'''''Frieza VS Megatron (Dragon Ball VS Transformers)'''''

'''Connections:''' Arrogant alien warlords in a purple & silver attire that are capable of accomplishing things through deception or brute force. They're also constantly fighting a team of alien heroes that they hate (Saiyans and Autobots respectively) to determine the fate of the Earth, plus they were responsible for the destruction of an alien planet, but that ended up creating the thing they hate the most.

'''Why I want this matchup:''' Alright, I've gone a good while without being threatened by pitchforks, let's see if...*turns around to see people with pitchforks.* Okay, let me explain. I know plenty of people nowadays dislike this matchup due to the video that Nemesis Bloodryche made regarding it. Well, I will at least say that I haven't actually seen that video yet, nor do I have any plans on watching it (Especially since I've heard it was rather flawed anyway), so I guess you could call me ignorant, but screw it. I love this matchup and I'm gonna tell you why. To start, the banter potential is yet another contender for my favorite out of all these matchups. Their arrogant, egotistical, hammy-evil personalities mesh perfectly with each other, and it would without a doubt make for some awesome exchanges between the two. Second, the animation potential is honestly pretty great. Despite the fact that Megatron is much taller than Frieza, their arsenals still mesh pretty well and the destructive potential is pretty crazy as well. The music potential is also awesome, especially if Deceptive Tyrants taught us anything. So yeah, even though some people don't like this matchup, I'm not one of those people, because this matchup's absolutely badass.

'''Bets:''' Megatron. As someone who both somewhat buys the DB multipliers and thinks the IDW Transformers nerfs are complete BS, I will say that this is definitely a pretty close fight, but Megatron's hax absolutely tear Frieza a new one, especially since I hear he has anti-matter manipulation.

'''Thoughts on alternatives:''' None of Frieza's alternatives are even worth mentioning, but Megatron's definitely are. Vilgax is thematic, but it's also really lame and a waste for both, and Makuta Teri-zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
  +
  +
'''Likelihood:''' 9/10. The fact that it's losing some of its fans as of late keeps it from being a flat-out 10, but recent as it is, it's still an extremely iconic and incredibly popular matchup featuring two of the biggest villains in animation history, so I can definitely still see this happening.

Revision as of 01:00, 19 June 2021

"Woah, Splat, you're really gonna do this again?!" Yes. Yes, I am. I admittedly wasn't a huge fan of my previous second attempt at a most wanted DBs list, as while it had good structuring, I still could've done better, and I've definitely lost interest in a good amount of those matchups, not to mention I kinda rushed a good chunk of it sometimes. Oh, and we don't talk about the one I did back in October (It had Ridley VS Rayquaza, that should speak for itself). So yes, I truly felt the need to give one last shot at a full-scale most wanted Death Battles list. This time, I've decided to go for a bigger number, because 111 isn't nearly enough to give you all the matchups I have a taste for. But that doesn't mean I'm going quantity over quality. You're gonna see a pretty good amount of that too. I'll cover the connections, why I want the matchup, my roots and bets, the score name if I have one, my thoughts on alternatives, and how likely the matchup is to happen. I'd also like to say a few things before I continue to the list. First off, I could totally be wrong on some of these verdicts, so you're welcome to tell me if I am, just preferably in a constructive way instead of "A beats B, you dumbass!" Second, I'm starting to feel like I can't stress this enough for certain people, these are my opinions! If you don't like some of these matchups, I'm not gonna hold that against you, but don't hold that against me either, and I'd also prefer no harassment of any kind either (Especially you, Last of Us Man). Another important thing I should note is that I'm honestly expecting a few of these to happen before I get to their entries, so we'll see what I do about it when it comes around. And lastly, and this is the most important one of all, my opinions may change in the future, since they seem to have a bad habit of doing that (The fact that I've made three of these lists shows just how bipolar I am). But if I ever get the feeling that I might need one more remake or anything like that, please quote me on this. *Ahem.* This will be my last attempt at remaking a most wanted list of mine. I'm not calling this list "The Real Deal" for nothing. Pretty sure I've said everything I need to, so let's get to the good stuff!

Number 130

Ra's al Ghul VS Shredder TN

Ra's al Ghul VS Shredder (DC Comics VS Ninja Turtles)

Connections: Ancient leaders of ninja terrorist groups that used to get along with a certain hero and practice martial arts with them (Ra's al Ghul was Batman's teacher, at least in Batman Begins, and Shredder used to be Splinter's friendly rival), but now they seek to destroy them.

Why I want this matchup: Personally, I'd totally be down for Shredder returning. Silver Samurai wasn't a terrible matchup or episode by any means, but he definitely has better matchups, and that episode did have the major flaw of Shredder never even using his hand blades. Meanwhile, Ra's al Ghul is one of the cooler Batman villains, and I think he has plenty of potential for a Death Battle. And yeah, I think this matchup is perfect for both characters. The connections are solid, the animation potential is pretty nifty since I love hand-to-hand martial arts fights, and there could be some pretty cool banter between the two as well. Overall, it's just a pretty fun matchup.

Roots: Both, leaning towards Shredder

Bets: Ra's al Ghul. Super Shredder would provide a hell of a challenge for Ra's, but the master of the Lazarus Pits should take the stats and is MUCH more experienced than Shred-Head thanks to said Lazarus Pits. Also, he's held his own against Batman a lot more often than Shredder has (Pretty sure the one time Shredder fought Batman was non-canon, though it was a pretty kickass fight), so I'm sure that should be enough to sway this fight towards Ra's' favor.

Score name: "Shredded Ghouls"

Thoughts on alternatives: Ra's al Ghul VS Shang Tsung is...well, it's there, but it's kinda lame. As for Shredder, the only other matchup I've heard for him is Deathstroke, and not only is that matchup also kinda lame, but we'll get to Slade's matchup soon enough.

Likelihood: 7/10. I can't really say it's super popular, but it does have its fans and doesn't have that much competition, so I'd say this matchup has a decent chance of happening.

Number 129

Ashe VS Ashe TN Ver

Ashe VS Ashe (Overwatch VS Fire Emblem)

Connections: Silver-haired team players that grew up with rich fathers and prefer / excel in long-ranged combat. Oh yeah, and they're both named "Ashe."

Why I want this matchup: Honestly, ever since I thought of this matchup, like, a month ago, I just couldn't let it out of my head. It's such a weird and bizarre idea, but it also works really well and would be pretty fun to watch, so now I'm actively requesting this to happen just because. Oh, and you're gonna be hearing this a lot throughout the list, Fire Emblem is laughably overdue for Death Battle and we seriously need a rep from that series, no matter what it is. That and I'm always down for more Overwatch reps.

Roots: Literally the nicest character in Three Houses.

Bets: Ashe Duran. If he even slightly scales to characters like Byleth and Dimitri, then OW Ashe is toast.

Score name: "Fire & Ashe" (Courtesy of Iconboi for thinking of that one)

Thoughts on alternatives: ...What alternatives?

Likelihood: 1/10. Good luck finding anyone else besides me who's actually requesting this to happen.

Number 128

Tim VS Donnie TN Ver

Tim Drake VS Donatello (DC Comics VS Ninja Turtles)

Connections: Tactical gadget users that rely more on brain than brawn (Tim is considered one of the brainier Robins whereas Donatello is the tech turtle) and generally take the role of sidekicks, but they've certainly accomplished many notable things on their own (Donnie killed Shredder in an alternate timeline and Tim has briefly taken up the role of Gotham's defender while Batman and Nightwing were away). Oh, and, of course, their main weapon is generally a staff (Credit to Kinjorex for informing me of these connections).

Why I want this matchup: "Hold on, Splat, you literally just included a DC VS TMNT matchup on the list!" Yeah, you right. But I don't see how that's a problem, because I have full confidence that this matchup would be more than different enough from Ra's VS Shredder to make for its own fun and cool fight. But why is that so? Well, for one, all of the other three Turtles besides Leo seriously deserve to return. Leo's had enough time in the spotlight and his brothers all have their own fun and unique matchup (Minor spoilers, you'll see them on this list). As for this one, well, it's not too different. It's got good connections, it'd be a fun, fast-paced fight to watch, and it's a chance for one of the cooler Robins to make it onto Death Battle as well as being Donnie's best matchup. So yeah, I'd say this is a pretty neat matchup.

Roots: Donatello

Bets: Donatello. Tim may have been trained by Batman and is probably more versatile, but Donnie should out-stat enough to be able to take the Red Robin down.

Score name: "Staff Only"

Thoughts on alternatives: For Tim, I'd honestly be down for a Robin Battle Royale between him, Dick, Jason, Damian, and Carrie, but I don't generally care for battle royales unless the characters in question either don't have better matchups or have a high chance of returning. For Donnie, Blue Ranger Billy would pretty redundant since Leo VS Jason was probably as good as we're gonna get with TMNT VS Power Rangers matchups, and Pidge does make sense, but Tim sticks out more as an opponent for Donnie, in my opinion. Oh, and Donnie VS Tails is a big no-no.

Likelihood: 6/10. Similar to Ra's VS Shredder, it's not super popular, but it seems generally agreed on to be their best matchup and does have a decent-sized following, so if either of these characters are getting into Death Battle, there's a fair shot that it'll be against each other.

Number 127

Sephiroth VS Sigma TN

Sephiroth VS Sigma (Final Fantasy VS Mega Man)

Connections: After being created by a scientific mind to be based off someone (Sephiroth has Jenova's cells and Sigma was replicated from X), they became well-respected soldiers that everyone looked up to. Unfortunately, during a mission, something drove them mad, and they became iconic villains that proceeded to haunt the main hero throughout the course of their story, sometimes in different bodies.

Why I want this matchup: Now, Sephiroth VS Vergil and Ultron VS Sigma were both pretty good episodes and I can understand why some might not want these characters to return. However, I think this would be a really good returning episode for both considering how interesting this matchup is. The connections are really good, and there's some pretty sick animation potential given how crazy these two have gotten in the past, and it's got Sephiroth, so I'd say this is a pretty good matchup.

Roots: Sephiroth

Bets: Sephiroth. Give him Dissidia scaling and he squashes Sigma like a bug.

Score name: "Angelic Infection"

Thoughts on alternatives: I've seen a lot of fanmade trailers for Sephiroth VS Aizen, but I can only imagine that's because those guys wanted a quick matchup to celebrate Seph getting into Smash, plus there is the obvious Aizen matchup that we'll get to soon enough. As for Sigma, he doesn't have any other matchups that I can think of at the moment.

Likelihood: 3/10. It definitely has its fans, but given how satisfactory both characters' past episodes were to the general crowd, I don't really see this happening in the future.

Number 126

Falco VS Revali TN Ver

Falco VS Revali (Star Fox VS Zelda)

Connections: Arrogant, blue, anthropomorphic falcons that excel in long-ranged, aerial combat and work with a renowned team of heroes (With three teammates specifically) to fight evil. They also control a machine that fights from the skies.

Why I want this matchup: Honestly, I just want my man Falco on Death Battle. Most of his matchups would be plenty satisfactory for me, but this, well, this one's kinda perfect for him. The connections are pretty good (I hear these two be compared by the non-DB crowd all the time, and I can see why), there's some nifty animation potential (Especially if we throw in the Arwing and Divine Beast Vah Medoh), the banter would be f__king awesome given their near identical cocky personalities (No pun intended), it's a unique combination of franchises, and as said, there's Falco involved, so I'd say it's safe to say this matchup has a lot going for it.

Roots: Falco

Bets: Falco. Revali may be far superior in stats to Falco in a one-on-one, but the Arwing is surprisingly more powerful than Vah Medoh and is a hell of a lot faster, so I doubt there's much Revali can do against it.

Score name: "Champions of the Air"

Thoughts on alternatives: Falco VS Jet isn't terrible, but I just find Revali to be a much more interesting matchup, imo. As for Revali, only thing I can think of for him is a Champions Battle Royale, and as previously said, I'm not a huge fan of battle royales.

Likelihood: 5/10. Falco VS Jet does give some pretty good competition, but this is a fairly popular matchup too, so I'll give it a 50/50 chance for now.

Number 125

Ken VS Sub-Zero TN

Ken VS Sub-Zero (Street Fighter VS Mortal Kombat)

Connections: Former palette swaps of the most famous character from their respective fighting games that soon became their own unique character as their series went on, and nowadays they're both friendly rivals to the character they used to echo.

Why I want this matchup: Of the multitude of Street Fighter VS Mortal Kombat matchups out there, this is honestly the only one I actually want to see happen, though that's not saying they're the only ones I'd be down for (Jax VS Guile, Akuma VS Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung VS M. Bison, and Mileena VS Juri are some others I'd be cool with). Let's start with this one. Ken may have had a solid episode and matchup, but I wouldn't say it was the best he could've gotten, and I'd say he deserves a shot at returning since Ryu was able to as well. Sub-Zero, meanwhile, had a shitty matchup and a pretty bad fight to go with it, so I think I'd be down for him returning too. And if either one of these two should return, I'd say they should fight each other. It's thematic, the animation potential would be pretty fun (I'm sure it'd be quite different from Ryu VS Scorpion), the banter between these two different personalities would be cool (No pun intended), and I just think it's an all-around fun idea (Also, they could totally start the fight off as some sort of follow-up to Ryu VS Scorpion. I can see them doing that).

Roots: Grandmaster Blueberry Ice

Bets: Sub-Zero. Ken may be much stronger and tougher through scaling to Ryu, but Sub-Zero can easily keep up thanks to his greater speed, training, versatility and hax (Not sure if Ken has any defense against Subs freezing his body inside and out).

Score name: "Ready Player Two"

Thoughts on alternatives: The other Ken matchups I've heard of are Caesar (Jojo), Johnny Cage, and Kung Lao (MK), and while I don't exactly have a problem with them, I just prefer him to fight Sub-Zero (That and Cage easily had the best episode he could get). Speaking of, Subs VS Kula Diamond kinda sucks.

Likelihood: 6/10. Similar to Falco, Ken doesn't have any one most requested matchup, but Sub-Zero seems to be one of the more popular ones for him, so I'll be optimistic for this one and give it a 6.

Number 124

Simon VS Hayabusa TN Ver

Simon Belmont VS Ryu Hayabusa (Castlevania VS Ninja Gaiden)

Connections: Old-school heroes from the NES days who hail from a long line of monster hunters and were trained in their secret techniques and forms of magic, eventually gaining their most sacred weapon in order to vanquish evil (Thanks, Pit).

Why I want this matchup: Simply put, I've been wanting Simon Belmont in Death Battle for quite some time and personally think he's one of the most overdue characters for that show in general. I've gone back and forth between a lot of his matchups, but I think I've safely settled on this as his best one. The connections are good, it's a good chance for Ryu to return, it'd be pretty cool to see Ryu's fighting style clash with Simon's, and as someone who thinks Ryu's theme from Warriors Orochi and the Smash remix of Cross Your Heart are some of the greatest pieces of music I've ever listened to in video games, I think I can safely say that the music potential is through the roof. So yeah, there's definitely a lot to like about this matchup.

Roots: Simon Belmont

Bets: Simon. Considering he's fought universal to even multiversal foes (Time Reaper, specifically) whereas I don't think Ryu has, I think it's safe to assume that the 80s ninja gamer is about to die again.

Score name: "Falcon in the Mountains"

Thoughts on alternatives: Simon VS Link probably would've made this list if it weren't for the fact that Cloud was confirmed for season 8 and is basically guaranteed to fight the hero of Hyrule, so I figured this would be a good substitute matchup for Simon. As for his other matchups, Jonathan definitely has better, and Indiana Jones is a really weird idea. As for Hayabusa, I can't say I know of any other matchups for him.

Likelihood: 6/10. Similar to Ken from the previous entry (Okay, I'm sensing a theme here), Simon doesn't have a definitive most requested matchup, but this one's pretty popular and does have its fans, so I'd say it has a fair shot of happening.

Number 123

Isabelle VS Marie TN Ver. 2

Isabelle VS Marie (Animal Crossing VS Splatoon)

Connections: Lovable, anthropomorphic celebrity waifus that speak a gibberish language and have served as news broadcasters in at least one of their games, plus they've helped out the player out throughout the course of the game (Isabelle is your secretary in New Leaf and part of the Resident Services team in New Horizons while Marie was your guide in the hero campaign in Splatoon 2). Also, bonus tidbit: While this isn't really a connection, Isabelle's French name is "Marie."

Why I want this matchup: Once again, that's a good question. Why exactly do I want this matchup to be a thing? Well, probably just because it's a really stupid idea, but it also works really well in my eyes. You could say this is my guilty pleasure matchup for this list. Anyway, why does it work well? I mean, there's some good connections, and given how I was able to make this thing, the animation and banter potential aren't half bad either. Overall, this matchup seems weird at first (And yeah, it kinda is), but I'd say it has enough perks to work as a DB episode.

Roots: Both. Not even placing a preference, I'm just rooting for both.

Bets: Marie. Isabelle may be physically stronger and more versatile, but Marie's other stats blow hers out of the water due to agent scaling.

Score name: "Squid's a Belle"

Thoughts on alternatives: Why would these two even have any alternatives?

Likelihood: 0/10. Like they would ever put Animal Crossing in Death Battle.

Number 122

Claude VS Balthier TN Ver

Claude VS Balthier (Fire Emblem VS Final Fantasy)

Connections: To quote MMYP999: "Both are the flirty, charismatic leading men (albeit self-proclaimed in Balthier's case) of two ragtag groups who seek to fight off an invasion from two encroaching empires. Ever cunning and quick-witted, the two rogues prefer to deal with conflicts through trickery and constant snarking, while also making sure to keep friend and foe alike at arm's length, which is perfectly reflected in their affinity towards ranged weaponry. (Granted, both can wield nearly every weapon available in their games, but they're most often depicted with a bow and gun respectively.) As it would turn out, both rogues were actually high ranking figures who originated from lands far removed from the main settings of their stories (Claude was the crown prince of Almyra, while Balthier was both a Judge Magister and the son of the esteemed Dr. Cid), which they understandably kept a closely guarded secret from all but their closest allies. For that matter, Claude and Balthier aren't even their real names. Having fled their birthplaces out of discrimination for the former's half-blooded status and horror at insane experiments of the latter's father, the two runaways would eventually come to return to their homelands in an effort to make things right with their pasts."

Why I want this matchup: Because Claude. That's literally it, lol. Well, and because it's a thematic matchup with plenty of animation potential and some great banter, but mostly just because we finally have a good matchup for my man Claude.

Roots: Claude

Bets: Balthier. Final Fantasy stats are generally greater than Fire Emblem stats.

Score name: "Verdant Wings"

Thoughts on alternatives: I'm not a big fan of the Three Houses royalty BR between Claude, Dimitri, and Edelgard, mainly because all three of them have their own kickass matchup that you will be seeing on this list, including this one, of course. As for Balthier, he's a newer character for my knowledge, so I don't exactly have a dozen alternatives for him.

Likelihood: 4/10. Edelgard and Dimitri definitely take priority over Claude when it comes to getting into Death Battle, and this matchup isn't exactly too popular, but it at least has its fans, so we'll see how big it gets in the future.

Number 121

Harry VS Percy TN

Harry Potter VS Percy Jackson (J.K. Rowling VS Rick Riordan)

Connections: Teenage outcasts that were thrust into a world of fantasy because of a prophecy that said they'd accomplish something great, which they did.

