Death Battle '24[Note 1] will be the set of Death Battle episodes released in 2024. It premiered on October 6th, 2024 and is planned to consist of four episodes.
It was originally set to release as Season 11, but was later changed following the show becoming independent[1] and forgoing the seasonal format.[2]
Changes
- Death Battle is now fully independent, no longer being owned by Rooster Teeth.
- Episodes in this year were instead funded through the Save Death Battle Kickstarter.
- Episodes will now be released on a constant, monthly schedule every three weeks rather than a seasonal, bi-weekly one.[2]
- As a result, the traditional season structure established in Season 3 will no longer be used, with the current plan being 12 episodes per year starting in 2025. However, it was also stated on multiple occasions that this is to be a minimum they wish to maintain, meaning more frequent releases are potentially possible and this schedule is not set in stone.
- For this year, episodes will be released every three weeks.[3]
- Official tracks are now distributed by DistroKid, as the Death Battle team had cut ties with TuneCore due to Rooster Teeth's dissolvement.
- Additionally, because of Death Battle's newfound independence, this also results in the track covers no longer including the "Score from the Rooster Teeth Series" subtext beneath the track musician's name going forward.
- Furthermore, newer track releases are now meant to be released based on location instead of time zone.[4]
- Interludes now start with Boomstick saying both combatants' names in the episode's title followed by Wiz giving them an epithet, rather than him and Wiz each saying one of their names and giving them an epithet, followed by Wiz summarizing the theme of the matchup. This is due to the YouTube viewer retention rates for the interludes being consistently low, and hence they were trimmed down.[5]
- Due to more limited resources following Rooster Teeth's closure, animated segments of Wiz and Boomstick have currently been cut to focus resources on the rest of the episodes' contents.
- Credits now start near the end of the post-analysis rather than after it finishes.
- Next Time trailers at the end of each episode now take up the top half of the screen rather than the left, showcase a short teaser of the fight animation, and return to having Boomstick announce them since he last did so in Scrooge McDuck VS Shovel Knight.

Confirmed Combatants
These are all the combatants who were confirmed to appear in this season prior to their episode being officially announced in a Next Time trailer.
Tournament of Champions
Back when it was known as Season 11, members of Death Battle's paid YouTube membership were able to submit matchups into a ballot in the official Discord server to potentially become episodes, from which the crew then selected a total of 32 and put into a tournament that members could vote in, with the winning matchup becoming a guaranteed episode. Unlike the prior season's ballot, losing matchups are not deconfirmed from being in the season, with the winning matchup simply being the only explicit guarantee going into it. Several losing matchups were indeed confirmed later on, including Kratos VS Asura, Hulk VS Godzilla, and Gru VS Megamind.
The tournament started on September 12th, 2023 and ended on December 5th, 2023. Every week on DEATH BATTLE Cast during this period, a new bracket was announced, along with the winner of the previous bracket. The winner was Wile E. Coyote VS Tom Cat, though it will presumably be released in Death Battle '25.
This bracket was announced and started on September 12th and ended on September 19th. Approximately 2,100 votes were cast.

Trivia
- Aside from a ScrewAttack poll determining the opponent for what would become Zitz VS Leonardo, this is the second time fans could vote for unique matchups, after Season 10's Champion's Poll.
- In King Mickey's analysis preview in 2021, there was a joke where Boomstick planned to replace Wiz with Mickey Mouse as the new co-host of Death Battle due to Steamboat Willie entering the public domain in 2024. While the Steamboat Willie short film and other various early appearances of Mickey would indeed enter the public domain at the start of the year, it is currently unclear whether what Wiz and Boomstick had in mind for 2024 will be revealed/come to fruition.
- It should also be noted that Disney had trademarked the character, meaning that they will own Mickey until they no longer commercially use him no matter how much Mickey Mouse content becomes public domain.
- Some variation of the last two seasons' ballots is being planned, though specifics aren't being thought of until after the completion of last season's ballot winner.[6]
- If it were treated as a season, Death Battle '24 would have the lowest amount of episodes of any season of Death Battle, having 10 less episodes than Season 3, the previous shortest season.
Notes
- ↑ Due to the removal of the seasonal format, episodes are now internally categorized by years — e.g., all episodes released in 2024 are considered Death Battle '24.
- ↑ 2.0 2.1 Due to the crew taking a Thanksgiving break, the DEATH BATTLE Cast scheduled during Week 10 was prerecorded instead of livestreamed, resulting in Week 10's voting period being extended by a week. Due to this, the Final Week's voting would not begin until the following week during the next regularly scheduled Cast.
