- —Godzilla
Godzilla is the main protagonist[Note 1] of the Godzilla series. He appeared in the 35th episode of Death Battle, Godzilla VS Gamera, where he fought against Gamera from the Gamera series. He will return for an upcoming episode, Hulk VS Godzilla, where he will fight against The Hulk from Marvel Comics.
History
Deep in the abyss of Earth's ocean, an ancient beast lay dormant while the world around it evolved and changed over eons. Nothing lasts forever, however, as in 1954, the United States tested their hydrogen bombs in the Pacific Ocean, inadvertently disturbing and awakening the beast, as well as mutating it in the process. It then burst from the shorelines of Japan, where it was known to them as "Gojira", and to American allies as "Godzilla". Wherever this titan goes, destruction is sure to follow, even when his intentions are mostly benevolent. Many a man-made war machine, ancient beast, alien creature, and advanced cyborg have joined the buildings and corpses that Godzilla has left in his path of destruction. And more often than not, this beast has come out on top, cementing his title as the King of the Monsters.