Why I want this matchup: Luke VS Harry was...well...it exists. I want to say it was bad, but at the same time, I don't really blame the DB crew because the show was still relatively new. But still, that episode wasn't great, so I personally think Harry should return to Death Battle, and I don't think I'll be finding much opposition when I say that Percy is his best matchup. Sure, it's a stomp, but it's at least got good enough connections and animation / banter potential, and it'd be fairly creative enough for me to overlook the stompiness of this matchup.

Roots: Harry

Bets: Percy. Harry and his spells / sword of Gryffindor would put up a good fight, but Percy statstomps pretty badly, mainly thanks to his battles with the Titans and Jason, and while he might not be able to hurt Harry with Riptide since he is technically a normal human, he's been able to deal with that in the books plenty of times before and still has his water manipulation and greater stats, so that doesn't matter too much.

Score name: "Mythical Magic"

Thoughts on alternatives: The other matchups I've seen for Harry are Edward Elric and Akko, but both of those two have their own much better matchup (One you'll be seeing on the list), and Percy is a cooler matchup anyway. Speaking of, Percy VS Aqualad is kinda boring, imo, and Percy VS Lapis sounds interesting, but again, Harry sounds more fun to me.

Likelihood: 7/10. Both characters do have competition for if they get in (Or return in Harry's case), but this is definitely a pretty popular matchup, so I won't count it out of the picture.

Number 120

Spider-Man VS Ladybug

Spider-Man VS Ladybug (Marvel VS Miraculous)

Connections: Bug-themed teenage superheroes dressed in red that live in a famous city (New York and Paris respectively) and are always balancing their hero life with their high-school life.

Why I want this matchup: Hmmm, I think I might have to do some explaining for why I think this matchup is the best for both worlds, because I know that compared to Randy VS Ladybug, this matchup is considered to be "Meh" at best. But not to me! I think this is a pretty cool matchup for a variety of reasons. First off, I think Spider-Man deserves to return to Death Battle, because while his fight with Batman was pretty good, he definitely wasn't his best matchup (But I can understand why some people think he was considering they're both the faces of their respective comic book companies). And of course, I also think this would be the best matchup for Ladybug should she get in as well. The connections are pretty good, the fight would be really fun to watch since I can imagine it'd be fast-paced with a lot of movement, I can imagine both fighters would make plenty of good quips towards each other (Though that department is definitely carried by Spidey), and it's honestly just a really fun matchup in my eyes.

Roots: Spider-Man

Bets: Spider-Man. I've heard plenty of arguments for both, but I'm gonna go with my gut and say Spidey takes most stats, is WAY more experienced, and his Spider-Sense would be too much for Marinette, unless her luck powers are crazier than they seem.

Score name: "Amazingly Miraculous"

Thoughts on alternatives: For Ladybug, I honestly wouldn't mind it if she fought Randy Cunningham instead, but this matchup has always clicked more to me. As for Spider-Man, Joseph Joestar definitely sounds like a fun idea, but we'll get to Joseph's matchup soon enough. His other matchups, though, aren't so good. Sideways has little going for it besides Marvel VS DC, All-Might has connections, but he had his best matchup by far, Masane is better off against Ryuko, and Blue Beetle gives me an existential crisis.

Likelihood: 8/10. Randy provides some very heavy competition for Ladybug's best matchup, but considering the fact that this got a commissioned score from Brandon, not to mention people are infinitely more familiar with Spider-Man than Randy, I honestly think this has a better shot at happening.

Number 119

Jack VS Travis TN Ver

Jack Cayman VS Travis Touchdown (Madworld VS No More Heroes)

Connections: Motorcycle riding assassins attempting to climb the leaderboard in a bloody game with far more complications lying beneath the surface (Travis fighting through the UAA and Jack fighting through Deathwatch respectively). Both also originate from two of the most famous M rated games on the Nintendo Wii (both of which are famous for their cel-shaded artstyles and...hilarious amounts of blood, sexual references and profanity), with both games also making many references to other media (No More Heroes referencing various video games and Madworld referencing various movies).

Why I want this matchup: "Wait, Splat, if you're unfamiliar with these characters, then why do you want this matchup so badly?" Well, you're right that I don't know much about either Jack or Travis, but what I do know, I like, especially when it comes to this matchup. So, there's two main reasons why I like this matchup as much as I do, one being the animation style of the fight. Imagine Travis being the only thing in color as he takes on Jack in the world of Madworld. I think that sounds pretty cool and unique. The second reason is the banter. Given their similar personalities, there's just some great banter waiting to happen, which could be made even better if we bring in Kreese and Buckshot to give some awesome and hilarious commentary on the fight. So yeah, this sounds like a pretty fun matchup to me, even if it is a stomp.

Roots: Travis Touchdown

Bets: Travis. From what I hear, he out-stats Jack pretty badly and has plenty of hax that Jack can't keep up with.

Score name: "No More Madness"

Thoughts on alternatives: Travis VS Scott Pilgrim is lame af to say the least, and Jack VS Rick Taylor / Luther Strode are pretty boring too.

Likelihood: 9/10. Scott provides a bit of competition for Travis, but aside from that, this is a hella popular matchup that's been requested for a while and is generally agreed on to be the best matchup for both, so I'd say it has a pretty good chance of happening.

Number 118

Nemesis VS Pyramid Head TN

Nemesis VS Pyramid Head (Resident Evil VS Silent Hill)

Connections: Iconic and incredibly ugly monsters from acclaimed survival-horror games whose main function and goal in life is to chase the main character down and kill them.

Why I want this matchup: Honestly, despite my lack of knowledge on these two, this matchup just sounds like a good time. Who wouldn't want to see two big and creepy-looking monsters try to beat each other to death (And shoot and slash too, I guess)? Well, not me, because this matchup is pretty sick. Sure, the fight would probably be kinda slow, but that's not really a problem since that'd be accurate to their movement in-game anyway, and even if that did hold the animation potential back a bit, the connections are good enough that I don't really mind that, plus it's not like these two have any better alternatives.

Roots: Nemesis?

Bets: Not sure, to be honest. I've heard Nemesis outstats Pyramid Head, but that wouldn't matter if Pyramid Head's "can only be killed by James facing his guilt" thing is taken seriously, because if it is, then Nemesis wouldn't be able to kill Pyramid Head (Unless he had something he was guilty about, which I highly doubt), likely giving 3D Triangle Face the victory. But if that's not applied, then Nemesis should win.

Score name: "Silent Nemesis"

Thoughts on alternatives: Nemesis VS Big Daddy sucks, let's move on.

Likelihood: 10/10. A heavily requested and incredibly popular matchup with no good alternatives. Yeah, this one seems all set to me.

Number 117

Vision VS Red Tornado TN

Vision VS Red Tornado (Marvel VS DC)

Connections: Android superheroes that were created by an evil genius (Ultron and T.O. Morrow respectively) for the purpose of killing the hero team of their respective worlds, but they eventually decided against it and joined the forces of good. They also look kinda similar.

Why I want this matchup: Dang, we're just now getting to the Marvel VS DC matchups here? Don't worry, there's plenty more on this list. While I can agree that there has been a bit of an oversaturation of Marvel VS DC on Death Battle recently, I cannot stress enough that there are still some really cool matchups out there that have yet to be done, including this one. I've been wanting Vision on Death Battle for quite some time, and I think this would be the best fit for him. Their connections are good, there's some neat animation potential, especially considering their different movesets, and we'd get a fairly underrated DC character to join the DB party, which is always cool in my book.

Roots: Vision

Bets: Red Tornado. Low and behold, he does indeed have some herald scaling to him. Apparently he's fought and taken hits from characters like Despero and Superman, so I'd say that's enough to beat Vision, even with his phasing powers.

Score name: "Red Vision" or "Vision of a Tornado"

Thoughts on alternatives: Vision VS Martian Manhunter really isn't that interesting to me, especially since J'onn has a much better Marvel opponent in Silver Surfer. Vision VS Zero used to be my preferred Vision MU, but come to think of it, that matchup would be kinda boring and would be better suited for a DBX. As for Red Tornado, the only opponent I can think of for him is Storm, but she also has a better DC matchup that'll be on this list eventually.

Likelihood: 8/10. It's a popular Marvel VS DC matchup with little competition, so I'd say it has a good shot.

Number 116

Zoro VS Sanageyama TN

Roronoa Zoro VS Uzu Sanageyama (One Piece VS Kill la Kill)

Connections: Green-clad young men with less than optimal eyesight but specially trained senses wielding multiple unusual swords in service of a leader from a special bloodline who seeks to give them freedom. They both have strong Hinduist themes in their character and attacks.

Why I want this matchup: Long story short, I watched Kill la Kill and loved it, I came across this matchup a bit after, and it slowly but surely became my preferred matchup for both to the point where it's now one of my most wanted. Aside from that, I've got nothing super special to say. The connections are pretty tight, the animation potential is awesome given Zoro's three-sword style and Asura mode clashing with Sanageyama's Blade Regalia forms (Though I'm sure he'd also be willing to start the fight without them just to build up to the cool stuff), the music potential's pretty great given how well they've handled these series in their scores, and the banter potential is amazing. So yeah, nothing crazy from me, I just really like this matchup.

Roots: Sanageyama

Bets: Zoro. Since Uzu doesn't scale to Ryuko at her full power, Zoro should have the stats necessary to take him down.

Score name: "Regalia Style"

Thoughts on alternatives: I used to prefer Zoro VS Wolverine, and while I still think that's a really cool matchup that I'd be in no way opposed to seeing in DB...eh, I don't think Logan really needs to return while Sanageyama doesn't really have anyone better himself, so I'd say he'd be a better fit for Zoro than Wolfy. Oh, and Zoro VS Killer Bee is pretty boring.

Likelihood: 4/10. Recency's a pain in the ass.

Number 115

Kilowog VS Toppo TN

Kilowog VS Toppo (DC Comics VS Dragon Ball)

Connections: Really buff aliens who chose to join an elite space force and became successors to the previous members, they both clashed with an evil space tyrant that hurt them personally in their past, and they've both mastered and embraced a certain power that requires a lot of training, plus they serve as leaders of their aforementioned space force.

Why I want this matchup: Because Kilowog...I dunno what else to say, I just love this because we finally have a good Kilowog matchup. The connections are good, the animation potential kicks ass considering how broken both Lanterns and DBS characters are, the banter would be absolutely top-notch (I want to know how Toppo would react to Kilowog calling him a Poozer), and if Ikari and Emerald Heroes have taught us anything, then the music potential is just glorious. But in the end, my liking for this matchup boils down to three things: Kilowog, a good matchup for Kilowog, and more Lantern matchups in general.

Roots: Take a wild guess.

Bets: Kilowog. Not sure if Toppo would be able to do anything to a guy that survived a multiversal retcon and has a near infinite amount of hax at his disposal.

Score name: "Divine Will"

Thoughts on alternatives: If you think there are any good alternatives for these two, then you're a poozer.

Likelihood: 6/10. It gained popularity very recently, but it is definitely significant and there's no competition, so I'd say it has a shot.

Number 114

Dark Pit VS Bass TN

Dark Pit VS Bass (Kid Icarus VS Mega Man)

Connections: Dark-colored creations meant to mirror a certain hero and were originally enemies with them, but they later grew to be more of anti-heroes and have even teamed up with the hero to take on a bigger threat.

Why I want this matchup: JC basically took the words right out of my mouth: "Connections are pretty straightforward, but lord do both their arsenals and banter potential do wonders for the animation." Yeah, the connections are nothing special, but I gotta agree that the other merits this matchup has more than makes up for it. Seeing these two's large, varied, and contrasting arsenals clash would be quite a sight to see, the banter potential is spicy AF given how well their personalities clash with each other, and considering that there's Kid Icarus and Mega Man involved, I can imagine the music potential is pretty on point too. So yeah, nothing special here to say, this matchup's just really cool.

Roots: Both, leaning Pittoo

Bets: Dark Pit. Bass may have a pretty heavy advantage in AP, but Pittoo is way faster and has better hax to boot, and the fact that his death manipulation works on robots definitely wouldn't hurt Pittoo's odds.

Score name: "Darkness Boosted"

Thoughts on alternatives: Lilith and Dark Meta Knight are both very solid matchups for Dark Pit, but this matchup just feels more unique and fun, at least in my opinion. Roxas, Dark Samus, and Morrigan, however...yeah, not so much. As for Bass, Shadow doesn't need to make a fourth appearance, as cool as that matchup sounds, and Dark Samus (Oh hey, you again) just reeks of WTF energy.

Likelihood: 6/10. I mean, it's fairly popular on its own, but Lilith and Roxas existing definitely hurt its odds by a bit, though Bass doesn't really have any popular competition now that Shadow's kicked the bucket, so that's something.

Number 113

Ghetsis VS Rhea TN Ver

Ghetsis VS Rhea (Pokemon VS Fire Emblem)

Connections: Green-haired, incredibly terrible parents and charismatic military leaders that fight while commanding others (Ghetsis uses Pokemon while Rhea just has a run-of-the-mill military), and both have some kind of power relating to ice dragons (Ghetsis searching for and I think capturing Kyurem and Rhea being the Immaculate One).

Why I want this matchup: Don't worry, you'll see more FE characters on this list than just Three Houses exclusives. Anyway, of all the Pokemon Trainer VS Person That Fights By Themselves matchups, this is definitely the one I want the most. I just think it's a pretty cool idea, especially since I'm not only down for Fire Emblem getting into DB, but I also like more Pokemon reps as well. The connections are good, the animation potential, while not flawless, is still pretty fun, the music potential is absolutely glorious, and the banter would be pretty great too. Overall, I think this matchup could work if done right.

Roots: Rhea

Bets: Ghetsis. Rhea may have been able to take out friggin' Nemesis in her prime, but I'm pretty sure Ghetsis' Hydreigon and Kyurem (If we give that to him) are strong enough to take her out.

Score name: "Boundary Immaculate"

Thoughts on alternatives: Rhea VS Yggdrasill isn't half-bad, but I'm WAY more familiar with Ghetsis and this just sounds more interesting to me. And don't ask me why Ghetsis VS Endeavor is a thing.

Likelihood: 6/10. It's a very recent idea, but it has its fans and their other matchups are either pretty obscure or they suck, so we'll see how it fairs in the future.

Number 112

Vergil VS Sesshomaru TN Ver

Vergil VS Sesshomaru (Devil May Cry VS Inuyasha)

Connections: Edgy, white-haired older brothers to red-clad demon hunters that used to be evil, but then joined the side of good after getting their ass kicked by their little bro.

Why I want this matchup: So, funny story for why I want this, really. You know how I like making character matchup tier lists, right? Whenever I make one with an "edgy rival" or "brother" type character, I always seem to put Vergil in the second to last tier. So then I kinda felt bad for the man and made one for Sesshomaru despite my complete lack of Inuyasha knowledge. And then just like that, I slowly grew to like this matchup more, and now it's one of my most wanted. Other than that, it has the rest of the "Most Wanted Matchup" starter pack. Good connections, cool animation potential, fun banter, not too many alternatives, all that stuff.

Roots: The storm that is approaching

Bets: Vergil. Even without universal DMC, he statstomps Sesshomaru to the ground and his sword gives him better hax.

Score name: "Moonlit Storm"

Thoughts on alternatives: Aight, both of these two have plenty to talk about, so let's get to it. For Vergil, I like Satsuki, but I have my preferred matchup for her, Zeldris is eh, Hiei is nothing special, plus he had his best matchup, and Riku doesn't interest me that much at all. As for Sesshomaru, Itachi is good, but I.S Madoka is right there for him, so I'll pass, Zeldris is once again just average, Byakuya is...fine, I guess, and Satsuki is not very good.

Likelihood: 7/10. While Vergil isn't guaranteed to return after how good Sephiroth VS Vergil was, he is definitely at least one of Sesshomaru's most requested matchups and vice versa, so I think this has a good chance of happening.

Number 111

Juggernaut VS Azrael TN

Juggernaut VS Azrael (Marvel VS BlazBlue)

Connections: Villains that can break the laws of physics by punching, plus they're obsessed with the thrill of a good fight.

Why I want this matchup: Pit kinda summed up my thoughts the best: "Does this matchup have the best connections out there? No. Is this matchup one of the fucking craziest ideas in terms of sheer animation potential alone? You bet your ass it is!" Yeah, this would definitely be an absolutely insane and epic fight to watch, definitely more than enough to make up for the poor connections. Also, Juggernaut really needs to be on Death Battle, and this is probably his closest and most unique opponent. Also also, more BlazBlue on Death Battle is pretty cool.

Roots: Juggernaut

Bets: Juggernaut. Apparently, immeasurable BlazBlue was bunked, and because of that, Juggernaut should definitely take the stats over Azrael, helped by the fact that Azrael would have a pretty damn hard time killing him.

Score name: "Mad Juggernauts"

Thoughts on alternatives: Broly and Doomsday would just be carbon copies of Hulk's episodes, both of which were damn-near perfect on their own, and Juggernaut VS Fleetway Sonic isn't all that interesting to me, despite the better connections. As for Azrael, I guess Akuma would be an interesting watch, but Azrael could just poke the guy and he'd explode like a nuke (I really like using that analogy, it seems), which is something that doesn't happen here.

*Editor's note: I forgot to mention this before, but Juggernaut VS Archie Knuckles is a good alternative to this.

Likelihood: 4/10. While Juggernaut is in high demand, DB's past experiences with BlazBlue and the fact that Juggs has more mainstream matchups than Azrael hurt this matchup's chances significantly.

Number 110

Yusuke VS Reimu TN

Yusuke Urameshi VS Reimu Hakurei (Yu Yu Hakusho VS Touhou Project)

Connections: Lazy, headstrong heroes tasked with keeping balance between the human world and the spirit world. They also focus mainly on spiritual projectiles as their main method of attack.

Why I want this matchup: Come to think of it, I probably should've put Yusuke somewhere in my Overdue Characters blog. He's definitely a famous anime protagonist that hasn't really been touched by Death Battle yet, and he does have a good amount of matchups we could do for him should he get in. And in my own opinion, I think Reimu is his best opponent, and vice versa. Sure, it's one-sided to say the least, but it's still plenty thematic and would be a fun enough fight that I don't really mind that, plus it's not like either character has better matchups.

Roots: Yusuke

Bets: Reimu. There's matchups where one character absolutely obliterates the other in terms of stats and hax, and then there's Yusuke VS Reimu.

Score name: "Spirits of the Shrine"

Thoughts on alternatives: The rest of Yusuke's matchup spread (Ichigo, Danny Phantom, Gon, Luigi, etc) isn't isn't very interesting to me, and Reimu's alternatives just flat-out suck (Madoka and Mario, need I say more?).

Likelihood: 7/10. Yusuke does have a lot of competition, but for the most part, Reimu seems to be his most popular opponent, plus she doesn't have any popular alternatives, so we'll see how it goes for these two in the future.

Number 109

McCree VS Erron TN Ver

Jesse McCree VS Erron Black (Overwatch VS Mortal Kombat)

Connections: Video game gunslingers with mixed morals.

Why I want this matchup: WE! NEED! AN! OLD! WEST! THEMED! DEATH! BATTLE!!! *Ahem.* Excuse me. Anyway, there seems to be a pretty good handful of Mortal Kombat VS Overwatch matchups out there (Namely Kano VS Doomfist, Noob Saibot VS Reaper, and Kenshi VS Genji), and while they're all solid in their own right, this one's easily my favorite just because of how overdue we are for a Wild West matchup on Death Battle. We've had our cyber-dudes, we've had plenty of edgelords, we have telekinetic swordsmen, now please just give us some friggin' cowboys! Like, the banter and music potential this matchup provides alone is just too damn good to pass up, and it definitely also has some solid animation potential too, at least enough to make up for the simple connections. So yeah, safe to say I like this matchup.

