- —Kirby
Kirby is the main protagonist of the Kirby series. He appeared in the 40th episode of Death Battle, Kirby VS Majin Buu, where he fought against Majin Buu from the Dragon Ball series.
History
Kirby arrived in Dream Land one day, riding on the spring breeze, and he's been living happily ever since. He spends most of his days eating, napping, and playing with his many friends; in fact, almost everyone else in Dream Land shares a similar carefree lifestyle. This has attracted the unwanted attention of many malevolent forces, who either despise their happy nature or are envious of it. But although he may not look like it, Kirby has managed to fight off each and every one of them, while even making some new friends along the way. With noble allies by his side and his trademark Copy Ability, the pink puffball has proved himself a hero through and through, using his powers to protect Planet Popstar and save it, planets beyond, and even other worlds from the clutches of evil time and time again.

- Before it was decided Kirby would fight Majin Buu, a few other matchups for him were considered.
- Ditto was originally planned to happen, but during the script writing process for it, Ben Singer found the Kirby: Right Back At Ya! episode "The Big Taste Test", where Kirby threw a giant monster to the Sun and back on a giant frying pan. This caused him to make a last minute decision to scrap the episode, as he deemed Kirby was too powerful for Ditto after finding this feat.[1]
- An eating contest between Kirby, Son Goku, Snorlax, and Monkey D. Luffy, which Ben spent a whole week developing, was planned to replace Kirby VS Ditto. However, he thought that would be too difficult to make, and since the animator needed to begin working soon, Ben chose to scrap the eating contest and ultimately decided on Kirby VS Majin Buu instead.[1]
- Kirby's aformentioned feat of throwing Popon all the way to the Sun and back on a giant frying pan was considered to be the "most ridiculous feat" seen on Death Battle at the time of his original episode's release, a statement that has long since become outdated as more crazier feats were brought up in the show's later seasons.
Notes
- ↑ While Kirby made his proper debut in Kirby's Dream Land, which released on April 27th, 1992, two cameos of him can be seen in the opening cutscene of Arcana, which released a month earlier on March 27th, 1992.
