Metal Sonic VS Mega Man is the 69th episode of DBX, featuring Metal Sonic from the Sonic the Hedgehog series and Mega Man from the Mega Man series in a battle between blue power-copying video game robots.
Interlude
The scene opens with the lights flickering on in the arena and the camera panning over to reveal the large crowd of people watching the show. Ringmaster makes his appearance as he steps onto the main stage and walks towards his microphone which he then grabs in order to properly introduce himself to his audience.
Ringmaster: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to MY Arena where there's no rules, no research, only bloodshed! I am Ringmaster, your announcer, your host extraordinaire for this extravaganza! And let me welcome you, to, the EXHIBITION!!! In today's match, we have TWO batters! Blue bots! In this corner, we have the creation of Eggman, the spiky metal hedgehog, the abnormally large-headed, METAL SONIIIIC! And, in the other corner, we have the creation of Doctor Light, the blue brawler, the only acceptable child warrior, ROCK— uh oh, wait, MEGA MAAAANNNN! Let's size up the competition!
Comparison
Ringmaster: Both of these robots are blue and under 5 feet tall, but not only that, they're both capable of copying abilities! Metal Sonic just needs to do a quick scan of anyone or anything to mimic it, but Mega Man has to kill you first. Talk about brutal! Not only that, that's not the only ability they have in common, they can both fly! Pretty impressive since they're both at "Oh Lawd He's Comin'" weight. Metal Sonic is at a whopping 275.4 pounds, while Mega Man is shocker-ing at 230 L-B-S! Fit, am I right? But that's enough of what they have in common, let's talk about differences! Metal Sonic is much, MUCH faster than your average hedgehog, which by the way can only travel at a groundbreaking 4 Mph at tops.
An animation of Ringmaster as a hedgehog appears on screen.
Ringmaster: Metal Sonic on the other hand surpassed Mach 5 with that niffy jet engine built into his back! But there's more: Metal Sonic can fire balls of electricity, shoot plasma out of his midriff, and even generate a Black Shield that seems pretty. Freaking. Damn. Tough! Now, now, don't rule out Mega Man just yet. His arsenal is nearly as massive as MY ARENA! Hehehehehe!
Ringmaster appears on-screen whistling before getting shot by one of Mega Man's Mega Buster's projectiles.
Ringmaster: Of course, he has his nifty bleep bloop hand cannon, but he has so much more, like Napalm Bombs, Metal Blades, missiles, a flaming sword, a freaking Black Hole BOMB?! And et cetera et cetera- I mean, the list goes on and on. Let's just say he's got a tool for just about any pickle he's eating. Oh, and here's another neat fact: they can pull a power-up for a short amount of time. Metal Sonic can overload his circuits to go what I like to refer to as...
Yet another animation of Ringmaster appears, in which he dashes away from the screen.
Ringmaster: ...super duper faster, while Mega Man can use his Double Gear System to not only go faster, but also become more powerful. Now, if all else fails, they can transform. With enough teenage angst, and a lust for world domination, Metal Sonic turns into METAL OVERLORD. Basically a flipping dragon, while Mega Man can go into his Super Adaptor form combining with his robo-dog, which grants him flight and makes him doggone powerful! And also like half-dog.
We cut to Ringmaster.
Ringmaster: Either way, these two will put up a hell of a fight. So, without further ado, let the exhibition... BEGIIIIIIIIN!!!
Exhibition
Mega Man leaps into the air to blast away three Badniks, namely a Buzz Bomber, a Tentou, and an Oct. While the former two are destroyed, the Oct falls to the ground. As Mega Man prepares to destroy it with a Charge Shot, Metal Sonic uses his jet propulsor to rush towards the Blue Bomber, his eyes briefly flashing red. The robotic hedgehog collides with the Blue Bomber and creates an explosion that annihilates the remaining Badnik. As the smoke clears, Metal Sonic is seen holding the Mega Buster back.
Metal Sonic pushes Mega Man away and proceeds to pummel him before sending a blast of electricity at his opponent. Once Mega Man recovers, he protects himself with a Leaf Shield. Metal Sonic rams into one of the leaves by accident, sending him back and causing it to disappear, and Mega Man follows this by launching the three remaining leaves at him. Mega Man attempts to use a slide kick on Metal Sonic, who dodges and lands a punch that Rock blocks with his arms. He shoots out two pellets from his Mega Buster succeeded by a Top Spin, then punches him twice and shoots at him three more times before sending a punch that pushes him back.