Roots: Erron Black

Bets: Erron Black. Don't really know what to say here, so I'll just say stets (Don't worry, it won't be a common occurrence).

Score name: "High Noon Hullabaloo"

Thoughts on alternatives: Here's a "Wanted" poster for acceptable alternatives for these two. Good luck finding any.

Likelihood: 9/10. It's definitely gaining a lot of traction and is a pretty popular matchup with little to no alternatives, so it's basically all set for DB.

Number 108

Knuckles VS Proto Man TN Ver

Knuckles VS Proto Man (Sonic VS Mega Man)

Connections: Red former villains in kahoots with a mad scientist that wanted to conquer the world, but after getting whooped a few times by a blue-clad hero, they became friendly rivals to said hero (And a full-time good guy in Knuckles' case).

Why I want this matchup: Now, before I continue, I can understand why some people would not want Knuckles to return to Death Battle. After all, Donkey Kong was an incredibly thematic matchup with a pretty good fight behind it too (Even though DK's sprite could've looked better). However, I still want this matchup for a few reasons. One, Proto Man deserves to be on Death Battle, and he doesn't have that many good alternatives. Two, I have a soft spot for Sonic VS Mega Man matchups. Three...well, I guess the third reason is about the same as all the other matchups: This has good connections, decent animation / banter potential, pretty good music potential (We haven't had an original track for Sonic VS Mega Man yet, which I oh-so desire), that kind of stuff.

Roots: Muscle flexing > Chuckling

Bets: Knuckles. Proto Man likely out-stats base Knuckles, but Super / Hyper Knuckles should be more than enough to turn the fight in his favor, especially if you believe in universal Super forms (I'm personally a bit iffy on that, but I still think Knuckles should win this regardless).

Score name: "Prototype: Punching"

Thoughts on alternatives: Knuckles VS Tifa is kinda "Eh" to me, especially since Tifa has a clearly superior matchup that you'll be seeing on this list. As for Proto Man, E-123 Omega is definitely thematic, but I think this offers better animation potential, which is what I value more in a Death Battle.

Likelihood: 5/10. On one hand, Knuckles doesn't seem all that requested to return, but on the other, Proto Man is in pretty high demand for Death Battle compared to other Mega Man characters (Besides the ones that have already gotten in, of course), and Knuckles is one of his more popular matchups, so I'll give this matchup a 50/50 chance of happening.

Number 107

Ness VS Frisk TN

Ness VS Frisk (Earthbound VS Undertale)

Connections: Kids from acclaimed RPGs with ridiculous power that travel through outlandish worlds and fight a reality-warping god by the end of their game. There's also an "original VS inspiration" theme here.

Why I want this matchup: Well, for one, Ness getting on Death Battle is poggers, and this is probably the only truly good matchup for him. Some Undertale reps are also appreciated, at least by me. And I guess that's all I have to say here besides "It's a pretty fun matchup."

Roots: Ness

Bets: Ness. Long story short, he out-stats Frisk and Truth of the Universe is much more potent than DETERMINATION (TotU will revive Ness even when he doesn't actually want to, while DETERMINATION will stop functioning once Frisk doesn't feel like fighting anymore).

Score name: "Bound With DETERMINATION"

Thoughts on alternatives: Frisk VS The Batter is an okay idea, but if we're gonna get an Undertale VS OFF matchup, it should be Sans VS Pablo. As for Ness' alternatives, well, Silver has better, Raz is too stompy, Blossom sucks, and Shulk is kinda dumb, plus he has better.

Likelihood: 8/10. As far as I know, this is the most requested matchup for both characters.

Number 106

Note: This spot was originally taken by Shadow VS Vincent Valentine, buuuuuut I'll give you one good guess to why it's not here anymore.

Ragna VS Velvet TN

Ragna VS Velvet Crowe (BlazBlue VS Tales of Berseria)

Connections: Bitter, edgy blade-wielders dressed in red and black that have a bounty on them and use a demonic power in combat. They also got their house burned down as kids, lost their sick sister to a deranged person, and lost an arm and got it replaced with something that gave them their demon powers.

Why I want this matchup: Now, before I continue on with the entry, I should probably mention that I know absolutely nothing about Velvet or Tales of Berseria. I do know, however, that Ragna is cool, his analysis in Ragna VS Sol was a pile of balls, and him returning would be pretty cool. And should the Bloodedge return to Death Batlle, I think Velvet is his best matchup. The connections, while not as good as a certain other Ragna matchup that I'll get to later, are still pretty good, the animation potential isn't half bad, and the banter would be pretty badass considering their similar sour personalities. Overall, I think this is a pretty cool matchup.

Roots: Ragna

Bets: Ragna. Stets.

Score name: "Velvet Blood"

Thoughts on alternatives: Ragna VS Dante is honestly a pretty close second to this matchup, but Dante doesn't need to return after how damn good his last episode was, plus this is just a more unique idea, so I'm sure you can imagine why I'm siding with this. And Joker VS Velvet is...I mean, it's there, but that's the most I can say for it.

Likelihood: 1/10. It has its fans, but a combination of Ragna not being very likely to come back and Velvet being a fairly obscure character really hurts this matchup.

Number 105

Better Madara VS Aizen TN

I think I finally made a TN for this matchup that I'm proud of.

Madara VS Aizen (Naruto VS Bleach)

Connections: Iconic Shonen villains that were once trusted allies of their now sworn enemies until they were revealed to be plotting against them behind their back, and now they're one of the biggest threats in their series, as well as being known for their dangerous illusions and manipulative skills.

Why I want this matchup: Legit, why wouldn't you like this matchup? It basically has everything a good matchup should have. Good connections? Check, especially if we throw in the Naruto VS Bleach thing. F__king hype animation potential? Also check. Amazing music and banter potential? Well, it's a villain fight, so double check. And while we're on that subject, it's a villain fight, which I'm always in love with, so this is basically guaranteed to be a great episode should it happen.

Roots: Madara

Bets: Madara. I've heard it's a close fight, but Madara should out-stat and have better hax than Aizen more often than not.

Score name: "Immortal Gaze"

Thoughts on alternatives: Imagine these two having any acceptable alternatives whatsoever. I mean, Sephiroth VS Aizen is actually fine, but who in their right mind is gonna choose that over this legacy matchup?

Likelihood: 10/10. This is probably one of the most requested matchups in DB history, and I'm sure the crew knows that too. There's no way this isn't happening in the future.

Number 104

Lizard VS Man-Bat TN

Lizard VS Man-Bat (Marvel VS DC Comics)

Connections: Scientists that wanted to cure themselves through the DNA of other animals, but their experiment backfired, and they turned into savage, ruthless animal monsters. Though they have also become more anti-heroic as time went on.

Why I want this matchup: "...it honestly feels as if it exists solely to cuck Lizard VS Killer Croc..." Well...you've got a point, Greek, but I still think this is my favorite matchup for both characters, mainly just because it seems like such a cool and unique idea to me...I guess that's all I have to say besides the fact that these two have some pretty good connections and the animation, music, and banter potential aren't half-bad, so let's move on.

Roots: The Lizard

Bets: The Lizard. The fact that it's a Bat VS Spider matchup should speak for itself, but I'll also say that Lizard, on top of having better stats than Man-Bat, is smarter and has a healing factor, so there's not much Man-Bat can do here.

Score name: "Scientific Savages"

Thoughts on alternatives: I'd be lying if I said Lizard VS Killer Croc and Man-Bat VS Morbius were bad matchups, but this has always been more interesting to me.

Likelihood: 5/10. On one hand, this definitely has a pretty hefty following considering how recent a matchup it is, but there's also the possibility of Killer Croc and Morbius being the opponents for these two instead, so I'll leave it at 50/50 for now.

Number 103

Blaze VS Starfire TN Ver

Blaze VS Starfire (Sonic VS DC Comics)

Connections: Two princesses of alternate worlds (Sol Dimension and Tamaran) that came to the heroes world via a incident occurring on there home world. Both of them were able to find a group of heroes to become friends with (Team Sonic and Teen Titans) and were able to form a close relationships with a blue-themed hero (Sonic and Nightwing) and contended with villains who threatened their roles as guardians (Eggman Nega and Blackfire) both are associated with fire and were to befriend a female character who has a close relationship with their mother (Cream and Raven).

Why I want this matchup: So, I've seen that this matchup is a very controversial one, but if I'm gonna be totally real, I don't really think it deserves all the crap it gets, even if there might be a few minor flaws with it. But anyway, on to tell you why I think this matchup is cool, or if you'd prefer, "this matchup is hot." I just think it's a pretty fun idea (Am I starting to repeat myself?) and I'd say it could really work as a Death Battle. The connections, while not the best, are still there, and the animation potential is also pretty damn good if I must say, not to mention the banter would be friggin' hilarious, mainly because I'm expecting a section where Blaze gets frustrated at Starfire calling her a "kitty." Overall, I like this matchup.

Roots: DC's best girl

Bets: Starfire. I hear scaling her to other heralds is a bit iffy, but I can personally get behind that, and for that reason, she should be able to take Blaze out. But if herald Starfire isn't legit, then Blaze should win instead.

Score name: "Blazing Star"

Thoughts on alternatives: Aside from Caulifla and maybe Sailor Mars, the majority of Blaze's matchup spread (Azula, Incineroar, Rosalina, and Daisy) is, well...yikes, to say the least. As for Starfire, she has Captain Marvel and Firestar, and both of those might as well just put me in a coma. Starfire VS Sailor Mars could work, though.

Likelihood: 7/10. Fairly requested, a lack of good alternatives, and Blaze being in high demand for Death Battle, I'd say this has a decent shot.

Number 102

Iroh VS Oogway TN

Iroh VS Oogway (Avatar VS Kung Fu Panda)

Connections: Wise and kind old mentors to key figures in their respective series that are extremely skilled in martial arts despite their age, and they both ascended to their world's Spirit Realm after they passed.

Why I want this matchup: So, before I continue, I can completely understand why some of you wouldn't like this matchup. After all, it is an L for one of the best characters in cartoon history, which I would completely understand why that alone would turn some people off from the matchup. But honestly, this matchup is awesome enough for me to overlook the extremely cursed Iroh L. The connections are solid, the animation potential is really good since it'd be really cool to see these characters' arsenals clash, the music would no doubt be amazing, and the banter potential is soooooooooooo goooooooood! We could have this be a battle of respect for their skills like Yoda VS Mickey or Might^2, not to mention the amount of wise proverbs these two could throw at each other would make the fight worth watching even if the rest of it was somewhat underwhelming. So overall, while the fact that it's an L for my favorite fictional character hurts my soul, it has more than enough perks to make up for it, not to mention an Oogway W is extremely blessed to compensate.

Roots: Iroh

Bets: Oogway. No matter what you scale him to, he should have greater stats than Iroh.

Score name: "Cup of Chi"

Thoughts on alternatives: Iroh VS Bo Rai Cho is certainly a decent matchup, but I think I'd rather have Iroh fight someone with a similar personality to his own rather than...y'know, someone like Bo Rai Cho. Oh, and Iroh VS Asgore is fine as well, just not my cup of tea.

Likelihood: 3/10. Bo Rai Cho existing is a rather large obstacle for this matchup to overcome at the moment, combined with the fact that it's very recent, so it's got a long way to go.

Number 101

Roxas VS Axl TN

Roxas VS Axl (Kingdom Hearts VS Mega Man)

Connections: Inhuman humanoids who were once integral parts of antagonistic organizations before leaving due to the organization's actions, despite their comrades' attempts to stop them. They later found a happier life with new friends but would later face tragedy that would cost them their lives, but they got better eventually. Plus a few other tidbits: their former teams were manipulated by a bald-headed puppetmaster that just can't seem to die, a red team member showed them the rope and would eventually become their partner, and their fighting styles are similar to the series' protagonist.

Why I want this matchup: Welcome to episode 1 of "Pit Convincing Me This Is Both Characters' Best Matchup." My liking for this matchup kinda originated the same way Pit's did: I wasn't a huge fan of either characters' other popular matchups, but then I was introduced to this and I was immediately hooked. And not gonna lie, why wouldn't I? The connections are really solid, seeing Roxas' magic clash with Axl's tech would be pretty sick, the music potential is absolutely there (If you've listened to the soundtracks from Kingdom Hearts and Mega Man X before, you know what I mean), and it's a really unique combination of franchises. So yeah, this matchup is pretty damn good if you ask me.

Roots: "Whooooooooah oh oh, sweet child o' miiiiiiine!"

Bets: Roxas. Scaling to Sora > Scaling to X (Roxas does scale to Sora, right?)

Score name: "Gunman's Oath"

Thoughts on alternatives: As I stated, the alternatives these two have are less than interesting to me. Roxas has Shadow and Dark Pit, but Shadow...well, even I don't think he should make a fourth appearance, and Dark Pit would basically be dollar store Sora VS Pit (Sorry Greek). As for Axl, he has Silver, but coming from someone who likes Sonic VS Mega Man matchups, let's just say this one isn't on my bucket list (Sorry, Throw).

Likelihood: 4/10. It's gaining a decent-sized following, but Dark Pit and Silver still exist for these two and are definitely more popular at the moment, so as of right now, this matchup's chances of happening aren't too great.

Number 100

Skeletor VS Mumm-Ra TN

Skeletor VS Mumm-Ra (He-Man VS Thundercats)

Connections: Undead cartoon villains known for their use of dark magic and their cunning and backstabbing, they both seek to conquer everything, they both used to be regular people before being given their powers by a greater source of evil, and they both seek limitless sources of power that their archnemeses protect (Castle Grayskull and the Eye of Thundera respectively). Oh yeah, and they’re both prime examples of cheesy 80s villains and apparently He-Man VS Thundercats is a rivalry (Give these guys credit for the connections).

Why I want this matchup: Simply put, it would just be such a entertaining fight to watch. Not only do both characters possess some impressive magic that would make for good animation potential, but also because it could possibly be one of the cheesiest episodes out there, mainly because of the amazing banter these two could throw at each other. Like, come on. It's two 80s cartoon villains trying to kill each other, I don't see any reason not to have some hilarious banter. And no, this wouldn't just be He-Man VS Lion-O 2.0. The way these two fight is completely different from the heroes, so it's still a fresh idea while also bringing us a damn fun episode.

Roots: The one who's into that shit.

Bets: Skeletor. He should be able to take Mumm-Ra out with or without feats from the comics.

Score name: "Lichery Mastered"

Thoughts on alternatives: Skeletor VS Lord Zedd is a complete and utter waste for Skeletor, TBH.

Likelihood: 9/10. Skeletor VS Zedd has kinda simmered down nowadays, and this is still a ridiculously popular and heavily requested matchup with plenty of history behind it, and not to mention the DB crew wants to do different Power Rangers characters besides Mighty Morphin' for a while, so I don't see any reason why they wouldn't do this.

Number 99

Min-Min VS Cinderace TN Ver

Min-Min VS Cinderace (ARMS VS Pokemon)

Connections: New kids on Nintendo’s recent roster of Switch games that quickly became popular fan favorites among their community and specialize in martial arts of some sort. Both also have elemental themed attacks and are somewhat Chinese-based considering Min Min has Chinese heritage and every fire starter, including Cinderace, is loosely based off the Chinese Zodiac Circle. And of course, they both compete in combat for sport.

Why I want this matchup: Honestly, this matchup just sounds like so much fun to me. It has plenty of potential to be a pretty unique and interesting fight, plus it brings two rather underrated Nintendo characters into the spotlight, which is pretty cool (Especially since 1) ARMS on Death Battle just sounds fun, and 2) Cinderace is my favorite Pokemon). So yeah, I guess it's just a neat idea to me.

Roots: Cinderace

Bets: Cinderace. Combine Min Min being nearly featless (Except for a building-level feat through scaling) and the fact that Cinderace can scale to Pokemon that can bust mountains or islands, and you've got yourself...well, not a Min Min win-win, that's for sure.

Score name: "Fire ARMS"

Thoughts on alternatives: I still like Min Min VS Chun-Li and think it would be a fun fight to watch, but nowadays, I just think Cinderace is more unique, plus he offers better animation potential. As for Min Min's other alternatives, Hsien-Ko and Jam, well, I could care less about them. As for Cinderace, he has Amber from Genshin Impact, which...I guess is fine, but Min-Min just sounds more fun to me.

Likelihood: 2/10. Chun-Li and being recent as f__k say hi.

Number 98

Terumi VS Sinestro TN

Yuki Terumi VS Thaal Sinestro (BlazBlue VS DC Comics)

Connections: Yellow-clad criminals that used to be well-respected heroes before they betrayed their comrades for their own gain and formed their own evil squad. They also get stronger through people's fear (And hatred in Terumi’s case).

Why I want this matchup: Oh hey, another "I ditched a matchup for an even cooler one" type of matchup. Yeah, I used to consider myself one of the last few people that actually wanted Sinestro VS Pennywise, but then this matchup came along, and I kinda fell in love with it. The connections are a lot better (Pennywise was decently thematic, but not compared to this), the animation potential isn't half bad, we finally get to see BlazBlue return to Death Battle, plus it's one of their more obscure characters, so that's a double thumbs-up from me. All in all, pretty damn good matchup.

Roots: Sinestro

Bets: Sinestro. Him literally conquering the concept of fear should be able to get past Terumi's death hax, plus he has a pretty massive stat advantage over Terumi, which definitely helps.

Score name: "Blazing Fear"

Thoughts on alternatives: On paper, Sinestro VS Pennywise makes sense, but it kinda falls on its face in execution due to Pennywise not really being DB worthy, so I think I'll stick with this. Oh, and Terumi VS Misogi is okay.

Likelihood: 4/10. It's gaining a following, but Pennywise is still the more popular matchup for Sinestro, and people are WAY more familiar with him than with BlazBlue, so I wouldn't exactly say this matchup's chances of happening are particularly high.

Number 97

Akame VS Killua TN Ver

Akame VS Killua (Akame Ga Kill VS Hunter x Hunter)

Connections: Assassins that were taken away from their families at a young age and used as tools for killing even though they didn’t want to, they both ran away from their “caretakers” to start a new life with new companions, they both have a state of mind that rid them of their emotions, and they both have a friend who sacrificed their humanity in order to defeat a great evil. Funny enough, I learned these connections from a Least Wanted blog.

Why I want this matchup: For quite a while, I've always considered this to be the prime example of an "I'd be down for this" type of matchup. Like, I have next to no knowledge on either of these characters, but I've still always considered this to be a pretty cool idea, and now I guess it's one of my most wanted. The connections are good, this could be a pretty fast-paced, flashy fight, which is always cool, and it's a pretty unique matchup in my eyes. So yeah, this seems like a pretty solid matchup if you ask me.

Roots: Akame

Bets: Akame. She screws Killua over big-time even in her base form. Her Trump Card / Bury Mode / whatever it's called is kinda overkill.

Score name: "Killer Hunters"

Thoughts on alternatives: If Death Battle matchups were science fair projects, Akame VS Ryuko and Killua VS Black Star would be the average baking soda volcano. Key word being "average."

