Officer Kyle Rayner, also known as the White Lantern (originally the Green Lantern), is a superhero from DC Comics. He appeared in the 196th episode of Death Battle, Simon the Digger VS Kyle Rayner, where he fought against Simon the Digger and Gurren Lagann from the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann series.
History
Kyle Rayner was once just an aspiring graphic artist who struggled to make rounds until one fateful day, when the last surviving Guardian of the Green Lantern Corps, Ganthet, bestowed Kyle the last Green Lantern Ring in existence. Prior to Ganthet's arrival, fellow Green Lantern Hal Jordan had gone on a grief-fueled rampage, massacring all of his former brethren in the universe after his corruption by a cosmic entity known as Parallax. While the ring granted Kyle the ability to conjure up energy constructs with just his willpower, his inexperience led him to struggle, as he had no one to guide him or his powers.
Soon, the appearance of a new Green Lantern piqued the interest of the U.S. government, who then sent the psychopathic secret operative Major Force to interrogate Kyle about a mysterious rock fragment. When Kyle returned home, he would not only find Force, but to his absolute horror, the corpse of his girlfriend inside the refrigerator as well. In an uphill battle, the stone fragment Force had brought turned out to be a Power Battery that recharged Kyle's Power Ring, allowing him to defeat the operative and turn him in to the authorities. Within his darkest hours, a grief-stricken Kyle was approached by surviving Green Lantern Alan Scott, who convinced him to continue his heroism so he could prepare for his upcoming confrontation against the corrupted Hal Jordan. After bringing Hal back to his senses, Kyle would go on to become one of the most powerful amongst his peers and even a White Lantern, his power being limited only by his boundless imagination.
