Sans is a protagonist from the Undertale series. He appeared in the 88th episode of DBX, Ness VS Sans, where he fought against Ness from the EarthBound series.

History

In a world where monsters are separated from humans and forced to live in the Underground, some make their home in the quiet, peaceful village of Snowdin, such as Sans and his brother Papyrus. On the surface, Sans appears to be nothing more than a lazy, pun-loving prankster, much to his brother's annoyance. However, he knows more than he lets on, being versed in quantum physics and keeping a watch on the timeline. Because of this, Sans decides to befriend Frisk, a human who fell into the Underground and has the ability to reset the timeline. Although he's usually a friendly face, if Frisk ever decides to forgo their pacifism and commit genocide on monsterkind instead, then... they're gonna have a bad time.

Sans can be seen alongside the Judge from the OFF series watching the chaotic weirdness of the fight unfold in the background behind Bill Cipher's drum kit after he emerges from the stack of desserts Discord covered him in.

Sans' head can be seen as an ornament hanging on the rear-view mirror of the truck Ghost Rider uses to attack Spawn when their fight enters Hell.

• Sans is the fifth Indie character to appear in DBX, after Bendy, Cuphead, Shantae, and Shovel Knight.
  • He is the third to win, after Bendy and Shovel Knight.
• As part of Death Battle's paid YouTube membership, members were able to vote in the Tournament of Champions for one matchup to become a guaranteed episode in Season 11. One of the options for Week 8 was Sans VS The Judge from the OFF series, which it won and moved on to Week 10, where it then lost to Kratos VS Asura.
