History
Thor Odinson is a man quite different than the one described in Norse mythology. Conceived between the All-Father of Asgard, Odin, and Earth's Elder Goddess, Gaea, with the intention of bringing an end to the cycle of Ragnarok, Thor was raised to be the strongest in the universe. To further ingrain this status, Thor was granted his iconic hammer, Mjolnir, a tool that can either create or destroy and a test of his rite to the throne of Asgard. In order to teach him appreciation of humanity, Odin briefly stripped his son of his godhood and banished him to Earth in a human body under the name of Donald Blake. Thor would soon learn humility and grew to love Earth and its people, eventually helping found the superhero team known as the Avengers. He was, of course, welcomed back among the ranks of Asgard, becoming it and Earth's mightiest warrior.

Notes
- ↑ An earlier iteration of Thor, which predates Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's version, appeared in Venus Vol.1 #11 in 1950. However, that early incarnation contradicts Thor Odinson's later appearances and stories, including several chronologically set prior that have him look and act as his Silver Age self, and the appearances of Thor in Venus have never been retroactively established as being the same character as Thor Odinson.
