- —Roy Mustang
Colonel Roy Mustang is one of the main protagonists of the Fullmetal Alchemist series. He appeared in the 92nd episode of DBX, Zuko VS Roy, where he fought against Zuko from the Avatar: The Last Airbender series.
History
At a young age, Roy discovered an affinity for alchemy and was taught in the craft by master alchemist Berthold Hawkeye, with the hopes of supporting the people of his nation of Amestris. He eventually enrolled in the State Military Academy with the intent of becoming a State Alchemist and devoting himself to the protection of citizens caught in the crossfire of international struggles. As an adult, Roy returned to Hawkeye, hoping to learn the secrets of his master work. Although Hawkeye initially refused, fearing the power of his alchemy, he would die of illness in Roy's arms that very day, using his dying words to grant Roy the permission to inherit his secret research notes from his daughter Riza.
At Hawkeye's funeral, after Roy revealed to Riza his dreams and noble intentions, she in turn revealed to him her father's research, which was encoded in a tattoo on her back. Deciphering the code, Roy mastered Hawkeye's powerful Flame Alchemy and went on to pass the State Alchemist certification exam, earning the symbolic moniker "Flame Alchemist" and the military officer rank of Major. With his qualifications, Roy fought in the Ishval Civil War, in which his destructive alchemy made him a war hero. However, ridden with guilt from the genocides he committed, Roy sought to atone for his sins, a path to redemption he would begin by uncovering a nation-wide conspiracy that would lead to him rebelling against the corrupt nation he once fought for.
