I'm Popeye the Sailor Man!♫
- —Popeye
Popeye is the main protagonist of the Popeye series. He appeared in the 155th episode and Season 8 Finale of Death Battle, Saitama VS Popeye, where he fought against Saitama from the One-Punch Man series.
History
Born to the legendary (and unfairly-named) sailor Poopdeck Pappy, Popeye was abandoned as an infant simply because he was born incredibly ugly, leaving Popeye with nothing but his pipe to remember his father. Fortunately, he would eventually be adopted by another sailor named Whaler Joe. During his childhood, Popeye would start training to become strong to defend others from bullies who would hurt the weak or innocent, especially if he has a can of spinach on hand. Inspired by his adoptive father and various adventures he had in his youth, Popeye would join the Navy, where he would meet his future rival Bluto, whom he would go on to constantly fight over the love of the beautiful Olive Oyl. Together with his adopted son Swee'Pea, burger lover Wimpy, brother-in-law Castor, and all the rest of his friends and acquaintances, Popeye would travel around the world in search of adventure, or just live his regular life waiting for it to inevitably come to him.
