- —Sauron
Lord Sauron (born Mairon) is the main antagonist of the The Lord of the Rings series. He appeared in the 169th episode of Death Battle, Sauron VS Lich King, where he fought against The Lich King from the Warcraft series.
History
Mairon was born as one of the mightiest of the godlike Maiar and just as his creator, Eru Ilúvatar, had intended him to be: good and uncorrupted. His greatest virtue was his dislike for confusion and chaos, as well as his love for order, planning, and coordination. However, his obsession with order eventually overshadowed his compassion and judgment, soon becoming the sole object of his will, the end in itself. Mairon's path would then forever be changed when he fell under the wing of the Dark Lord known as Melkor. Under his teachings, Mairon gained a desire to rule all life in Middle-earth and irreversibly became an eternal enemy to his former kinfolk, the Valar. Recognizing his fall from grace, the races of Middle-earth gave him a new name. No longer was he the inspiring Mairon; now, he was the abhorrent "Sauron", a name he would come to embrace. While his master would unfortunately fall, Sauron would step up to finish what Melkor had started. And to do it, he created the One Ring, which would allow him to command and enslave all the races of Middle-earth. One Ring to rule them all.
