Doctor Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik is the main antagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He appeared in the 19th episode of Death Battle, Eggman VS Wily, where he and his Eggman Empire fought against Doctor Wily and his Wily Army from the Mega Man series. He returned for the 190th episode, Bowser VS Eggman, where he and his Eggman Empire fought against Bowser and his Koopa Troop from the Super Mario series.

History

In his youth, Ivo Robotnik looked up to his grandfather, Professor Gerald Robotnik, as a hero, feeling he was severely wronged in the past for his achievements. Thus, he chose to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and become a scientist. However, he soon grew obsessed with the concept of the entire world being under his rule, utterly convinced that the results of a world conquest he orchestrated would make the world a better place and benefit all its inhabitants. Using his unmatched IQ of 300, Robotnik began his plans, spending his entire life on his self-righteous mission. At some point after setting out on his quest for global domination, Doctor Robotnik encountered an abnormally fast blue hedgehog named Sonic, who would prove to be his greatest nemesis. As Sonic enjoys teasing his enemies, he has given his rival the nickname of "Eggman" due to his rotund body shape. Despite the insulting origin, Robotnik made that name his own, and to this day, Doctor Eggman keeps making several attempts to conquer the world, even if Sonic stands in his way at every turn.