Likelihood: 8/10. There's some competition for these two, but as far as I know, this is the most popular and requested matchup for both characters, plus Hunter x Hunter is kinda overdue for a Death Battle arrival, so I'd say this has a pretty good shot of happening.

Number 96

Ant-Man VS Atom TN but better

Ant-Man VS Atom (Marvel VS DC Comics)

Connections: If it's Hank Pym VS Ray Palmer, then they're both brilliant scientists that designed a suit that allowed them to change their size, usually to go small. They also helped found superhero teams and had worthy young proteges that took up their name in the future (Scott Lang and Ryan Choi respectively).

Why I want this matchup: This is one of the last few big-time requested Marvel VS DC matchups for a damn good reason. Like, it would just be such a fun and creative fight, if done right. There could be lots of fun imagery when they're fighting while they're small, especially if it escalates either into the Quantum Realm or just into a bustling city, and we could also get a scene where they fight each other as giants, because why not? Overall, there's a small chance that you'd be bored with this matchup.

Roots: Ant-Man

Bets: Ant-Man. Growing to the size of a universe go brrrrr. Oh, and Hank just out-stats Ray in general, but that feat helps out a lot.

Score name: "Atomic Antics"

Thoughts on alternatives: Literally not even Hank, the Scientist Supreme, could think of any acceptable alternatives for these two, which I'm totally alright with.

Likelihood: 10/10. Like they wouldn't do this matchup. Seriously, it's a super popular Marvel VS DC matchup with no competition, what's stopping this from happening in the future?

Number 95

Morgana VS Dex Starr TN

Morgana VS Dex-Starr (Persona VS DC Comics)

Connections: Cats who were taken by their masters by malevolent forces, now awakened to a new power and motivated by a certain emotion (Morgana is hopeful while Dex is super pissed off), and now they work for a new master to fight that same malevolent force. They also wield a powerful weapon born from their strongest emotion.

Why I want this matchup: Y'know, I probably shouldn't like this matchup as much as I do. I haven't played Persona 5 yet and what I've seen of Morgana is a lot of horniness and "I'm not a cat" (Though he does have some pretty cute dance moves), and Dex-Starr also isn't a character I'm too knowledgeable on, even though he's DC. But you know what? I don't care. This matchup is still really cool, despite my lack of knowledge on these two. And I guess I don't have much else to say besides "It's got good connections, animation potential, music, and it introduces an underrated DC character to DB," so let's move on.

Roots: Morgana

Bets: Dex-Starr. Morgana being an embodiment of hope (A Red Lantern's weakness) and scaling to the Phantom Thieves means this definitely isn't a stomp, but I still think Dex should take this via Lantern scaling.

Score name: "Feline Frenzy"

Thoughts on alternatives: I could care less for Morgana VS Daroach, if I'm gonna be real here.

Likelihood: 3/10. Daroach be like:

Number 94

Natsu VS Luffy TN

Natsu Dragneel VS Monkey D. Luffy (Fairy Tail VS One Piece)

Connections: Iconic Shonen protagonists that have a big appetite, wear a vest with no shirt underneath, and are always willing to fight for their friends, one of those friends for each of them being an expert swordsman and another being some sort of mythical animal that likes to talk. They also act dumb, but they're actually very smart and strategic. Oh, and let's not forget the Fairy Tail VS One Piece rivalry.

Why I want this matchup: I dunno if I'm in the minority here, but I think Natsu could use a return to Death Battle. While his fight with Ace was okay, he definitely wasn't his best matchup, and it was fairly obvious that Natsu was gonna win anyway. On the other end of the spectrum, while Luffy isn't necessarily overdue for Death Battle since his series is far from over and the team wants to play the waiting game, he could definitely use a good matchup at the moment, and since nobody seems to agree on what it should be, I'll just throw my stick in the fire and say Natsu's his best one. It's a thematic enough matchup, the animation potential is pretty good, it's still a fresh idea since Luffy fights differently from Ace, the music would be cool considering how good DB scores with Shonen characters have been in the past (*coughs violently* Full Course Will), and, well, I guess it's just a pretty fun idea.

Roots: Natsu

Bets: Luffy. I've heard it's a close fight, but Luffy's Gear forms and immunity to physical damage should help him get the W here.

Score name: "Devil's Dragon"

Thoughts on alternatives: Natsu VS Tsuna exists, and that's the most I can say for it. As for Luffy's alternatives, they're an incredibly mixed bag, possibly the most out of any big matchup spread. You've got some decent ones, like Toriko, Plastic Man, and Kamala, but then you've got some real stinkers like Mr. Fantastic, Popeye, and Deku, the latter of which makes me want to drink vegetable oil by itself.

Likelihood: 5/10. It's probably one of Luffy's more liked alternatives, but he has a lot of competition and Natsu doesn't seem too likely to return, so I'll give it a 50/50 chance.

Number 93

Zygarde VS Chaos TN

Zygarde VS Chaos (Pokemon VS Sonic)

Connections: Used to be peaceful aliens before being corrupted and turned into much weaker versions of themselves, and throughout the game, they eventually evolved back into incredibly powerful beings through the collection of multiple objects. They’re also the guardians of something (Zygarde protecting the ecosystem and Chaos defending the Chao), and it’s also got an “Order VS Chaos” theme.

Why I want this matchup: Kinda funny that both Dan and I added this to our list on the same day. But anyway, onto the matchup. Zygarde is one of the coolest Pokemon of all time, and pitting him against one of the coolest Sonic villains in a thematic matchup just feels so right to me. Not only are the connections good, but the animation potential is quite exciting when you consider Complete Zygarde taking on Perfect Chaos in a destructive spectacle for the ages. Sure, there's no banter potential, but since it's an awesome monster fight, I'll let that slide. In short, this is just a really kickass idea in my eyes.

Roots: Zygarde

Bets: Zygarde. Just give him Ultra Necrozma scaling and you have yourself a very dead Chaos.

Score name: "Guarding Chaos"

Thoughts on alternatives: Chaos VS Kyogre is definitely a badass idea in its own right and I'd totally be down for it happening, but I just feel like Zygarde is a more unique Pokemon MU for Chaos. As for Zygarde's alternatives, let's just say that Cell has a better matchup that you'll be seeing here soon enough.

Likelihood: 5/10. On one hand, this is Zygarde's most popular matchup, but on the other hand, Chaos VS Kyogre is catching up in popularity, and that's definitely helped by Brandon's score for it, sooooo...50/50 for you!

Number 92

Azula VS Cinder TN

Azula VS Cinder Fall (Avatar VS RWBY)

Connections: Pyrokinetic asshole princesses that were driven to madness by a higher power, were responsible for the downfall of a certain area of importance (Ba Sing Se and Beacon respectively), and usually have two cronies by their side when they go to cause mayhem.

Why I want this matchup: Here we have another "How could you not like this" type of matchup. Like, just about everything about this matchup is just a load of fun. The connections are good, the animation potential is cool, not only with all the fire being thrown around, but that fire would get even bigger and crazier as both characters go nuts trying to kill each other, the banter would be amazing, and best of all, there's the potential to have some really good voice acting. Like, I'm sure Jessica Nigri voicing Cinder should be expected, but I can say without any doubt that Grey Delisle-Griffin would be hella down for voicing Azula here, and that would just be awesome since nobody can Azula like she can. Overall, this matchup is some good quality stuff.

Roots: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzN2V63ul34

Bets: Cinder. Azula may be faster and smarter, but Cinder takes everything else by a fair margin.

Score name: "Fire Fall"

Thoughts on alternatives: Most of the alternatives these two have kinda suck. For Azula, Dabi is hella redundant despite having good connections, Shego confuses me, and Blaze makes me want to swallow a ghost pepper whole. As for Cinder, Zuko had his best matchup, Chrollo has better, The Meta is just bad, and Ash Crimson...isn't terrible, but it's not Azula, so I have no business with it.

Likelihood: 9/10. Despite the competition, this is by far the most requested matchup for both characters, plus it was a Community Death Battle once, so I can definitely see this matchup happening in the future.

Number 91

Loki VS Kefka TN

Loki VS Kefka (Marvel VS Final Fantasy)

Connections: Cosmic-level trickster gods whose personalities lie on the edge of playfulness and insanity.

Why I want this matchup: Because Loki. Any matchup with Loki involved is bound to be a fun one, but this one is definitely the prime example of a good Loki fight, mainly because Kefka is almost as crazy as Loki is, so this matchup can't not be interesting. Now, while the connections and animation potential for this matchup are pretty good, my favorite part about it is definitely the banter. I mean, it's two crazy and sassy gods trying to kill each other, you'd have to actively try in order to make the banter not loads of fun. So yeah, this is definitely the best matchup for both.

Roots: Loki

Bets: Loki. If he even slightly scales to characters like Thor and Silver Surfer, whom he's fought and kept up with, then Kefka's done for.

Score name: "Gods of Mischief"

Thoughts on alternatives: Ocean Master and KIU Hades are decent matchups for Loki, but this one just sounds so much more fun to me nowadays. As for Kefka's alternatives, Marx is...okay, but it's not Loki, so I couldn't care less.

Likelihood: 7/10. Both characters have fairly popular competition, but this is arguably the most requested matchup for both, so we'll see how it goes.

Number 90

Constantine VS Raidou TN

John Constantine VS Raidou Kuzunoha (DC Comics VS Shin Megami Tensei)

Connections: Human detectives and demonologists that, aside from possessing a lot of incredible magic, are capable of outwitting even the mightiest deities.

Why I want this matchup: Now, while my knowledge on Shin Megami Tensei may be extremely far and few, a combination of being a good matchup for Constantine and the fact that it would just make for a pretty damn awesome episode definitely caught my interest in this idea...I guess that's all I have to say, but this is a pretty kickass matchup.

Roots: John Constantine

Bets: Constantine. Apparently he can scale above the likes of Doctor Fate and Darkseid, so I think it'd be safe to assume he wins.

Score name: "Occult Classic"

Thoughts on alternatives: Hellboy VS Constantine isn't all that interesting to me, tbh (Sorry, Greek).

Likelihood: 7/10. Despite SMT's relative obscurity, this matchup has a pretty large following behind it, so I'd say it has a good shot of happening.

Number 89

Master Hand VS Polygon Man TN

Master Hand VS Polygon Man (Super Smash Bros VS PlayStation All-Stars)

Connections: The final bosses of iconic crossover fighting games responsible for the creation of their respective worlds.

Why I want this matchup: "Hold on, Splat, this is just a giant hand fighting a giant head! There's no way this could work!" That, fellow crazy audience member, is where you are wrong. This matchup has potential to be an incredibly fun fight to watch considering both characters' wide and crazy arsenals, plus Polygon Man reacting to the fact that Master Hand being his equal in combat does sound pretty great. Also, if the One Minute Melee was anything to go by, it's that this fight most certainly can work, especially as a Death Battle.

Roots: Master Hand

Bets: Master Hand. It's a pretty close fight and I wouldn't be too surprised if Polygon Man won, but Master Hand has the power and hax he needs to take him down.

Score name: "All-Star Smashing"

Thoughts on alternatives: The only other alternative I've seen is Master Hand VS Yami from Okami, which is a decent idea, buuuuuuuut this matchup is definitely better.

Likelihood: 9/10. It's a super popular matchup with little to no competition (The one matchup that provides any is pretty small), so I don't see this not happening.

Number 88

Odin VS Arceus TN Ver

Odin VS Arceus (Marvel VS Pokemon)

Connections: Watchful deities that rule over an alternate world besides the Earth of their respective series and have birthed other gods and banished someone close to them in the past. They're also apathetic AF.

Why I want this matchup: Y'know, if Death Battle requests were YouTube videos (I know that's a weird analogy, but bare with me), then this matchup would be that really funny and well-animated video about Wario showing the viewer his hallway while his stomach aches that doesn't get enough recognition. In other words, this matchup is hella underrated, and I want to try and fix that. While the connections aren't the greatest, everything else it brings to the table is definitely enough to make up for it. The animation would be extremely epic, the music would be amazing (If Gods of Destruction and Kings of Infinity have taught us anything, it's that god fights always have good music), the banter would be pretty neat if we allow Arceus to talk, and while we're on that topic, Arceus in Death Battle is awesome.

Roots: Arceus

Bets: Odin. This matchup's surprisingly close AF, but something's telling me the Odinforce can score Odin a win here.

Score name: "The Allfathers"

Thoughts on alternatives: Odin VS Hades, while it would be a cool fight, has never really interested me too much, and DC Zeus is kinda generic, imo. As for Arceus' alternatives, Primus is kinda neat, Amaterasu confuses and concerns me, and Beerus does not need to return for any rime or reason.

Likelihood: 5/10. Neither character seems to have a definitive most requested matchup, and while this does have competition, it does have its fans, sooooo I'll take "Matchups With a 50/50 Chance" for $1600, Alex.

Number 87

Rex VS 76 TN

Captain Rex VS Soldier 76 (Star Wars VS Overwatch)

Connections: Important soldiers and members of a peace-keeping military alliance that were forced into early retirement after the government disbanded their armies, but they later rejoined the fight despite their old age and became somewhat vigalantic.

Why I want this matchup: To put it simply, it's just a really friggin' good matchup. The connections are great, the fight would be fun to watch, we get more Star Wars in Death Battle, which is never not appreciated, and more Overwatch is also pretty cool too since the series is relatively underrepresented in DB for how many cool characters the game has to show off. So yeah, this matchup is good stuff.

Roots: Captain Rex

Bets: Rex. Stets.

Score name: "CT-76"

Thoughts on alternatives: Rex VS Agent Washington and 76 VS Mr. Incredible are both decent options, but this matchup has always clicked more to me, personally.

Likelihood: 9/10. The fact that it's a fairly recent idea holds it back a little, but this matchup has become very popular very quickly, plus there's not much competition, so I think we can safely say this could happen.

Number 86

Infinite VS Skull Kid TN

Infinite VS Skull Kid (Sonic VS Legend of Zelda)

Connections: Inhuman beings that are expert at casting illusions and warping reality, as well as wearing a scary and iconic mask that they use to hide their dark pasts. They also attempted to drop something from space on the main hero to kill them (The sun and the moon respectively).

Why I want this matchup: Here's another matchup that I believe to be fairly underrated among the DB community. Like, I just think this matchup is really friggin' cool. The connections are good enough, but everything else that this has to offer is amazing. The animation potential is kinda through the roof considering their crazy illusionary powers, the score would be great (I mean, it's a combination of Sonic and Zelda, let alone these guys, how could it not be good?), and the banter would be pretty sick too. I mean, Infinite's forced edginess clashing with Skull Kid's playful insanity does sound like fun to me. Also, Zelda reps that aren't just the Triforce trio are extremely appreciated.

Roots: Skull Kid

Bets: Skull Kid. Infinite may be faster, but Skull Kid's power and reality warping is much more potent than his, plus Infinite's sun feat isn't legit since it was just an illusion, IIRC.

Score name: "Masked Fate"

Thoughts on alternatives: I've seen quite a few alternatives for these characters, so I'll just do a lightning round for them. For Infinite, Rei Ryghts is...average, I guess (Not her chest size, though), and Necrozma I feel has better. As for Skull Kid, I never understood Marx, The Mask is alright, but he has better, and Nightmare...actually sounds kinda cool, not gonna lie.

Likelihood: 5/10. There's definitely no one single most requested matchup for either character here, but I've seen this requested a decent amount, so yeah, this 50/50 chance is not an illusion.

Number 85

Scarecrow VS Freddy TN Ver

Scarecrow VS Freddy Krueger (DC Comics VS Nightmare on Elm Street)

Connections: Villains who use fear to psychologically disturb their victims before killing them, as well as both being portrayed by Robert Englund at one point.

Why I want this matchup: Remember how I said Infinite VS Skull Kid could work because of the really cool and potentially creepy imagery it could provide (I know I didn't say that here, but bear with me)? Well, this matchup also works because of that, but to a much greater extent. Both of these characters have such crazy ways to use their fear powers that it would be really cool to see them clash. Oh, and more movie characters getting into DB is pretty cool too.

Roots: Scarecrow

Bets: Freddy. He outstats, Scarecrow can't really kill him, and the Dream World screws Crane over ever harder once they get there.

Score name: "Kakoneirophobia"

Thoughts on alternatives: Mysterio VS Scarecrow, while I can see the appeal to it, is just an average Marvel VS DC matchup to me, if I'm gonna be honest. As for Freddy's alternatives, if you made me choose between having Freddy VS Pennywise happen and doing the greatest, most death-defying act the world has ever seen on America’s Got Talent only to get completely upstaged by a deaf 8-year old playing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” on a xylophone, I would choose the latter (Believe me, that's not an unrealistic scenario). Freddy VS Carnage is pretty cool, though.

Likelihood: 6/10. It's a fairly requested and decently popular matchup, but Mysterio and Pennywise still provide good competition for these two, so that does kinda hurt this one's chances a little.

Number 84

Rex VS Blue Beetle TN

Generator Rex VS Blue Beetle (Cartoon Network VS DC Comics)

Connections: Teenage superheroes that possess an alien device that allows them to morph their limbs into all sorts of awesome robotic weapons.

Why I want this matchup: I don't care that I have little to no knowledge on these two characters, I still think this is a really sick idea. There's a lot of creative potential this fight can bring to the ring with all the stuff these two can do, and I'd be down for every single bit of it. Also, I'm just gonna say it, DC W's are extremely epic.

Roots: Blue Beetle

Bets: Blue Beetle. After holding his own against heralds like Lobo and Guy Gardner, I'm sure he can handle someone like Rex.

Score name: "Buggy Generator"

Thoughts on alternatives: Rex VS Max Steel is pretty boring to me, tbh. As for Blue Beetle's alternatives, Geo is actually a pretty cool idea, but I think he has better, and Blue Beetle VS Spider-Man is ju...*Dies of confusion.*

Likelihood: 8/10. Rex is in pretty high demand for Death Battle and this is definitely his most requested matchup, so I'd say this has a good shot.

Number 83

Mewtwo VS BWG TN

I really hate that this BWG render is so blurry, because it was the only one I could find that matched well with Mewtwo's render.

Mewtwo VS BlackWarGreymon (Pokemon VS Digimon)

Connections: Grey-skinned monsters that were created by evil scientists to be based off another being (Mew and WarGreymon respectively) and designed to be some of the most powerful of their kind, and nowadays they walk the anti-hero line.

Why I want this matchup: Generally, I'm not a huge fan of Poke VS Digi matchups. Most of them have really poor connections and are pretty heavy stomps, plus both characters usually have better matchups anyway. This, however, is easily my one exception to this rule. This matchup has pretty good connections, great animation potential, glorious music and interaction potential (Maybe something similar to "He's just...like me?"), and Mewtwo returning is pretty awesome too. While you could make an argument that Mewtwo shouldn't return in a similar way to why people didn't want Shadow to return because they were each others' best matchup...I dunno, I just think Mewtwo coming back would be cool.

Roots: Mewtwo

Bets: Mewtwo. From what I hear, they're somewhat even in AP with Mewtwo taking an edge, but the genetic Pokemon also blitzes BlackWarGreymon like nobody's business and can mind-f__k him for days. Yes, there are plenty of universal Digimon, but BWG died before any of that stuff happened, so no scaling for him.