As Metal Sonic begins to crackle with electricity, Mega Man tries to damage him with three more shots of his Mega Buster, but fails as Metal Sonic is unfazed and is surrounded by a grey aura. Metal Sonic flies into the air and releases a Plasma Pulse Attack from his chest that destroys the floor. As Mega Man falls, Rush comes to his aid and lands him safely on the ground before flying away.
Mega Man shoots at Metal Sonic once more, who shields himself with a grey force field. He then jumps into the air and performs a Spin Attack on Mega Man, who is able to endure it. He throws two Metal Blades at Metal Sonic, the first of which he dodges, and the second which he kicks back at his opponent. Metal Sonic tries to punch Mega Man, who jumps to avoid it and sends out two Hornet Chasers at the robotic hedgehog, both of which explode on contact with him. In a burst of speed, Metal Sonic briefly encircles Mega Man, then repeatedly launches him in the air with his Spin Dash before smacking him to the ground, creating a crater.
Dizzied, Mega Man quickly comes to his senses and manages to pummel Metal Sonic before he can react, even kicking him away when he tries to use his Spin Dash. Mega Man goes for another Charge Shot, but Metal Sonic, momentarily emitting a green circle of light, dashes through the air faster than Mega Man can follow. After speeding around his opponent multiple times, Metal Sonic leaps into the air and copies Mega Man's ability to throw Metal Blades, sending three of them at the Blue Bomber...
...but before they can reach him, Mega Man uses Time Stopper to freeze time before he jumps into the air and grabs one of the Metal Blades. Landing on Metal Sonic's body, he then uses the Metal Blade to cut a hole into the back of Metal Sonic's head and shoots a Crash Bomber into it before jumping away right before time resumes.
As the Time Stopper's effect wears off, Metal Sonic is smacked to the ground but quickly recovers, unaware of the ticking Crash Bomber on the back of his head. He then copies Mega Man's very own Mega Buster and shoots out three Charge Shots in rapid succession, all of which Mega Man easily dodges. Afterward, Metal Sonic goes for one last Spin Attack and starts speeding at the Blue Bomber, who now has his back facing toward the metal hedgehog. However, right before he can even touch Mega Man, the Crash Bomber on Metal Sonic's head finally explodes, leaving no trace of him and a charred spot on the ground. Victorious, Mega Man closes his eyes and teleports away....with all of them knocking him down. Metal Sonic then copies Mega Man's very own Mega Buster and shoots out three Charge Shots in rapid succession that all manage to hit him. Afterward, Metal Sonic goes for one last Spin Attack and starts speeding at the Blue Bomber, and with no time to dodge out of the way, Mega Man gets sliced clean in half by Metal Sonic Spin Dashing right through him.
True Ending ...but before they can reach him, Mega Man uses Time Stopper to freeze time before he jumps into the air and grabs one of the Metal Blades. Landing on Metal Sonic's body, he then uses the Metal Blade to cut a hole into the back of Metal Sonic's head and shoots a Crash Bomber into it before jumping away right before time resumes.

Trivia
Production
- The connections between Metal Sonic and Mega Man are that they are both blue video game robots created by genius scientists (Doctor Eggman and Doctor Light, respectively). Both have the ability to copy an opponent's abilities (Metal Sonic can use Copycat to scan a person, while Mega Man has a Weapon Copy System allowing him to gain a Robot Master's Special Weapon after defeating them, respectively) and have a rivalry with a character similar to them (Sonic the Hedgehog and Bass, respectively). In addition:
- Both have time-freezing abilities (Chaos Control and Time Stopper, respectively).
- This is also a battle of opposites, as Metal Sonic is an evil robot created by the evil scientist Doctor Eggman to defeat Sonic, whereas Mega Man is a robot designed by Doctor Light to protect the world from the evil scientist Doctor Wily. Additionally, Metal Sonic was created by the evil Doctor Eggman to surpass the blue hero Sonic, while Mega Man, a blue hero created by Doctor Light, faces Bass, a robot created by Doctor Wily to surpass him.
- Metal Sonic and Mega Man have previously crossed over in a few forms of media:
- Metal Sonic and Mega Man appear in the Super Smash Bros. series, in which the former appears as a sticker in Brawl, a trophy in 4, and a spirit in Ultimate, whereas the latter has been playable since 4.
- Metal Sonic and Mega Man have appeared together in the Worlds Collide and Worlds Unite crossover events in Archie Comic's Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man series.
Easter Eggs
- Ringmaster references the Chonk Chart / Oh Lawd He Comin' meme when he describes Metal Sonic and Mega Man's weights as being "Oh Lawd He's Comin' weight."
