- —Fa Mulan
Fa Mulan is the main protagonist of the Mulan series. She appeared in the 78th episode of DBX, Mulan VS Lucina, where she fought against Lucina from the Fire Emblem series.
History
Fa Mulan was born in Imperial China as the only child of Fa Zhou, an aging veteran. Mulan was often frustrated by her lack of ability and desire to live up to her expected role as a future wife. When the Empire of China was invaded by the dreaded Huns, led by Shan Yu, the Emperor ordered a mobilization, calling up one man from each family. As Zhou was the only male in the Fa family, he volunteered to serve despite his aging condition, much to Mulan's dismay. Wanting to save her father from dying in war, she stole his sword and armor, cut her hair, and rode off to join the newly formed army, having disguised herself as a man.
Serving under Captain Li Shang, Mulan had trouble at first, but used her intelligence and determination to become one of the best soldiers in the unit. When her company faced the Huns, Mulan bravely used a rocket to start an avalanche, burying the Hun army. Unfortunately, she was wounded in the battle, which led to her gender being revealed. Because of her bravery, she was spared being executed for the crime of joining the army, but was shunned by Li Shang and the other soldiers and sent home in disgrace. However, before she could arrive home, she discovered that Shan Yu and five of his generals survived the avalanche and were heading for the Imperial City. After finding out the Huns kidnapped the Emperor, Mulan rounded up Shang and the rest of her friends and rescued the emperor together, but was left to confront Shan Yu alone. Using her intelligence, Mulan defeated Shan Yu and killed him with fireworks. Then, she returned home in triumph, the savior of China.