Score name: "Monstrous Creations"

Thoughts on alternatives: I used to be the only one here that wanted Mewtwo VS Magneto, but nowadays, this definitely sounds like the more appealing matchup, plus Magneto has Tetsuo / Accelerator. As for Mewtwo's other alternatives, I could take or leave Cell, Sephiroth has better (See #127), a Mewtwo VS Shadow remaster would be cool, but I think we've seen enough Shadow on Death Battle, and Frieza VS Mewtwo doesn't exist, it can't hurt you. Oh, and BWG VS Bass.EXE is okay, I guess.

Likelihood: 8/10. It's arguably the most requested matchup for both characters, and if we're getting a Pokemon VS Digimon matchup in Season 8, it's probably gonna be this.

Number 82

Drakkon VS Enerjak TN

Lord Drakkon VS Enerjak (Power Rangers VS Archie Sonic)

Connections: Powerful villains from alternate worlds where an iconic hero goes rogue and becomes a mad conqueror, they both get their ridiculous power from a mystical entity (The Morphing Grid and Chaos Force respectively), they both resemble the hero, just with a much darker attire, and they're both based on "What If" stories of the hero becoming evil.

Why I want this matchup: To put it one way, this matchup is just cool as f__k. While the connections may not be as good as some of Drakkon's competition, they're still good enough to make it thematic, and as you could probably guess, everything else the matchup brings to the table is more than enough to compensate. The animation potential is absolutely amazing given all the ridiculous hax these characters have and considering how brokenly powerful they both are, the music potential is phenomenal, the banter would be awesome, and it's a Power Rangers character beating an Archie Sonic character, which I think is hilarious. And while we're on that subject, it's also a unique franchise combo and a non-Mighty Morphin' character from Power Rangers, which is neat.

Roots: "They could've been gods."

Bets: Lord Drakkon. His final form just kinda dabs on Enerjak and runs away with the W.

Score name: "Lords of Chaos"

Thoughts on alternatives: For Enerjak, Savanti is pretty cool and a unique idea, but I just prefer this out of higher interest, and Onslaught and Dimentio both kinda put me to sleep. As for Drakkon, Batman Who Laughs and Ohma Zi-O are both very solid matchups, but I just personally think this sounds more fun and it's a more unique idea. And then there's Drakkon VS Goku Black, which I couldn't tell you why that's a thing.

Likelihood: 5/10. BWL and Ohma be like:

Number 81

Note: This matchup is now an official episode. Hell yeah.

Steven VS Star TN

Steven Universe VS Star Butterfly (Cartoon Network VS Disney)

Connections: Magical kids that took a while to get used to their cool magic powers, as well as being a part of a magic alien government of some sorts.

Why I want this matchup: Because why not? We could use some more cartoon matchups, and this is definitely one of the better ones. The connections are good enough, the animation potential is cool considering their vast arsenals of magic abilities, and the banter would be fun too considering their similar personalities (Even though it would admittedly be unnatural for these two to start a fight with each other). Overall, it's just a pretty good matchup.

Roots: Steven

Bets: Star. Considering how her wand was used to destroy a universe once, I don't see Star having any trouble taking Steven out.

Score name: "Universal Stars"

Thoughts on alternatives: Steven VS Finn and Star VS Sailor Moon can go f__k a duck, let's move on.

Likelihood: Yes.

Number 80

Ice King VS Lord Hater TN

Ice King VS Lord Hater (Adventure Time VS Wander Over Yonder)

Connections: Hot-headed and whiny but genius cartoon antagonists that were once normal by their standards, but then they found something that gave them certain elemental abilities, and it drove them mad with power. They also both seek affection from a princess and have occasionally teamed up with the childish good guy to stop a greater evil than them.

Why I want this matchup: So, this is a combination of two things we could use more on Death Battle. First off, villain fights. As some of you may know, villain fights are my jam, because they're usually guaranteed to have great animation potential and either hilarious or epic banter, as well as awesome music, and this matchup has all of those (Especially the banter). The second thing is cartoon VS cartoon fights. We don't have nearly enough of those on Death Battle, imo, and this is easily one of the better ones out there. I mean, it's just a really damn fun matchup, and seeing these two's arsenals and personalities clash would definitely be something to remember, especially if we get a collision between Ice King's ice and Hater's "scary green lightning." So yeah, good stuff.

Roots: Lord Hater

Bets: Lord Hater. When Ice King is able to plug a black hole with his fingers and move between planets in good time, you can come talk to me.

Score name: "Cold Hatred"

Thoughts on alternatives: Honestly, I'd totally be fine if we got Hater VS Bowser instead of this. I just find this to be a more unique and entertaining matchup, though that could just be me. And as previously stated, Ice King VS Mr. Freeze is not good.

Likelihood: 5/10. I feel like this is Ice King's most requested matchup, but Bowser offers some pretty good competition for Hater's most requested (Even though Bowser has another popular, and superior, imo, matchup that you'll be seeing later), so let's just stick with a 50/50 for now.

Number 79

Chrom VS Noctis TN

Chrom VS Noctis (Fire Emblem VS Final Fantasy)

Connections: Video game princes that would prefer to live among the commoners, but once a great threat looms over their homes, they form a rag-tag squad consisting of their friends / family and set out to save the day. They're also expert swordsmen from legendary RPG series.

Why I want this matchup: Because Chrom. I personally think he's one of the more deserving Fire Emblem characters for Death Battle (Even though you could argue that he doesn't have as much priority as others), and at the same time, Noctis is pretty overdue for Death Battle himself (Not even mentioning the fact that we could use a Final Fantasy rep that's not VII in general), and this is definitely my preferred matchup for him. The connections are solid enough, the animation potential kicks ass, as does the dialogue, the music could probably be some of the best and most amazingly orchestrated in DB history (I mean, it's a combination of Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy music, how could it not be great?), and, of course, Fire Emblem in Death Battle is extremely hype. Not much to dislike about this matchup if you ask me.

Roots: Chrom

Bets: Noctis. Stets.

Score name: "Awakening Fantasy"

Thoughts on alternatives: I won't argue that Shirou Emiya is probably the objective best opponent for Noctis, but...I dunno, I've just always found Chrom more appealing to me. As for their other alternatives, Chrom VS Richter is eh, Chrom VS Zack Fair is also eh, and Noctis VS 2B is hot garbo.

Likelihood: 7/10. This is definitely the most requested matchup for Chrom, but for Noctis, well, Shirou says hi.

Number 78

Black Panther VS Hawkman TN

Black Panther VS Hawkman (Marvel VS DC)

Connections: Ancient rulers of mysterious kingdoms that have passed their animal-related name on for generations (Carter Hall being reincarnated a whole lot and Black Panther being the title of the king / protector of Wakanda), as well as being in possession of a rare and unique metal that also makes up their outfits (Vibranium and Nth Metal respectively).

Why I want this matchup: Blame KISSANDKANCER for making me want this to happen as much as I do. Like, I originally had no intention of wanting Black Panther to return (I was pretty satisfied with his fight with Batman), plus I wasn't interested in any of Hawkman's matchups, but then this matchup came along, and I just fell in love with it. It's such a unique idea (Even if it is a Marvel VS DC matchup) that works so well, so I kinda have to like it. "But Splat, Hawkman fights from the air while T'Challa is a ground fighter, how's that gonna make for an interesting fight?" Well, no worries, this isn't like King Kong VS Mothra, where it's just one combatant chasing the flying opponent who just keeps throwing out beans because she can't do anything on land. Hawkman is more than capable of fighting the king of Wakanda on the ground, and even if he does take to the skies, I'm sure we could get to see Panther do some pretty sick stunts to try and catch him. Overall, it's a unique matchup and a fun idea, so I like it.

Roots: Rest in peace, Chadwick Boseman.

Bets: Hawkman. Considering how he's fought on par with herald like Black Adam in the past and has a gauntlet that can hurt Superman (And he's obviously more versatile than Black Panther in general), I think he can deal out more than enough kinetic energy to get through T'Challa's vibranium suit and take him out.

Score name: "Black Hawk"

Thoughts on alternatives: As previously stated, the alternatives these guys have are "Meh" at best to "They put me to sleep" at worst, especially Black Panther VS Wildcat and Hawkman VS Falcon.

Likelihood: 2/10. There's no competition and most people seem to at least agree that this is a solid matchup, but I'm pretty sure Kiss and I are the only two people actively requesting this to happen (Could totally be wrong there, though), and Black Panther isn't all that likely to return anyway, so I can't say I'm too optimistic about this matchup's chances.

Number 77

Joseph VS Edward TN

Joseph Joestar VS Edward Elric (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure VS Fullmetal Alchemist)

Connections: Master strategists that fight primarily using the environment around them, they both lost their arm and got them replaced with a metal one (Or just the hand in Joseph's case, but whatever), and they both seek to find and / or protect a powerful red stone. It's also a battle of opposites, since Edward is stern and stubborn whereas Joseph is an absolute goof.

Why I want this matchup: From what I've seen on this Wiki, Aang VS Edward didn't seem to get the best of praise among the fans. One person says it was the worst matchup Edward could've possibly gotten, another saying it was their least favorite of Season 6, among others (Probably, those are the only two I can think of). But honestly, I thought it was a pretty solid and fun episode as well as a decent matchup. With that said, though, I'd still like to see Edward return. Meanwhile, Joseph is arguably the most overdue Joestar for Death Battle and would arguably be one of the most fun to see out of his family, and out of his large matchup spread, I'd say the Fullmetal Alchemist would be his best matchup. The connections are good, there's some pretty cool animation potential, the banter between the serious teenage Ed and the goofy adult Joseph would be absolutely splendid, and as stated, we finally get another Joestar on Death Battle, which is definitely a plus.

Roots: "Your next line is "Bets: Joseph Joestar. Edward is definitely a lot more powerful than Joseph, but the inventor of the Joestar secret technique should have the speed and hax necessary to be able to win this with mid-difficulty."

Bets: Joseph Joestar. Edward is definitely a lot more powerful than Joseph, but the inventor of the Joestar secret technique should have the speed and hax necessary to be able to win this with mid-difficulty...wait a minute...

Score name: "Fullmetal Joestar"

Thoughts on alternatives: As I mentioned a while back, Spider-Man VS Joseph is a pretty fun idea as well. The connections / animation potential are solid enough, and the banter has the potential to be some of the snarkiest and sassiest Death Battle has ever given us, which I would be more than down for...but I dunno, something about this matchup has just always made me gravitate towards it more. As for Joseph's other matchups, Johnny Cage is my preferred DBX for him, Trevor Belmont is eh, a Jojo Battle Royale is kinda lame, and Star-Lord has better. Oh, and Edward VS Harry is painfully average and Ed VS Tanjiro is decent.

Likelihood: 8/10. While Joseph does have competition, Edward seems to be his most popular and requested matchup, and the same could be said for Ed, so I'd say it has a good shot.

Number 76

Grievous VS Nefarious TN

General Grievous VS Dr. Nefarious (Star Wars VS Ratchet & Clank)

Connections: Ruthless army generals that became cyborgs after an accident. It's also a battle of opposites, as Grievous hates droids and resents being a cyborg, whereas Nefarious wants everything to be robotic.

Why I want this matchup: Hmmm, something's telling me Greek's not gonna like me for this one. Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree here, because I think this matchup's pretty awesome. General Grievous is a character I've wanted to see in Death Battle for years, and I think I'm happy to say that I've found his best opponent (I know this isn't the first time I've talked about this matchup, but still). The connections are pretty good, the animation potential is solid, especially if we were to make it a robot army fight, the music would slap (Death Battle has proven quite a few times that DB scores involving Star Wars are naturally amazing), and the banter between these two is absolutely splendid. Basically, this matchup basically has just about all the perks that makes villain fights so much fun to me.

Roots: General Grievous

Bets: Dr. Nefarious. Grievous may be tougher than Nefarious and his lightsabers could certainly make short work of most of Nefarious' ranged stuff, but the crazed droid doctor blitzes the general badly and can negate his durability with the Biobliterator, so I'd say that's a good counter to Grievous' advantages.

Score name: "Nefarious Grievance."

Thoughts on alternatives: I've never been a huge fan of Cortex VS Nefarious, to be honest. The connections are solid, but the matchup itself is pretty mediocre to me. And as previously stated, Grievous VS Doc Ock isn't too great a matchup.

Likelihood: 8/10. Cortex and Doc Ock do provide decent competition for these two, but this matchup is still the most requested for both characters, despite it being a fairly recent idea, so I'd say it's chances are pretty high.

Number 75

Raphael VS Elektra TN

Raphael VS Elektra (Ninja Turtles VS Marvel Comics)

Connections: Hot-headed ninjas dressed in red that wield sai as their primary weapon. They also fight alongside other ninja-like heroes (The Turtles and Daredevil respectively) to protect New York City during the nighttime.

Why I want this matchup: As I may have stated in the past, the Ninja Turtles (Besides Leonardo, obviously) are seriously overdue for a return to Death Battle. We haven't seen them since Season 1 and they each have a cool matchup of their own, as I've also stated. And since I'm at one of those matchups now, let's talk about it. I'd say we're kinda overdue for a ninja VS ninja fight, and this is definitely a pretty good way to bring that theme back to Death Battle. The connections are solid enough, the animation potential is honestly pretty great (Imagine these two leaping from building to building while fighting each other at night in a 3D animation...sounds pretty fun to me), and more reps from both series is pretty epic, IMO.

Roots: Raphael

Bets: Raphael. If they do the same thing to him that they did with Leo, then he should be both strong and tough enough to out-do Elektra's greater speed and experience.

Score name: "Sai of Despair"

Thoughts on alternatives: Raph VS Scarlet Spider honestly feels like a waste when Shana and Elektra are right there for them. Oh, and Elektra VS Cheshire is lame, let's move on.

Likelihood: 8/10. It's arguably the most requested matchup for both, and the Turtles are in pretty high demand for a return to Death Battle, not to mention that there's very little competition, so I'd say this one's pretty much all set.

Number 74

Rey VS Korra TN

Rey VS Korra (Star Wars VS Avatar)

Connections: Female successors to legendary heroes from their original series that are naturally gifted with mysterious abilities and battle the corrupt governments of their world, sometimes with a staff, but most of the time with their natural power, not to mention they also have a state of mind that grants them the power of loads of heroes from previous generations.

Why I want this matchup: Personal hot take in 3, 2, 1...I like this matchup and think it's the best option for both characters. Now, please point your swords away from my face so that I can gladly explain why this is the case for me. Now, I've seen a lot of criticisms for this matchup, like "their styles clash awkwardly," "it only exists to pander to Mary Sue haters," (Even though Korra's not a Mary Sure) stuff like that, and I want to give my thoughts on these critiques. First off, I don't think Rey and Korra's fighting styles clash that badly. Sure, Korra doesn't really have anything that can match a lightsaber (Though a staff-on-staff fight is a decent substitute), but let's not forget that Kakashi didn't have anything that could match Obi-Wan's lightsaber, but that was one of the best episodes of all time (The lightning kunai scene was more an animation choice), so I think I can let that slide. And of course, watching Rey's Force powers trade blows with Korra's bending would honestly be pretty awesome, so there's also that. And about the Mary Sue critique, what if I told you I liked this matchup because I genuinely thought it could work as opposed to just wanting to see two "Mary Sues" fight each other (Though, again, Korra's not a Mary Sue)? So yeah, I personally think this matchup gets too much crap and I'd like to see it happen because I think it's cool. So let's move on.

Roots: Korra

Bets: Korra. Now, you could make an argument for Rey winning, but I think Korra takes it for four reasons. First off, Avatar scaling. Not much explanation needed there. Second, she's far more experienced and disciplined than Rey is, plus she has better control over her powers. Third, she can always just metalbend Rey's lightsaber to the point where it's useless and she has to rely on the Force (Which wouldn't hinder the animation that badly, as shown in Yoda VS King Mickey). And fourth, IIRC, Rey never appeared in Legends, so scaling her to the stuff that we see there is kinda iffy to me. Yes, Rey could just crush Korra's organs with the Force (And while I'm talking about it, the Force would definitely be an obstacle for Korra), but that would be pretty OOC for her, so I don't really see that happening, TBH.

Score name: "Legends Awaken"

Thoughts on alternatives: Korra VS Delsin is...it’s fine, I guess. Like, I get the hype behind it, but I dunno, it just never interested me all that much. Oh, and there is no Korra VS Storm in Ba Sing Se, you are safe here. Rey VS Houki is alright, though.

Likelihood: 7/10. Delsin is definitely catching up in popularity in terms of requested Korra matchups, but considering Star Wars is far more mainstream than Infamous and this is still fairly popular itself, I wouldn't count it out yet.

Number 73

Black Lightning VS Storm TN

Black Lightning VS Storm (DC VS Marvel)

Connections: African American superheroes that fight alongside others to protect the Earth, plus they wield awesome weather powers, primarily using lightning.

Why I want this matchup: Have you ever had that matchup where the instant you laid eyes on it, it was love at first sight? Well, I have a lot of those, TBH, but this is definitely one of them. As someone who likes a unique Marvel VS DC matchup, I think I can safely say that this is a pretty damn cool idea. It's got decent connections, incredible animation potential, plus we introduce two fairly underrated superheroes to Death Battle, which you should know that I'm a fan of.

Roots: Storm

Bets: Storm. When your power is capable of impressing Thor of all people, you know you're doing something right.

Score name: "Black Storm"

Thoughts on alternatives: Storm VS Fujin is a pretty solid alternative to this, and if it weren't for Black Lightning, it would've been my preferred matchup, but it is what it is, I suppose. As for Black Lightning's ideal alternative, Yoruichi is also a pretty acceptable matchup, but again, I just personally find Storm more appealing. Oh, and Black Lightning VS Electro sucks and you could already tell that I don't like Korra VS Storm.

Likelihood: 6/10. It's somewhat popular and it's Marvel VS DC, plus the only matchup that provides any real competition is Fujin, but that's decently popular too, so this happening isn't exactly outside the realm of possibility.

Number 72

Note: This matchup is now an official episode, which is awesome.

Heihachi VS Geese TN

Heihachi Mishima VS Geese Howard (Tekken VS King of Fighters)

Connections: Evil billionaire tycoons from fighting games that host their own martial arts tournament, because why not? They're also really terrible dads.

Why I want this matchup: Honestly, I just want this for the banter. Like, obviously everything about this matchup is great to the point where I find it hard to believe that one could dislike it (Especially since we finally get more Tekken / King of Fighters in Death Battle), but what really carries this fight for me is the banter. Like, I could tell based off the pictures I used in that thumbnail of these guys that the banter would some of the most amazing, arrogant, and downright glorious stuff Death Battle has ever given us. Oh, and obviously the connections, music, and animation potential this matchup has are really good as well, as stated.

Roots: Heihachi

Bets: Heihachi. It's a pretty close fight and I've seen arguments for both, but I feel like I've seen more people say Heihachi wins, plus Tekken stats generally seem to be greater than King of Fighters stats, so I think I'll go with the world's worst grandpa for this fight.

Score name: "Kings of Iron" was probably the right option.

Thoughts on alternatives: Alternatives? What's that?!

Likelihood: Yes.

Number 71

Vader VS Obito TN

Darth Vader VS Obito (Star Wars VS Naruto)

Connections: Fallen heroes that were trained at a young age to use a cool spiritual energy with the help of a snarky mentor that was also their friend and were supposed to be heroic prodigies, but then they were manipulated and corrupted by an evil old man, and then their love interests died, and then they became mortally wounded in battle and were presumed to be dead, but they got better. They then wore scary masks to hide their scars and strike fears into their enemies and became pawns of a much greater evil, but they did end up redeeming themselves thanks to influence from the protagonist.

