Hitmonlee are creatures from the Pokémon series. One appeared in the ninth episode of DBX, Bruce Lee VS The World, where it, Liu Kang from the Mortal Kombat series, Fei Long from the Street Fighter series, Rock Lee from the Naruto series, and Marshall Law from the Tekken series fought against real life martial artist and actor Bruce Lee.
History
A Fighting-type Pokémon from the Kanto region, Hitmonlee is one of the three possible evolutions of the Pokémon Tyrogue, alongside the boxing Hitmonchan and the capoeirista Hitmontop. Evolving should a Tyrogue have an attack stat higher than its defense stat, Hitmonlee are perhaps most famous for their spring-like legs, which allow them to extend and contract their limbs to abnormal lengths. Alongside its diamond-like soles, this Pokémon has adapted to utilize a powerful, kick-based fighting style, using its uniquely flexible legs to strike targets with extreme dexterity, range, and power. Perhaps due to this, Hitmonlee have been regularly seen being used by powerful Fighting-type specialists, such as the the Karate King Kiyo, the Gym Leaders Chuck and Brawly, and Elite Four member Bruno. While it may not be the only kickboxing Pokémon within its type anymore, Hitmonlee regardless stand as one of its' most enduring specialists, enduring just as well as the martial artists they were named after.
