- —Red Hood to Batman
Jason Peter Todd, also known as the Red Hood (originally Robin), is an anti-hero from DC Comics. He appeared in the 133rd episode of Death Battle, Winter Soldier VS Red Hood, where he fought against Winter Soldier from Marvel Comics.
History
Jason Todd grew up on the meanest streets of Gotham in and around Crime Alley, his primary focus being survival. One evening, he attempted to steal the wheels off the Batmobile when he found it parked and unattended, but was caught in the act by Batman himself. Rather than punish him, however, Batman admired his daring nature and resourcefulness. Bruce then took Jason in and trained him as the new Robin since the previous Robin, Dick Grayson, resigned to become the independent vigilante Nightwing. Jason immediately took to the role, but his time as a sidekick was short-lived. Tragedy struck when Jason fell into a trap by the Joker, who beat him to a pulp and left him to die in an explosion.
Years later, Jason was brought back to life with the aid of Ra's al Ghul's Lazarus Pit. But his rage and betrayal over his murder, and the fact Joker never paid for his crimes, shattered his psyche. He reinvented himself as the "Red Hood", the identity in which the Joker had begun his criminal career. As the Red Hood, Jason became a vigilante who would do what Batman couldn’t, preventing criminals from walking the streets by any means necessary, even if it meant becoming a murderer himself. But despite it all, Jason could still not match up to Batman, and was left to reexamine his own personal code, ultimately deciding to be a better hero, albeit a very conflicted one.
