Kazekage Gaara is a protagonist from the Naruto series. He appeared in the 42nd episode of Death Battle, Gaara VS Toph, where he fought against Toph Beifong from the Avatar: The Last Airbender series.

History

Gaara was born in the Village Hidden in the Sand as the son of Rasa, the Fourth Kazekage. Before Gaara was born, his father did an experiment to seal Shukaku, the One-Tailed Beast, inside him in order to become the ultimate weapon for the village. Unfortunately, it didn't work as planned, as Gaara couldn't control the beast inside himself, making him attack innocent bystanders. Gaara would then lead a long life of loneliness even among his family that would lead him to become cold and cruel, believing his purpose in life to be little more than to kill people. That would all change after a fateful clash with Naruto Uzumaki, a fellow Jinchūriki who also knew the sting of loneliness. Inspired by Naruto's experiences and words, Gaara would return home and even became the Fifth Kazekage to protect his village and the people that inhabited it. He would continue to do so, even after Shukaku was removed from his body, and proved to be an invaluable ally in the Ninja War that would follow.
