Anderson is rivals with Alucard and hunts him for being an unholy being, with Alucard welcoming him as a challenger).
      • Both have opposing religious motifs; DIO has a holy theme (as his name translates to "God" in Italian, his son defeats a man whose name translates to "Devil" in Italian, he has a god-complex, wants to create Heaven, and is both friends with and worshipped by a priest) while Alucard has a demonic theme (as he serves the Hellsing Organization, Hellsing vampires are demonic beings, and his greatest enemy is a priest).
    • Coincidentally, one of Alucard's earliest opponents in his home series, Luke Valentine, holds many similarities to DIO, being a flamboyant, blond vampire who favored using daggers and happened to share both his English and Japanese voice actors (Patrick Seitz and Takehito Koyasu, respectively) with DIO.
    • Both DIO and Alucard's English voice actors (Patrick Seitz and Crispin Freeman, respectively) have voiced Dracula from Castlevania.
  • Ironically, before ScrewAttack rebranded to be solely focused on Death Battle content, they released a Top 10 Strongest Vampires video, in which DIO was ranked at number two and Alucard at number one.
  • This episode was foreshadowed in the previous season during Sabrewulf VS Jon Talbain, where Boomstick remarked if Sabrewulf was actually a vampire in his analysis, to which Wiz responded with "No, that's for next year."
    • It was also hinted at earlier in this season at the end of Doctor Doom's analysis preview for Lex Luthor VS Doctor Doom, where Boomstick questioned Wiz on why he made him do so much research on Dracula, only to see the paper was flipped around with it actually being on Alucard. However, before Boomstick could finish saying the name, Wiz stopped him and told him not to throw them away, saying that "Those notes may be important for the future."
  • As revealed in the storyboards made by John Mitchell, a fight scene in-between the scenes of Alucard releasing Level One and DIO crushing Alucard with the Road Roller was cut from the final episode.
    • The boards also reveal a cut line of Alucard's, "This is more fun than I've had in a while," which can be heard in the Season 8 Returns trailer.
    • It also reveals that the Elizabeth Tower was supposed to be sliced in half via DIO's Space Ripper Stingy Eyes, and that DIO's victory pose and final line were supposed to take place on the roof of a building with the bifurcated clock tower in the background.
  • The animation of Alucard firing the Casull at DIO's car at the start of the fight is reused from the Alucard VS Dio Brando DBX.

Easter Eggs

  • The last bullet point in DIO's "Background" slide, "Was down too long in the midnight sea" (referring to how he was in a coffin underwater for 100 years), is a reference to a lyric from the song "Holy Diver" by Ronnie James Dio, the inspiration for DIO's name.
  • Sheer Heart Attack can be seen amongst the grenades thrown at Straits on-screen as Wiz explains how the vampire regenerated after exploding into pieces in DIO's analysis.
  • Fitting the trend of JoJo Stand names referencing the names of songs, albums, and/or musicians, Boomstick names his Stand after the classic folk song "99 Bottles of Beer" after obtaining it in DIO's analysis cutaway.
  • Boomstick remarking on how DIO would achieve his idea of heaven "no matter how many breads he'd have to eat" in his analysis is a reference to his memetic "Do you know many breads you have eaten in your life?" line from Phantom Blood.
  • Boomstick saying "Time huh? Thanks for the—" before being slapped by Wiz after he mentions The World's time stop in DIO's analysis is a reference to the infamous line from Ben 10 VS Green Lantern, which has since become a meme in the Death Battle community.
  • Boomstick saying DIO can "make donuts" in his analysis while Kakyoin's death is shown on-screen is a reference to a popular joke amongst the JoJo community.
  • Wiz saying "Alucard backwards is-" before being cut off by Boomstick exclaiming "DRACULA?!" in Alucard's analysis may be a reference to a similar exchange in Hellsing Ultimate Abridged, a parody series which Alucard's voice actor, Curtis Arnott, reprises his role from in this episode.
  • The car DIO was riding in at the beginning of the fight is likely a reference to how he hijacked a similar-looking car in Stardust Crusaders while pursuing Joseph and Kakyoin across Cairo.
  • The woman that DIO pulls out of the car and drinks blood from has the same sprite as Mai Shiranui, albeit with purple clothes rather than red.
  • DIO retrieving his knives from a nearby store rather than from his own person (as he does in canon) may be inspired by the 1993 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure OVA, in which DIO grabs his knives from a nearby restaurant.
  • DIO's line "You thought you triumphed, but it was I... Dio?" is a reference to his memetic line "You thought your first kiss would be JoJo, but it was I, Dio!", which was also referenced by Boomstick at the start of his analysis and used as his end-of-analysis clip.
  • Alucard's line "If I'm a dog... you're dog food." is a reference to a similar line of his from Hellsing that he told Luke Valentine before killing him with Baskerville, which was used for his end-of-analysis clip.
  • Alucard's line "A real fucking vampire." is a direct reference to one of his first lines from Hellsing Ultimate Abridged.
  • The "The End" screen seen at the end of the battle is a reference to the "To Be Continued" screen from JoJo, which has since become a popular meme.
  • Boomstick's complaint of how Wiz used a pun in the post-analysis and how they talked about it before is a call-back to the times when he was unimpressed by the various puns Wiz made throughout the show's history, such as his brain stem pun in Wolverine VS Raiden and his heroine pun in Amy Rose VS Ramona Flowers.

Errors

  • In DIO's "Background" slide, his height is listed as 185cm, 10cm less than his actual height and his given height in Imperial units.
  • When DIO says "I want... to rule... THE WORLD!!!", his earring is missing.
  • At the end of the fight, after DIO uses his time stop to get behind Alucard to do his pose, when the camera cuts a close-up of his sprite, the Joestar Birthmark disappears from his back.
  • As DIO finishes his MUDA MUDA Barrage on Alucard, he winds up The World's right arm in preparation for the final hit, but when the scene changes to sprites again, The World hits Alucard with its left arm.
  • A small black rectangle can be seen behind the first E in the "DEATH BATTLE!" logo on Hell Over Heaven's track cover.