Why I want this matchup: Honestly, I've been looking forward to writing this entry. Not just because I like the matchup and want to discuss its perks, but also because I want to prove a point. So, I dunno if this is a hot take or not, but I think calling this matchup a carbon copy of Obi-Wan Kenobi VS Kakashi but with villains couldn't be further from the truth. Sure, Vader and Obito do fight in a few ways similar to their former friends, and yes, it does have the same outcome, but this isn't anywhere near as bad an echo matchup as Deku VS Rock Lee or Roxas VS Dark Pit. In fact, this is easily one of the better echo matchups out there, because both characters do actually have movesets different enough from the matchup it spawned from to warrant its own episode and be a fun watch. We could get more usage of the dark side of the Force out of Vader, we could get more Sharingan shenanagins and we get to see some Izanagi stuff from Obito, or maybe we could a scene involving Vader getting trapped in Kamui, which ObiKak did not have, and we could also get a scene where Vader takes on Jinchuriki Obito, which just sounds f__king awesome...See what I mean? There's still a lot that this matchup could do to differentiate itself from Obi-Wan VS Kakashi, and I didn't even mention that the connections are arguably the best on this entire list, plus it has amazing music and banter potential, which is basically the "good villain matchup starter pack," helped by the fact that involves Darth motherf__king Vader. So yeah, not only is this matchup plenty unique and easily my favorite echo MU, but it's also just a really fun matchup in general, as well as easily being Vader's best matchup should he return, as well as Obito's should he get in.

Roots: Darth Vader

Bets: Vader. Obito's hax and Jinchuriki form would be one hell of a challenge for Vader, but the Sith Lord still has far better stats and even has his own hax to help him out thanks to the Force.

Score name: "Fallen Innocence"

Thoughts on alternatives: *Looks at Vader VS Terra / Miraak and Obito VS Zeref.* What alternatives?

Likelihood: 7/10. There's still the people that think this is too similar to Obi-Wan VS Kakashi, but this matchup's popularity did kinda skyrocket because of that episode and has a good-sized following, plus the competition either has their own matchup, is too obscure, or just sucks, so I'd say this has a fair shot of happening.

Number 70

Donald VS Daffy TN V2

Donald VS Daffy (Disney VS Looney Tunes)

Connections: Hot-tempered duck sidekicks to famous cartoon mascots.

Why I want this matchup: This matchup right here >>>>>>> Mickey VS Bugs. Don't get me wrong, Mickey VS Bugs is great too, but god damn, this is just so much more fun. While its more iconic and confirmed counterpart does have potential to be a cartoonishly insane fight, this matchup honestly ups the ante by providing an even crazier fight considering their personalities and how they both have stuff that can destroy universes, plus there's no doubt that Donald VS Daffy would also be a way funnier fight to watch than Mickey VS Bugs. That would obviously have good comedy as well, but considering how immature and angry these two dabbling ducks can get (Combined with the fact that it could start with a piano fight like in Who Framed Roger Rabbit), it's not really much of a contest for which matchup brings more laughs to the table. So yeah, this matchup is just a fun time and I can see why it's some people's most wanted.

Roots: Both, leaning towards Daffy

Bets: Daffy. Stets...and also better Toon Force, but mostly stets.

Score name: "Ducking Around"

Thoughts on alternatives: The thought of these guys having any alternatives, you could say...quacks me up...sorry, not sorry.

Likelihood: 10/10. It may not be out-right confirmed like Mickey VS Bugs is, but that doesn't change the fact that this is still easily one of the most requested cartoon fights out there as well as not having any competition, so legit why wouldn't they do this?

Number 69

Macho Man VS Kool Aid Man TN

"Macho Man" Randy Savage VS Kool-Aid Man (Wrestlemania VS Kool-Aid)

Connections: Buff, smiling men that enjoy crashing through walls, promoting a certain type of food (Slim Jims and Kool Aid respectively), and, of course, they really like saying "Oh yeah!"

Why I want this matchup: Okay, I'm just gonna say that I re-ranked this list plenty of times before I started working on it, but with each re-ranking, I made damn sure that this matchup stayed in the 69th spot. That's how dedicated I was to making this the meme matchup on this list, and I do not regret that decision whatsoever. And obviously, this matchup kinda deserves to be this high on the list, just because it's a stupid idea that works surprisingly well and would fun as hell to watch. And I suppose that's all I have to say here besides "good connections, animation / music potential, and banter," so let's move on.

Roots: Both, leaning towards Randy

Bets: "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Multiversal WWE go *chair slam.*

Score name: "OH YEAH!"

Thoughts on alternatives: I get the idea behind Kool-Aid Man VS Pepsiman, but there's no way in hell I would pass up a matchup as good as this.

Likelihood: 9/10. Ben not being a fan of joke fights kinda holds this matchup back, but not only is it still a pretty heavily requested matchup, but Chad loves it as well, so that definitely doesn't hurt its chances.

Number 68

Marth VS Erdrick TN

Marth VS Erdrick (Fire Emblem VS Dragon Quest)

Connections: Brave swordsmen that left their homes as teenagers to save the world and finish what their fathers couldn't, and they soon grew to be legendary heroes to the point where their descendants would carry on their name and use it in the name of good.

Why I want this matchup: Honestly, what isn't there to like about this matchup? It has your standard good connections and animation potential, it has some great music potential since not only is Fire Emblem's soundtrack some of the best in gaming, but Dragon Quest has some good quality stuff too, and while I'm on that subject, not only do we finally get a Fire Emblem character in Death Battle, but Dragon Quest getting repped is pretty cool as well. So yeah, good matchup.

Roots: Marth

Bets: Erdrick. Marth may be more skilled with a sword, but that won't help much when Erdrick has greater stats and hax on his side.

Score name: "Hero's Quest"

Thoughts on alternatives: For Erdrick, a Hero Battle Royale starring the four Heroes in Smash is a decent idea, but I'd just prefer Erdrick to fight Marth instead. Speaking of Marth, his alternatives are pretty average. Patroklos is fine, but not the best Soul Calibur VS Fire Emblem matchup, Warrior of Light is just kinda boring, Jonathan has better, and a FE battle royale would be a bit of a waste when most of the characters involved also have better.

Likelihood: 9/10. Most requested matchup for both, FE in high demand, competition being bad or obscure, and all that jazz.

Number 67

Maul VS Byakuya TN

Darth Maul VS Byakuya (Star Wars VS Bleach)

Connections: Supernatural swordsmen with unique blades who are brothers to fellow swordsmen with similar abilities (Savage and Rukia). While they generally act cold and enigmatic to their siblings, they do genuinely care for them and have risked their lives to protect them on unexpected occasions. They are able to wield naturally occurring energy to aid them in battle (the Force and Reiatsu) and have suffered notable betrayals by their peers, not to mention they have a shaky respect for their rivals.

Why I want this matchup: Well, a large majority of the Wiki, you did it. It took me a while, but I'm sold on this matchup now, and rightfully so, because it's pretty damn cool. So, I should probably give a bit of a history that I've had with this matchup as a whole. Honestly, I used to not like it. I thought their fighting styles wouldn't mesh and at the time, I was still pushing for another Maul matchup to happen, so I thought it was just something that got in the way (Silly reason, I know). But slowly over time, I warmed up to the matchup, and nowadays, it's my preferred for both characters. The connections are very solid, and the animation potential is actually pretty good with both fighters' wide arsenals meshing pretty well with each other, plus Byakuya's Bankai stuff would provide a challenge for Maul that would definitely improve on the animation. Oh, and the music and banter potential are both great, which goes without saying, not to mention a unique franchise combo that works is always appreciated. Overall, this matchup's pretty neat.

Roots: Darth Maul

Bets: Maul. As said, Byakuya's hax and Bankai forms would keep Maul on his toes, but Maul definitely has better stats thanks to Legends scaling, which should give him the W more often than not.

Score name: "Scattered Night"

Thoughts on alternatives: All of Byakuya's alternatives are either boring or complete and utter crap, now onto Maul's. As some of you may know, I used to prefer Maul VS Scorpion, which I still think is a badass matchup with plenty of potential, but I just think this matchup has more potential on top of being way closer. As for Maul's other stuff, Groh is cool, Akechi is fine, Kurome is boring, and Carnage is extreme cringe.

Likelihood: 7/10. Nowadays, it's slowly but surely becoming the most requested matchup for both, plus most of their competition has their own popular matchup, so I'd say this has a good shot at happening.

Number 66

Nova VS John TN

Richard Rider VS John Stewart (Marvel VS DC Comics)

Connections: Space cops that work for an intergalactic corps.

Why I want this matchup: Well, first off, John Stewart is one of my favorite DC characters ever, and him getting into Death Battle would be awesome. And since Nova doesn't have any better matchups now that Hal had his best one, I'd say John is the perfect fit for the guy. The connections are fairly straightforward, but the animation and banter potential definitely more than make up for it, and if Emerald Heroes is anything to go by, the score for this matchup would be some good quality stuff as well. Definitely one of the better Marvel VS DC matchups that haven't been done yet.

Roots: John Stewart

Bets: John. Scale him to other Lanterns and you'll see why I think he wins.

Score name: "Green Nova's Light" or "Emerald Nova"

Thoughts on alternatives: Nova VS Kyle does not exist and John VS Mace Windu gives me aneurisms, let's move on.

Likelihood: 8/10. After Ben VS Hal happened, this quickly grew to be Nova's most requested matchup as well as John's, plus Kyle has his own matchup that you'll see here soon enough, so I think it's safe to say that this matchup's chances are fairly high.

Number 65

Cell VS Dark Samus TN

Cell VS Dark Samus (Dragon Ball VS Metroid)

Connections: Evil cybernetic lifeforms containing the DNA of the main hero that strive to become more powerful by assimilating others.

Why I want this matchup: It's a good Cell matchup and it's a villain fight, therefore I like it...what, you wanted me to go into more detail? Alright, I'll say a bit more. Even though I haven't seen Dragon Ball, I think I can safely consider Cell one of my favorite characters from that series, mainly because of this video, so I'm sure you can understand when I say I consider him one of the more overdue DB characters, and while he does have a good amount of acceptable matchups, this is definitely my favorite for him, as well as my favorite for Dark Samus, and I don't even need to mention how overdue we are for another Metroid rep in DB. The connections are good, the animation potential is pretty fun, while the interaction potential isn't the best since Dark Samus doesn't talk, I'm sure we could still get some great lines from Cell (Especially if we get DevilArtemis to voice him, which would just be ridiculous if we didn't), and the music would obviously be pretty good as well (When has a score from a matchup with two villains ever not been good). Oh, and it's a unique combination of franchises, which is always a point in a matchup's favor.

Roots: Robo-Plankton

Bets: Dark Samus. It's apparently a closer fight than it used to be and Cell definitely has higher AP (Even though he doesn't scale to any of the DBS stuff), but I still think Dark Samus can take this thanks to her speed and hax, because I feel like it'd be pretty tough to beat someone who's millions of times faster than you and can infect you with Phazon with a single touch.

Score name: "Dark Perfection"

Thoughts on alternatives: As said, most of Cell's alternatives are pretty decent, though they also have their own issues. Metal Sonic is thematic as f__k, but he doesn't really need to return. Zygarde would be cool, but he has Chaos. Super Skrull is interesting, but he has Deoxys. Mewtwo also has good connections as well as good animation potential, but you already know who I prefer for Mewtwo, and Amazo has Super Adaptoid. As for Cell's bad alternatives, Meruem exists and I wish it didn't, and Doomsday isn't even worth slandering. And for Dark Samus' alternatives...(Looks at Dark Link, Dark Pit, Mephiles, and Bass)...they suck.

Likelihood: 7/10. As you could tell, both fighters have a lot of competition, but this still seems to be the most requested matchup for both characters, so counting it out would be a pretty silly decision.

Number 64

Eternatus VS Ghidorah TN Ver

Eternatus VS King Ghidorah (Pokemon VS Godzilla)

Connections: World ending, multiheaded space dragons who came to earth via meteor to destroy the planet long ago, but were defeated and lay dormant. But thousands of years later, they were awakened by extremists with good intentions, and both proved to be uncontrollable and ran amok. Both have the power to send other monsters on a rampage (Dynamax Energy and King Ghidorah's roar), and both are among the largest of their series monsters.

Why I want this matchup: Blame Brandon's commissioned score for me being such a fan of this matchup. As soon as I listened to that score and learned the connections, I was onboard with this immediately. Not only does it have great connections and stellar music potential, but the animation potential is absolutely splendid as well, plus more Pokemon reps are always appreciated by me, so this matchup gets a double thumbs up in my book.

Roots: Eternatus

Bets: King Ghidorah. Granted, Eternatus does beat most versions of Ghidorah via Pokemon scaling, but if we composite the false king of the monsters, then Ghidorah should take this pretty handily, especially with potential Godzilla scaling.

Score name: "Eternal Kings"

Thoughts on alternatives: Ghidorah VS Deathwing is fine, but this matchup is far more interesting to me (Especially due to my Pokemon bias), plus Deathwing has Alduin, so it all balances out.

Likelihood: 6/10. It came into existence very recently, but it has since gained a pretty hefty following and is easily the most requested for Eternatus, so we'll see how it goes for this matchup.

Number 63

Edelgard VS Kylo Ren TN

Edelgard VS Kylo Ren (Fire Emblem VS Star Wars)

Connections: Semi-edgelords that betrayed their friends to form a powerful dictatorship, plus they both command armies and have an extremely questionable sense of justice. They also both ended up falling in love with their rival (Byleth and Rey) and their empires eventually got toppled by a rebellion.

Why I want this matchup: Honestly, this combination of franchises has no right to work as well as it does here. Fire Emblem and Star Wars are about as different as can be, but when it comes to this matchup, it really creates something amazing, especially when you consider how damn good the music potential is. And of course, the matchup itself works like a charm. The connections are definitely there, the animation potential isn't half bad, and the banter is oh so good. These two's personalities are so alike, but Ben's "edgy," less mature side would certainly make for some great interactions with the more stern Edelgard. Oh, and Fire Emblem / Star Wars reps in Death Battle are awesome. So yeah, this is a pretty fun idea.

Roots: Edelgard

Bets: Edelgard. Sure, Kylo has the Force and a lightsaber, but Edelgard out-stats heavily to the point where Kylo's advantages probably won't help as much.

Score name: "Apex of the Galaxy"

Thoughts on alternatives: Kylo Ren VS Frost is fine by itself, but compared to this, it's a bit of a snooze-fest. As for Edelgard's alternatives, Zhang He isn't all that interesting to me and Lelouch just puts me in a coma.

Likelihood: 7/10. If it weren't for Kylo VS Frost also being a highly requested matchup, I would've given this a higher rating, but I think I can still safely say that this is the most requested for both, especially in Edelgard's case.

Number 62

Scarlet Witch VS Zatanna TN

Scarlet Witch VS Zatanna (Marvel VS DC)

Connections: Comic book magical girls, plus the Marvel VS DC thing.

Why I want this matchup: Y'know, I can definitely see why this is a lot of people's most wanted Marvel VS DC matchup. While the connections are less than stellar, they still give the matchup a reason to exist, and everything else it has to offer more than makes up to it, especially the animation potential. These two have such ridiculous abilities and stats that it would be loads of fun to see them clash. "But Splat, this is just Strange VS Fate, but with vaginas! How could this be an interesting fight?" Sorry, random audience member, but I'm gonna have to hard disagree with you there. Both Wanda and Zatanna have more than enough differences from their magical male allies to make for a unique episode, and not only that, but this could be the time to show just how insanely powerful comic book magicians can get considering Strange VS Fate, while a solid episode itself, definitely could've been cooler. So yeah, I think this matchup is good stuff.

Roots: Scarlet Witch

Bets: Scarlet Witch. Zatanna presumably has better hax, but Wanda's stats are too much for the backwards-speaking mage.

Score name: "Snaicigam Telracs"

Thoughts on alternatives: Like these two have any good alternatives.

Likelihood: 10/10. Similar to Ant-Man VS Atom, there's no reason why they shouldn't / wouldn't do this matchup. It's by far one of the most requested Marvel VS DC matchups out there and has been requested for years while also having no competition, so I seriously doubt they wouldn't do this in the future.

Number 61

Makoto VS Tifa TN

Makoto Niijima VS Tifa Lockhart (Persona VS Final Fantasy)

Connections: Fist-fighting brunettes that serve as the brains and brawn for a team of vigilantes pursued by the government, plus they both end up falling in love with the main hero and know someone who tried to change their identity.

Why I want this matchup: Best girl Makoto getting repped and best girl #2 Tifa returning, need I say more? Just kidding, I'll say more. Tifa is probably amongst the top 10 for characters in need of a return to Death Battle, considering how not only was Yang far from her best matchup, but she also got screwed over kinda badly in that episode (Even if the fight itself was honestly okay), so I think she could use a second episode. Meanwhile, more Persona 5 reps are also pretty epic, including Makoto, as you could tell, and this is easily the best matchup for Codename: Queen, in my opinion. The connections are solid, the animation potential kicks ass (Maybe we could get a motorcycle showdown at the start?), the banter would be awesome, and the music potential is through the roof considering how good the soundtracks from P5 and FF7 are. Overall, what else can I say besides "It's a fun matchup?"

Roots: Both, leaning towards Makoto

Bets: Tifa. It all depends on what we use for both characters, but let's just say for the sake of making the fight as cool as it can be that both multiversal Persona 5 and FF7 are legit thanks to Dissidia scaling and something having to do with destroying a boatload of Persona timelines. In that case, both would be equal in power, but Tifa is apparently much faster and has better hax, so she should be able to take a hard-fought W here.

Score name: "Heavenly Cycle"

Thoughts on alternatives: For Makoto’s alternatives, Medaka is pretty “meh” in my opinion and Snow is fairly average. As for Tifa, Knuckles is also pretty mediocre, as stated, and Tifa VS Chun-Li is...honestly alright, but it's definitely not as cool as Makoto.

Likelihood: 7/10. Medaka VS Makoto is catching up in popularity, but I'd still consider this the most requested matchup for both (It's certainly the most requested for Tifa), so I'd say it has a shot at happening.

Number 60

Byleth VS Rean TN

Byleth Eisner VS Rean Schwarzer (Fire Emblem VS Trails of Cold Steel)

Connections: Blue-haired teachers for religious schools that teach fighting, plus they wield a powerful ancient weapon that only they can use and are linked to a mysterious being. Bonus connection, they both have an alias that names them "Ashen" (Byleth being the Ashen Demon and Rean being the Ashen Chevalier).

Why I want this matchup: Any of you have that one matchup where you don't know anything about one of the characters, but you still want it to happen anyway? I have a few of those, but this is definitely a chief among them. To say I know jacksh_t about Rean or Trails of Cold Steel would be an understatement, but it's easily the best matchup for a character from one of my favorite games of all time, so I am more than willing to say that this is one of my most wanted matchups. And aside from that little explanation, I don't have much else to say besides the usual perks, but I will mention that the music potential is especially noteworthy. Still, this matchup is good quality stuff.

Roots: Byleth

Bets: Rean. Divine Pulse could probably score Byleth a few victories if this fight was done a hundred times, but more often than not, Rean's far superior stats are a bit too much for Gareg Mach's best professor to handle.

