Agent Maine (real name unknown) and the Sigma, Eta, Iota, Gamma, Theta, Omega, Beta, and Delta A.I. Fragments, collectively known as The Meta, are one of the main antagonists of the Red vs. Blue series. He appeared in the 64th episode of Death Battle, Meta VS Carolina, where he fought against fellow former Freelancers Agent Carolina and Epsilon.
History
Agent Maine was once a member of Project Freelancer, a research program set up to study skilled space marines with experimental artificial intelligences. Maine was one of their best, successfully completing several missions thanks to his immense strength and durability. Unfortunately, his whole life would change when he was shot several times in the throat during the mission to retrieve an asset called the Sarcophagus. Being unable to speak since the incident, his colleague Agent Carolina gifted him with her A.I., Sigma, to help him communicate with others. Little did either of them know that Sigma had a desire to become, in his words, "Meta-stable". He manipulated Maine into hunting down his fellow Freelancers, and take their A.I.'s in order to attain completion. With that, Agent Maine was dead, and "The Meta", a mindless drone controlled by A.I.s, was born.
