- —The Lich King
King Arthas Menethil, also known as the Lich King, is one of the main antagonists of the Warcraft series. He appeared in the 169th episode of Death Battle, Sauron VS Lich King, where he fought against Sauron from the The Lord of the Rings series.
History
Arthas Menethil was born the crown prince of the kingdom of Lordaeron, with a promising future ahead of him. He grew into a strong and confident young man with seemingly boundless compassion. But even Arthas reached his limits when both an orcish horde and a plague of undeath threatened all that existed. Arthas was left broken and desperately sought a way to save his homeland, so he sought out the powerful Runeblade, Frostmourne. However, through Frostmourne, the Lich King, Ner'zhul, was able to speak to him, and he corrupted Arthas into becoming his very first Death Knight. Eventually, Arthas freed Ner'zhul from his Frozen Throne, and after Arthas picked up and wore the Lich King's helm from the shattered ice, their souls fused together, though Arthas later consumed Ner'zhul's spirit. Taking all the power of the Lich King for himself, Arthas set to his new task of wiping out all life on the planet in the Scourge's name.