Score name: "Heroes of Cold Fire," "Ashen Fury," or "Class in Session"

Thoughts on alternatives: I would rather be locked in a Discord chatroom with Spongebobboy, DragonFist, and BigShawn213 all at once for 3 hours than subject myself to the cancer that is Byleth VS Luminary. As for his other matchups, Kakashi and Obi-Wan don’t need to return, and Aizawa and Traveler (Genshin Impact) have better.

Likelihood: 7/10. Obscurity will hurt any matchup's chances, including this one, but I still think this matchup has a decent shot at happening. It has gained a bit of a following outside the Wiki and it got a commissioned score by Brandon, so I wouldn't count it out at the moment.

Number 59

Samus VS Master Chief TN

Samus Aran VS Master Chief (Metroid VS Halo)

Connections: Space marines that were orphaned at a young age and have dedicated their lives to fighting the toughest aliens out there.

Why I want this matchup: Honestly, doing this matchup would just be so damn respectful. Like, the matchup itself is pretty good on its own, with it having decent connections and solid animation potential, but the main reason I want this to happen is because it would be the perfect way to pay homage to the late great Monty Oum, who was a monumental figure in kickstarting the VS community as a whole and was a great friend to most of the DB team. That alone is enough to make this matchup one of my most wanted.

Roots: Both, leaning Samus

Bets: Samus. Stets.

Score name: "Haloid" (Legit, why would it be anything else?)

Thoughts on alternatives: Samus VS Iron Man and Master Chief VS Doomguy 2 are both perfectly fine matchups, but given this matchup's importance in the VS world, I feel like not doing it in favor of a different matchup would be a bit of a waste.

Likelihood: 8/10. With the legacy and impact that this matchup has had, I'd be kinda surprised if this didn't happen this season.

Number 58

Hiro & Baymax VS Hiccup & Toothless TN

Hiro & Baymax VS Hiccup & Toothless (Big Hero 6 VS How to Train Your Dragon)

Connections: Best friend duos from popular CGI movies of the 2010s where the human usually lets the bigger guy do the fighting, plus they also fight alongside their human friends to defeat evil.

Why I want this matchup: Honestly, I don't have much to say besides "It's a fun idea." It basically has everything going for it and it would be cool to see these characters' very different arsenals clash in a Death Battle, plus I'm a huge fan of their movies and the fact that this matchup works makes my childhood very happy.

Roots: Both, leaning Hiccup & Toothless

Bets: Hiro & Baymax. Toothless is probably faster and Hiccup is definitely a far more capable fighter than Hiro (Unless I'm missing something from the Big Hero 6 comics), so there could be a few cases where they take this, but most of the time, Hiro & Baymax's superior strength, durability, and arsenal takes the cake here.

Score name: "Heroes in Training"

Thoughts on alternatives: Baymax VS Alphonse is boring and Toothless VS Spyro is cringe, moving on.

Likelihood: 9/10. This is probably one of the most requested matchups out there involving animated movie characters, plus there's next to no competition, so I can definitely see this happening.

Number 57

Lucy VS Ash TN

Lucy Heartfilia VS Ash Ketchum (Fairy Tail VS Pokemon)

Connections: Anime teenagers that left left their homes to become the best of the best at something, and of course, they usually summon other weird creatures from specialized containers to help them in battle. They also travel all around fighting others with skills such as their alongside their friends and a potential love interest.

Why I want this matchup: As you can tell, I'm kinda running out of things to say for some of these matchups. Yeah, I just want this one because I just think it's a really cool idea and it would be pretty neat to see Lucy's spirits clash with Ash's Pokemon (Though it'd probably be even more interesting to try and guess which Pokemon we'll be giving Ash). And other than that, this matchup has the usual perks, like good connections, really cool music potential, great banter (Remember how sassy Ash was in the first few seasons? That would work great with Lucy's personality), and the numerous strategies that both Lucy and Ash could pull out in this fight would be pretty awesome too..

Roots: Ash Ketchup

Bets: Ash. His Pokemon >>>>> Lucy's spirits in terms of stats.

Score name: "Zodiac Champions"

Thoughts on alternatives: Honestly, I could care less for Ash VS Yugi. It is an objectively good matchup, but it's just kinda there to me, not to mention if we're gonna pit Yugi against a Pokemon trainer, Red would make more sense, IMO. As for Lucy's alternatives, Rin is average, Nami is kinda boring, and Lucy VS Yugi confuses me to high heaven.

Likelihood: 7/10. It's still a popular matchup, but Ash VS Yugi provides some pretty heavy competition and could be considered a rivalry matchup, so that does kinda hurt this one's chances a little. Still, I don't think it should be counted out just yet.

Number 56

Spongebob VS Gumball TN Ver

Spongebob VS Gumball (Nickelodeon VS Cartoon Network)

Connections: Iconic cartoon characters that regularly break the laws of physics and can do basically whatever they want with their cartoonish bodies. They also stand out in their towns (Spongebob being a sponge in a city composing of fish and Gumball being a cat in a town consisting of living inanimate objects), are portrayed as dumb and wimpy even though they can survive just about anything, are hated by their grumpy next-door neighbor, and are usually oblivious to their surroundings which accidentally makes things worse at times. It's also a battle of opposites, as Spongebob is friendly, bubbly, and always willing to help people out whereas Gumball has an ego complex and is only truly nice if it warrants attention. Oh yeah, and Nick VS CN.

Why I want this matchup: So, I've had a bit of a history with this matchup recently. It was gonna be on the list from the beginning, but overtime, I lost interest in it. I thought the connections were so-and-so and it just started to appeal to me less each day, to the point where I was gonna make it an honorable mention instead. However, along came Hyper Anon and his blog pointing out the arguments made against it. And I'm just gonna say, my interest in this matchup is right back up to where it is and possibly higher, because it is a really fun idea overall. The connections are quite solid, the animation potential is pretty great considering how well their arsenals and Toon Force stuff works with each other, there's banter potential for days, and the score potential is also pretty spicy as well. And no, it wouldn't be that uncanny to see these two fight each other since they're not absolute pacifists, as one of Spongebob's hobbies is karate and Gumball, as previously mentioned, is kind of a dick (Unless Penny is involved, of course). So yeah, there may still be a few minor issues with this matchup, it's definitely not enough to keep me from having this as one of my most wanted.

Roots: Sponge Boy Me Bob

Bets: Spongebob. Gumball has better Toon Force, but Spongebob still has a pretty good edge in stats over him.

Score name: "Amazingly Nautical"

Thoughts on alternatives: The only half-decent alternative I know of for Spongebob is Chowder, which is actually a pretty solid matchup. That being said, Gumball still feels more unique and I'm more familiar with him anyway. As for the rest of his alternatives, they're...not great. Deadpool, Sanji, and Aquaman shouldn't return, Luffy has better, Lincoln doesn't have enough to work with, Pinkie Pie has Unikitty, Pac-Man confuses me, Mickey and Bugs are all kinds of dumb considering they have each other, and Popeye is a throwaway matchup if I've ever seen one. As for Gumball, I'm gonna do you a favor and not bring up their alternatives since they all suck.

Likelihood: 9/10. Considering this is the most popular matchup for motherf__king Spongebob Squarepants, one of the most iconic and influential cartoon characters out there, I don't see any reason why this wouldn't happen, despite the competition.

Number 55

17 VS Cyborg TN

Android 17 VS Cyborg (Dragon Ball VS DC Comics)

Connections: Teenagers that were unwillingly turned into cyborg powerhouses, but they got over it and are now part of a team of heroes that defend the Earth.

Why I want this matchup: Cyborg is probably my most wanted DC character for Death Battle in general. While you could argue that there are others that take priority over him, I still want to see him the most mainly due to how cool his hax are and how likable he is himself. And if you ask me, this is the perfect matchup for him. While the connections aren't super great, it's still enough for the matchup to make sense, plus the animation potential is honestly really damn good considering how well their arsenals bounce off each other. The banter would also be pretty awesome if we use Cyborg's personality from the classic Teen Titans show, and it's also a decently debatable fight depending on what you believe for the characters. "Hold on, Splat, wouldn't 17 flying around at high speeds hinder the animation a little?" I mean, considering Cyborg can fly too, I wouldn't consider that a huge problem. So overall, this matchup's pretty dang cool.

Roots: Cyborg

Bets: Cyborg. Since I personally buy the arguments made in herald Cyborg's favor, he should be able to keep up with 17 in stats and absolutely wrecks him with his hax.

Score name: "Cyborg 17"

Thoughts on alternatives: Either one VS Genos is dumb, moving on.

Likelihood: 9/10. This matchup has risen very quickly in popularity ever since it was introduced and there's no competition, so I'd say this one's pretty much all set for DB.

Number 54

Archer VS Hakumen TN

Archer VS Hakumen (Fate VS BlazBlue)

Connections: Future versions from alternative universes that were summoned into the past and encountered their past selves in combat. They also lost someone dear to them and have a history of being servants and fighting alongside or against current descendants of royal bloodlines.

Why I want this matchup: So I'm sure it goes without saying that when it comes to franchises that are overdue as f__k for DB, Fate is definitely among the top tiers, right? Like, there are so many cool characters in that series that would be pretty cool to see in a DB animation (Namely Saber, Shirou, Gilgamesh, among many others), and out of the many Fate matchups out there, this is definitely my most wanted, especially since it brings in a franchise in need of a return to DB. The connections between the two are solid enough, the animation potential is pretty sick, the music potential is a royal nut-bringer (I mean, it combines friggin' Fate and BlazBlue, so...), and it's a unique combination of franchises, which I always appreciate if it works well enough. So yeah, I don't have much else to say besides "this matchup f__king slaps."

Roots: Both, leaning Archer

Bets: Archer. Apparently there's some stuff in Fate / Extra that he scales to, so that should put him on a higher level than Hakumen.

Score name: "A Fated Future"

Thoughts on alternatives: Hakumen VS Baiken is lame as all hell, now onto Archer's alts. Zack Fair and Black Rock Shooter are both fine, but I've always vibed more with this, personally. Oh, and as much as I respect Jack for being a based dude, Archer VS Deku will always confuse me.

Likelihood: 4/10. It's got its fans, but Hakumen VS Baiken is a rivalry matchup, which definitely hurts its chances, even though Baiken has a certain other matchup that you'll be seeing here soon enough.

Number 53

Cap VS Slade TN

Captain America VS Deathstroke (Marvel VS DC Comics)

Connections: Ordinary soldiers that joined the US military despite having no business being here (Steve was really weak and frail when he joined and Slade joined it illegally), but they then got willingly experimented on by the government and became incredible super soldiers. Oh, and they can both "see faster."

Why I want this matchup: Hey, remember how good the last two live-action DB fights were? Remember how fun last time Deathstroke in DB was considering he fought someone with a completely different personality from him? Yeah, put those two elements into this matchup and you have yourself a damn good time. Of all the hero VS villain fights out there from Marvel VS DC, this one has to have some of the best interaction potentialof the bunch. Cap's boy scout-ish, fearless, and heroic personality clashes so well with Slade's...well, Slade-ness that it's crazy, and the matchup has all the other perks to help it stand out as a pretty good one. "But Splat, Slade has a sword and guns while Cap just has the shield and maybe a gun. How would take make for a good hand-to-hand fight?" Well, first off, that shield is more versatile than some may seem, so the animation wouldn't be that badly hindered, IMO. Secondly, let's not forget that both fighters are expert martial artists and don't need their weapons to put up a good fight, so there's also that. Overall, pretty solid matchup.

Roots: America's Ass

Bets: Captain America. It's a pretty close fight and Slade does have his advantages, but Cap's greater strength, speed, and that darn shield should help him get the W more often than not.

Score name: "Captain's Stroke"

Thoughts on alternatives: There’re two matchups I can see getting in the way of this one, those being Deathstroke VS Taskmaster and Captain America VS Kamen Rider Ichigo. Both of those are very solid matchups in their own right, but this matchup just sounds too cool to pass up. Oh, and Cap VS Guile is eh.

Likelihood: 7/10. The matchups that provide competition for this have made their presence known, but I wouldn't count it out quite yet since it's still a popular matchup itself.

Number 52

Splinter VS Shifu TN

Splinter VS Shifu (Ninja Turtles VS Kung Fu Panda)

Connections: Elderly animal mentors that teach martial arts to other animals that they see potential in. They were also betrayed by someone close to them in their past and they're both Asian in one way or another (Splinter was originally a Japanese human whereas Shifu is a red panda, which is native to the Himalayas and other areas around China).

Why I want this matchup: Honestly, why wouldn't I want this? It honestly has everything going for it as a matchup. The connections are very solid, the animation potential is honestly amazing considering how good the hand-to-hand choreography has been in both series and would make for a really sick 3D fight, the music is pretty awesome as well, and the banter would be great too if we make this a battle of respect like Luke VS Saber (Hell, I'm sure both characters could give the fight great dialogue even if it wasn't a fight of respect). Also, more TMNT in DB as well as more movie characters is heavily appreciated by me.

Roots: Both, leaning Shifu

Bets: Splinter. Since Shifu apparently doesn't scale to the stuff Po can do, Splinter should out-stat, and his greater experience wouldn't hurt his chances either.

Score name: "Furry and Furious"

Thoughts on alternatives: Implying they have alternatives...at least good ones.

Likelihood: 9/10. It's not exactly as popular as it used to be, but it's still a pretty heavy request for an episode and has no competition, so I don't see what's stopping the team from doing this matchup.

Number 51

Luigi VS Pac-Man TN Ver

Luigi VS Pac-Man (Nintendo VS Bandai Namco)

Connections: Retro video game icons that use a variety of power-ups to fight ghosts. They also met their greatest nemesis (King Boo and Spooky) in a popular spinoff.

Why I want this matchup: I mean, we get to see Luigi in DB again and Pac-Man finally gets repped, plus this is honestly their only truly good matchup, so I kinda have to love it. Other than that, the other reasons I want it are about the same as others. Decent enough connections, great animation potential given their wacky arsenals, awesome music potential, and, again, both characters getting repped (again in Linguini's case) is hyped.

Roots: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KigVdcSr8s4

Bets: Luigi. He decimates Pacster in stats thanks to Paper Mario scaling, and even without that, he can still blitz and out-hax Pac-Man to death. Well, that or he could just one-shot Pac-Man by doing absolutely nothing.

Score name: "Gaming's Ghostbusters"

Thoughts on alternatives: While I admittedly wouldn't be against Luigi VS Tails 2 happening, I don't consider it a good idea. For the most part, it is kinda unnecessary and would be the same thing as last time, just with Luigi winning. As for Pac-Man's alternatives, Bomberman is actually a decent idea, but Earthworm Jim has been growing on me as an opponent for him, so I'll stick with this matchup. Oh, and Luigi VS Proto Man / Pac-Man VS Toriko are acceptable as well.

Likelihood: 7/10. There's still the chance that we'll get a Luigi VS Tails rematch, but this matchup has gotten pretty popular recently and is easily the most requested for Pac-Man, so I wouldn't count it out quite yet.

Number 50

Steve VS Terrarian TN

Steve VS Terrarian (Minecraft VS Terraria)

Connections: Protagonists from famous sandbox indie games known for their blocky textures. Bonus connection, the creators of Minecraft and Terraria are buddies, IIRC.

Why I want this matchup: To put it simply, the creativity behind the animation potential would be something to behold here. Like, you've seen how crazy building can get in Minecraft and Terraria, and if you put that together in a fight to the death, you'd have to actively try to not make it look really damn cool, and it'd be made even better by the fact that Steve and Terry (That's just what I'm gonna call him in this entry) have large arsenals of crazy weapons that mesh pretty well together, so if you add that to the mix, you'd just have a really fun and creative matchup that should totally be a DB someday.

Roots: The second most hype edition to the Fighters' Pass Vol. 2...so far.

Bets: Steve. They're both equal in speed, but Steve should be able to take every other stat if we give them standard stuff. Yes, Terry has plenty of one-shot hax, but most of those only work on specific monsters or require prep time, both of which wouldn't exactly help him in a fight with a "normal" human, whereas Steve has hax that would work just fine on Terry.

Score name: "Creative Nature"

Thoughts on alternatives: Steve VS Villager is cringe, Steve VS Robloxian is somehow worse, and Steve VS Emmet...actually isn't terrible, but if Emmet's gonna fight someone from Minecraft, it should be Jesse.

Likelihood: 8/10. Most requested matchup for both and Minecraft's not gonna be fading out of relevancy anytime soon, so I think it's safe to assume this'll happen in the future.

Number 49

Mikey VS Grif TN

Michelangelo VS Dexter Grif (Ninja Turtles VS Red vs Blue)

Connections: Wisecracking, orange-clad members of a team of heroes that, while notably skilled, would rather laze around and eat pizza all day. They also have a purple-clad, brainy friend that they constantly bicker with.

Why I want this matchup: Okay, so before I continue, I'm willing to admit that this matchup definitely isn't perfect. The connections, while good, could be better and the animation potential might be a bit tough to work with in some cases. But with that said, I still love this matchup. There's still plenty of potential for a fun episode, and the banter alone is enough to sell me on it considering how well their goofy personalities bounce off each other. So overall, while there might be a few issues here and there, this matchup is just too much fun to pass up to the point where it's one of my most wanted.

Roots: Mikey

Bets: Grif. Mikey is definitely more skilled and possibly faster, but Grif is just too strong and too tough for him to handle.

Score name: "Red VS Turtles"

Thoughts on alternatives: Grif doesn't really have any alternatives, but Mikey certainly does, so let's go over them. Sun Wukong is a solid matchup, but I have a preferred matchup in mind for him. Kai is one of the better TMNT VS Ninjago matchups out there, but it still doesn't interest me too much. And then there's Rash, which feels redundant, and Deku, which confuses me to death.

Likelihood: 6/10. It's gaining popularity and there's no competition on Grif's side, but Mikey has plenty of matchups that could happen, some of which are rivalries, so I think it'd be best to put it at a 6 for now in terms of likeliness.

Number 48

Gru VS Megamind TN

Gru VS Megamind (Illumination VS Dreamworks)

Connections: Originally strived to be the greatest villain in the world, but they eventually had a change of heart, partly because of a girl (or three in Gru's case), and now they're good guys. Bonus connections, they both came out in 2010 at around the same time, they're both bald, and they're both masters of memes.

Why I want this matchup: Simply put, this matchup is fun as f__k. The animation potential is definitely there given both characters' wide arsenals, the music potential is astounding, and the banter would be oh so amazing (That department is kinda carried by Megamind, but Gru deals his fair share as well). So yeah, not much else to say, this would just make for a really entertaining episode.

Roots: Megamind

Bets: Megamind. Gru is certainly a more skilled fighter, but that won't help much when Megamind has far greater stats and hax on his side.

Score name: "Despicable Minds"

Thoughts on alternatives: There is no Easter Bunny, there is no Tooth Fairy, and there are no acceptable alternatives to Gru VS Megamind.

Likelihood: 9/10. Highly requested, no competition, all that jazz.

Number 47

Siegfried VS Ike TN

Siegfried VS Ike (Soul Calibur VS Fire Emblem)

Connections: Badass mercenaries that wield very large swords and were blessed by a goddess who gave them power that helped them defeat a crazed deity.

Why I want this matchup: Soul Calibur returning and Fire Emblem getting repped, need I say more? ...Yeah, I'll say more, what fun is there in reading a one-sentence section? Anyway, this matchup's really cool. The connections may not be the greatest out there, but they're still good enough to make it thematic, and the animation potential this provides slaps like crazy. As for more minor things, the music potential is absolutely godlike and the banter between these two stoic but cocky warriors would be amazing. So yeah, nothing crazy to say here, I just really dig this matchup.

