Gamera is the main protagonist[Note 1] of the Gamera series. He appeared in the 35th episode of Death Battle, Godzilla VS Gamera, where he fought against Godzilla from the Godzilla series.
History
Many millennia ago, the ancient advanced civilization known as Atlantis found a way to play god and created life, called the Gyaos, enormous bird-like creatures meant to serve as weapons. Soon enough though, the Gyaos got out of control, somehow being able to asexually reproduce themselves. And through their destructive power and nature, they eventually destroyed their creators. In their last moments, the Atlanteans created a creature that would serve as the Guardian of Earth and would destroy the Gyaos, the terrapin-like beast Gamera. Said beast would go into hibernation after the Gyaos' defeat, until many years later, when rising levels of carbon dioxide and nitric acid compounds caused by global warming would awaken remnant Gyaos eggs. The guardian beast then reawoke, and since then, Gamera has not only fought the Gyaos again, but other monsters ranging from aliens to near-godlike beasts, always ready each time to protect the planet and its inhabitants... more specifically, human children.
