- —Bruce Wayne to Batman
Bruce Thomas Wayne, formerly known as Batman, is a superhero from DC Comics. He appeared in the 86th episode of Death Battle, Batman Beyond VS Spider-Man 2099, where he and Batman Beyond fought against Spider-Man 2099 and Lyla from Marvel Comics.
History
The origin of this incarnation of Bruce Wayne began no different than his mainstream counterpart, as he witnessed his parents murdered right in front of him by a mugger on a cold winter night. His entire life changed that night, as he swore to stand against the crime and corruption that plagued his home of Gotham City, spending the rest of his life perfecting his body and eventually becoming the vigilante known as "Batman". However, as the years went by and Bruce grew older, his once honed body began to fail him, eventually resulting in him being forced to use a gun to defend himself against a criminal. Taking this as a sign, he hung up the mantle and had the company he had initially inherited from his parents taken over by shady businessman Derek Powers, choosing to spend the rest of his days alone and bitter in Wayne Manor. But one day, a young teenager named Terry McGinnis managed to stumble upon Bruce's secret and stole his Batsuit. While Bruce was justifiably angry at Terry, he felt sympathy due to their similar pasts and began to assist and train him to become the new Batman.
