Hellboy (born Anung Un Rama) is the main protagonist of the Hellboy series. He appeared in the 47th episode of DBX, Blade VS Hellboy, where he fought against Blade from Marvel Comics.
History
Anung Un Rama was conceived in 1574 when his mother, a witch named Sarah Hughes, became a consort to the demon Azzael. Despite Sarah's attempt to repent for her sins years later while on her death bed, Azzael claimed her so their child would be born, and chopped the newborn's right hand off to replace it with the Right Hand of Doom, a relic with the potential to bring about the world's end. Azzael then sent his half-demon child away when the other demons learned of his actions, making him appear on Earth in 1944, as part of a ritual by Grigori Rasputin for the Nazis' Project Ragna Rok.
The child appeared in the churchyard where his mother was abducted and was found by Professor Trevor Bruttenholm when he and a military group were investigating Project Ragna Rok. Bruttenholm befriended the infant, affectionately named him "Hellboy", and the demon child was raised in secret by the U.S. government and trained to be a paranormal investigator for the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. Eventually, with his demon heritage aging him slowly, Hellboy would meet Liz Sherman, Abe Sapien, and other agents of the BPRD, working alongside them to defend humanity while gradually also learning of his origins.
