- —Rider
Medusa, also known as Rider, is a protagonist from the Fate series. To differentiate her from other Riders or other classes of Medusa, she is commonly referred to as Rider Medusa. She appeared in the 70th episode of DBX, Boa Hancock VS Rider Medusa, where she fought against Boa Hancock from the One Piece series.
History
The Earth Goddess Medusa was once worshiped for being the embodiment of mankind's ideal idol alongside her sisters Euryale and Stheno. But their continual attention stirred jealousy within the Goddess Athena, who cursed Medusa to be hated by the people who once worshiped her, forcing the three sisters into exile to a foreign land. For a time, the sisters lived peacefully in solitude, until invaders began relentlessly hunting for the demonic Gorgon Monster day-by-day, which caused Medusa to petrify them all in self defense, eventually leading to her corruption into a snake beast that devoured her sisters. Medusa's ever increasing bloodlust would finally be halted when she was slain by the Greek hero Perseus.
Centuries later, she would be summoned by the once illustrious Matou family of Magi during the Fifth Holy Grail War to become a Servant to their soft-spoken adoptive daughter, Sakura Matou. The two developed a very close bond as Sakura's pure-hearted kindness lowered Medusa's stone cold exterior, who eventually grew to be very protective for her Master. However, due to constant pressure and manipulation, Medusa would then be placed in the hands of Sakura's brother, Shinji Matou, whom she viewed as vile and cowardly. Though her contract prevents her from disobeying Shinji's commands, she keeps to being a protective guardian over Sakura, hoping she may someday return to her one true Master.