Roots: Ike

Bets: Ike. There's a lot of debate on what Siegfried's power is (It's either moon level, which is below Ike, or star, which is well above), but Ike still blitzes and out-haxxes, so I can see him winning this in most situations.

Score name: "Radiant Calibur"

Thoughts on alternatives: Siegfried VS Cecil and Ike VS Yuri Lowell are nothing special to me, TBH.

Likelihood: 8/10. The matchup itself is quite highly requested and the competition either has a matchup of their own or is obscure AF, so I'd say this one's chances are pretty high.

Number 46

Alucard VS D TN

Alucard VS D (Castlevania VS Vampire Hunter D)

Connections: Dhampirs that inherited the abilities of their vampire fathers, who's also the most powerful in their respective verses, but they decided to use their powers to rid the world of other vampires and supernatural beings. They also both typically use long swords in combat and have lived for centuries, aiding other vampire hunters in their quests. It's also a battle of opposites, as Alucard's world takes place in medieval times whereas D's takes place in the future, as well as Alucard's parents being happily married (Until his mother was killed by people who thought she was a witch, of course), whereas D's...well, you probably don't wanna know what happened with them.

Why I want this matchup: Everything about this matchup just screams "badass." Connections? Well, they do have pretty hardcore personalities and backstories, so that gets a check. Animation potential? Oh yeah, I don't even need to explain why it's so awesome. Banter? F__king yes, please to that. Music potential? I mean, there's Castlevania involved, so you know it's gonna be good. And while we're on that subject, more Castlevania in DB as well as more new franchises is always appreciated.

Roots: Alucard

Bets: D. Apparently, his world's stats are somehow crazier than Castlevania stats.

Score name: "Hunter's Symphony"

Thoughts on alternatives: Remember when I wanted Alucard to fight Dante? That was funny.

Likelihood: 7/10. D is kind of obscure, but this by far the most requested matchup for one of the most overdue CV characters, plus it was a Community Death Battle once, so I'd say it's got a pretty good shot.

Number 45

Hades VS Hades TN

Hades VS Hades (Disney VS Kid Icarus)

Connections: Powerful yet comical interpretations of the Greek Mythos god of the same name that command the army of the underworld under their belt and used an army for world dominance purposes cause villains 101. But both of their plans were thwarted by the hero and a god/goddess (Pit & Palutena and Hercules & Zeus)

Why I want this matchup: So, Adam, I know we've had our differences in the past, but frankly, I am willing to forgive all the hot takes you've ever had just because you introduced me to this absolutely glorious matchup. Like, seriously, this matchup is so damn good! The connections are solid enough, the animation potential is pretty awesome, minus the fact that KI Hades is much taller than Disney Hades, the music potential is incredible, and the banter...Jesus Christ, the banter is by far the best part of this matchup. These two versions of Hades have such similar personalities, and the thought of all the snarky, arrogant exchanges these two would throw at each other makes my mouth water. So yeah, this matchup's just too damn good to pass up.

Roots: Disney Hades

Bets: I guess it depends on what we give these characters. If Disney Hades gets Kingdom Hearts scaling, he should be able to win this. If he doesn't, KI Hades literally squashes him like a bug.

Score name: "Lords of the Underworld"

Thoughts on alternatives: I get the idea behind Loki VS KI Hades, but come on, there's no way in hell I'm passing this up for that, especially when Loki has Kefka.

Likelihood: 5/10. I mean, it's pretty recent, but it's gaining a following and there's little competition, so I'll give it a 50/50 chance.

Number 44

Cat-Noir VS Sun Wukong TN

Cat-Noir VS Sun Wukong (Miraculous VS RWBY)

Connections: Blonde-haired staff wielders with an animal motif who act as romantic interests to a fellow animal-esque fighter and have shown undying loyalty and charisma towards them.

Why I want this matchup: Do I even need to explain why this matchup just oozes fun in every possible way? ...Okay, yeah, I kinda do since that's what you're here for. But anyway, as said, this matchup is just so much fun. Not only is that because of how good the animation potential is given how well their arsenals and acrobatic fighting styles mesh with each other, and not only is it because the music potential is absolutely glorious, but also because the banter potential...NGL, it's a contender for my favorite out of all the matchups here. Adrien and Sun's personalities mesh perfectly with each other and all the snark they could throw out during the fight would make for some amazing and extremely memorable interactions. So yeah, this matchup is just too much fun to not put on this list.

Roots: Sun Wukong

Bets: Cat-Noir. Cataclysm go prrrrr.

Score name: "Black Sun in France"

Thoughts on alternatives: Alright, so about Cat-Noir VS Ann. It's a decent alternative to this. The connections are decent, the animation potential and banter potential are almost as good as they are here, plus I do enjoy Persona reps, but personally, I think Sun is a much more fitting opponent for Adrien, plus Ann has a better opponent herself in that of Lio Fotia. As for Sun's alternatives, the only one I can think of is Michelangelo, which I have mentioned is a solid matchup, but you already know who I prefer for Mikey. "Uhhh, Splat, what about Cat-Noir VS Black Cat?" Oh, right. F__k that matchup. If Felicia's not fighting Catwoman, then what's the point?

Likelihood: 5/10. On one hand, Ann still exists as a popular matchup for Adrien and Lio is still pretty obscure. But on the other hand, both this and Lio VS Ann do have a notable following and Sun doesn't really have any other popular alternatives, so I think I'll give this matchup a 50/50 shot.

Number 43

Katara VS Juvia TN

Katara VS Juvia Lockser (Avatar VS Fairy Tail)

Connections: Secondary female characters dressed in blue that lost their mother at a young age and are known for their impressive water manipulation. They also fall in love with one of the main protagonists and eventually learn blood manipulation and healing abilities.

Why I want this matchup: Katara is easily the most overdue character in Avatar so far and, in my opinion, one of the most overdue cartoon characters in general. Like, we've had the other three elements in Death Battle already, and now all we need is water to finish it off, so obviously, Katara would be the right person for the job, and should she get in, there's no doubt that this is her best matchup, especially since more Fairy Tail reps is neat. The connections are good, the music and banter potential would both be amazing, and the animation potential...god damn, is it good! There would be so many opportunities for some really creative uses of these two's water powers, and seeing them in action would just be so sick. So yeah, this matchup kinda has everything going for it.

Roots: Katara

Bets: Juvia. Simply put, she has better stats and can counter Katara's bloodbending with her Water Body, whereas Katara has no defense against Juvia's Water Lock.

Score name: "Moonlit Lock"

Thoughts on alternatives: I will acknowledge Juvia VS Noelle's existence, but that's all it gets.

Likelihood: 9/10. Katara being one of the most requested cartoon characters for DB and this being her most popular matchup? Check. Black Clover being way more obscure than Avatar? Double check. I think it's safe to say this has a pretty good shot of happening.

Number 42

Eds VS Warners TN

Eds VS Warners (Ed, Edd, n' Eddy VS Animaniacs)

Connections: Mischievous cartoon trios from the 90s...that's it, lol.

Why I want this matchup: I have nothing special to say, this matchup is just so damn good. Sure, the connections are barebones as f__k, but frankly, I don't care. Everything else about this matchup makes up for that Ed-fold. For one, the animation potential is, surprisngly enough, absolutely fantastic. There could be so many crazy, cartoonish shenanigans during the fight that it could put Deadpool VS Mask to shame with how ridiculous the fight could get, plus the music would slap like crazy and the banter would be hilarious. So yeah, while there are plenty of great cartoon fights out there, this is for sure one of my favorites.

Roots: Warners

Bets: Warners. Stets.

Score name: "Totally Ed-Saney"

Thoughts on alternatives: The alternatives these guys have are about as good as your chances of survival if you call Dot "Dotty."

Likelihood: 9/10. Ever since this matchup was introduced, its popularity skyrocketed like crazy, which was helped by Brandon's commissioned score and the Animaniacs reboot bringing Yakko, Wakko, and Dot back into relevance, so it'd honestly be pretty silly if they didn't do it in the future.

Number 41

Akuma VS Raoh TN

Akuma VS Raoh (Street Fighter VS Fist of the North Star)

Connections: Warriors that wield a powerful, demonic martial art and travel the world with the desire to become the greatest fighter around.

Why I want this matchup: So, I'm sure we can all agree that Akuma is in need of a return to DB, right? His last episode was the second episode in the entire series and Shang Tsung was far from his best matchup, so seeing the master of the fist come back with an updated analysis and a new, worthy opponent would be awesome, and while he has plenty of competition, this is for sure my preferred matchup for him. The animation potential is badass as f__k considering their similar destructive movesets mixed in with some awesome hand-to-hand action, the music potential is fantastic, and the dialogue potential...I mean, it's a villain fight. Dialogue potential pretty much writes itself in those. Overall, this is just a really badass matchup that I think deserves more attention.

Roots: Akuma

Bets: I couldn't tell you for sure, TBH. Either Akuma wins via being faster and having the Raging Demon, or Raoh wins on account of being way more powerful and having Hokuto Shinken on his side. It's definitely one of those and I can see either one happening, but I'll let someone with a bit more knowledge on the matchup give me the definitive answer.

Score name: "Fist of the Demon"

Thoughts on alternatives: Before I get to the other alternatives, let me get through the biggest one first: Akuma VS Shao Kahn. While it's not my preferred matchup for Akuma, I still like it a lot and think it gets too much hate. It's honestly a really fun matchup with some incredible music and banter potential, plus Kahn coming back is never not appreciated. So, with that said, why do I prefer this? Well, mainly because I just think Raoh suits Akuma's fighting style better than Kahn does, plus it's a more unique matchup. So in short, Akuma VS Kahn is certainly big dick energy, but I just think Raoh is bigger dick energy. Alright, with that out of the way, let's get to the other alternatives: Akuma VS Garou is boring, Akuma VS Deker is okay, and Akuma VS Noob Saibot...don't ask me why that's a thing, because I couldn't tell you. Oh, and Raoh VS Wamuu is okay too, I guess.

Likelihood: 3/10. Shao Kahn:

Number 40

K

King K. Rool VS Blackbeard (Donkey Kong VS One Piece)

Connections: Greedy, cunning, power-hungry and overweight pirate kings that like to steal fruits that are considered valuable to the main protagonist (DK's bananas and the Devil Fruits). They also used to be a member of a different pirate crew before an accident happened and they formed their own.

Why I want this matchup: I dunno about you, but I love matchups that sound really stupid on paper, but in reality, they work really, really well. That's one reason why I absolutely loved Po VS Iron Fist as a matchup, because it sounded like a dumb idea, but it was actually thematic as f__k and has great animation potential, plus the episode itself turned out to be awesome. But I'm getting off topic, this is another example of a great matchup that sounds dumb. The connections are surprisingly good, the animation potential is absolutely there, the score would be an absolute banger if Shadow of the Deep was anything to go by, and the banter...good lord, the dialogue potential is great. So yeah, not much else here to say, this matchup just slaps.

Roots: K. Rool

Bets: K. Rool. Just give him Star Children scaling via his fights with DK and he kills Blackbeard with a flex of his muscles.

Score name: "Devilish Cacophony"

Thoughts on alternatives: I get the idea behind both K. Rool VS Gruntilda and K. Rool VS Dedede, but Gruntilda has better and Dedede shouldn't return, and this matchup is just too good to pass up anyway. As for Blackbeard, alternatives for him don't exist, they can't hurt you.

Likelihood: 9/10. While we might need to wait a little to get this matchup since Blackbeard could use more feats, this is still an extremely popular matchup with very little competition, not to mention Brandon's commissioned score raised this matchup's popularity even further, so I'd say it's practically all set for DB.

Number 39

Silver VS Trunks TN Ver

Silver VS Trunks (Sonic VS Dragon Ball)

Connections: Secondary psychic heroes that go back in time to try and undo a terrible future, they both lose someone they care deeply about in their futures (Blaze and Gohan respectively), they both gain something from their experiences in the past that helps them save the future, and, of course, they have super forms that make their hair turn golden.

Why I want this matchup: Somewhere, Anthomideus is smiling...Oh wait, there's a gun to my head. Let me explain why I want this to happen. So, I've gone over plenty of times how I personally find this matchup to be the single most overhated matchup out there, even compared to the likes of Rey VS Korra or Blaze VS Starfire. Not only is this an extremely badass matchup, but the points made against it are frankly kinda stupid. The main two I've seen are that it's a stomp and that it's just a retread of Vegeta VS Shadow, both of which I'd like to go over. First off, there's nothing wrong with a matchup being a stomp so long as it has enough merits to make up for it, which this absolutely does. Second, how is this Shageta 2.0? Silver and Trunks fight quite differently from their moody allies, so it's still a fresh idea, not to mention Vegeta VS Shadow got the outcome wrong at the time of its release, so this could be an updated version. So yeah, I like this matchup a lot. The connections are good, the animation potential is awesome, the music potential is juicy as f__k (Remember how good literally every score with a Sonic or Dragon Ball character involved was?), and it brings in new reps from two series that I always love to see in DB. Overall, it's a great matchup.

Roots: Trunks

Bets: Trunks. With or without the multipliers, he steamrolls Silver in terms of stats without much effort.

Score name: "Heroes of Absolution"

Thoughts on alternatives: With the exception of Cable for both characters, most of their alternatives range from mediocre to really terrible. For Silver, Celebi is fine but nothing special, Ness is decent, but he has Frisk, Axl is all kinds of “meh,” and Magneto, Tatsumaki, and Mewtwo make me sick. As for Trunks...yeah, his stuff is way worse. Grovyle is uninteresting, Booster Gold shouldn’t return, Link is just dumb, Lucina has decent connections but is still hot garbo, Shulk is a waste of a matchup that makes me cringe so hard that my nose is now inside my stomach, and Trunks VS Crono...is my least wanted matchup. That’s all I’ll say for it.

Likelihood: 8/10. Despite the competition, this is still a very popular matchup and arguably the most requested for both.

Number 38

Tom and Jerry VS Sylvester and Tweety TN

Tom & Jerry VS Sylvester & Tweety (Hanna Barbera VS Looney Tunes)

Connections: Classic cartoon duos involving a cat trying and failing in the funniest ways possible to try and catch their small and clever prey.

Why I want this matchup: To put it one way, this matchup just screams "fun." Given how creative the antics these characters have gotten into have been, seeing this as a Death Battle and taking into account all the crazy amounts of cartoon violence they can incorporate into the fight would just be such a joy to watch. While it may not be as batshit insane a fight as Eds VS Warners, this matchup still offers plenty to the table to the point where I can't help but love it.

Roots: Tom & Jerry

Bets: I suppose it depends on whether Sylvester & Tweety scale to other Looney Tunes characters. If they do, then Tom & Jerry are screwed many times over. But if they don't, then Tom & Jerry should definitely win this.

Score name: "A Game of Cat, Mouse, and Bird."

Thoughts on alternatives: There are only two notable alternatives to this that I can think of: Tom VS Wile E. Coyote and just having Tom and Sylvester fight without bringing in Jerry and Tweety. I have no problems with either of those, but I feel like this matchup brings out the most in Tom and how ridiculous his cartoonish-ness can get.

Likelihood: 8/10. It's either this, Tom VS Wile, or just Tom VS Sylvester, and if I had to choose which one was most likely to happen, I'd pick this.

Number 37

Izuku VS Gon TN

Izuku Midoriya VS Gon Freecss (My Hero Academia VS Hunter x Hunter)

Connections: Punch-crazy kids dressed in green that wanted to prove themselves to the world that they're capable fighters, so they ended up ruining their bodies a lot which concluded in them gaining incredible power, and they continue to get stronger throughout the course of their show.

Why I want this matchup: Honestly, I don't have much to say here besides "It's a really cool matchup." The connections are pretty good, the dialogue potential is pretty nifty given their similar upbringings and personalities, there's some great animation potential since both fighters are surprisingly more versatile than just "punchy-punchy," the music potential writes itself, and it brings in a new, overdue franchise, which I always love to see.

Roots: Izuku

Bets: Izuku. One 100% Smash and Gon's done for.

Score name: "Jet Set Hunt"

Thoughts on alternatives: Aight, Deku has a lot to talk about, so let's get into it. With the exceptions of Kamala and maybe Akko, most of his matchups are rather forgettable at best and "please kill me" at worst. Miles and Mob don't need to return, Johnny is "meh," K.O is boring as f__k, Archer confuses me, Izuru is...not great, Ruby has Maka and I refuse to accept anything else, Luffy is dumb on many levels, and Rock Lee is quite possibly one of the most unnecessary and redundant matchups out there. As for Gon, we don't talk about Lucas, so let's move on.

Likelihood: 9/10. While we'll definitely need to wait for Deku's appearance on DB, the likelihood of his opponent not being Gon is pretty slim considering how iconic and popular this matchup is.

Number 36

Lucina VS Kitana TN

Lucina VS Kitana (Fire Emblem VS Mortal Kombat)

Connections: Blue-clad warrior princesses whose kingdoms were ravaged by a great evil (Grima and Shao Kahn) and have a history with time-travel. Both have magically-augmented blades as their main weapons, and both played a pivotal role in restoring their homeland to its former glory. Additionally, both have love interests that were at one point on opposing sides (Robin was a human vessel for Grima, and Kitana's first encounter with Liu Kang was in her attempt to assassinate him).

Why I want this matchup: Because it's just a really cool matchup. That's all I have to say, it's just cool as f__k. The connections are better than people give them credit for, the animation potential is pretty solid since there could be some great weapon choreography (Especially if it's 3D), there's some good music potential, it's a unique franchise combo, and while we're on that subject, reps from both series is hype as f__k, especially if it's two high-quality waifus like these two. So yeah, nothing too special to say, I just really like this matchup.

Roots: Lucina

Bets: Lucina. Kitana may be more experienced and versatile, but Lucina's stat advantages and Falchion being OP simply flatten her like a pancake.

Score name: "Awakened Kombat"

Thoughts on alternatives: Lucina VS Trunks is dumb, as stated, Lucina VS Zelda puts me to sleep, Lucina VS Saber is cringe incarnate, and Lucina VS Grovyle is...actually not terrible, but I think Kitana suits her more as an opponent overall. Speaking of, Kitana's alternatives are...(Looks at Gamora, Chun-Li, Mai, and Kasumi)...well, I guess they're not as bad as Lucina's, but they're still less than interesting nonetheless.

Likelihood: 8/10. Lucina is easily one of the more requested Fire Emblem characters for DB, and I'd say it's safe to assume this is her most requested matchup.

Number 35

Rosalina VS Palutena TN

Rosalina VS Palutena (Mario VS Kid Icarus)

Connections: Benevolent goddesses that watch over their respective worlds and help out the main protagonist from a distance rather than interfere themselves (Unless they have to, of course). They also kinda act as mother figures towards something / someone (Rosalina for the Lumas and Palutena for Pit). Oh, and they're both top-tier waifus, can't forget that.

Why I want this matchup: So, from what I've seen in the past, this seems to be the type of matchup that you either love or hate. You either don't like it because you consider it non-thematic and boring (Never really understood the "lack of good connections" complaint, TBH), or you love it because you really like the potential for animation, music (Seriously, the music potential is amazing), and banter. As you can very clearly tell, I'm in the latter camp. I got nothing else to say, so let's move on.

Roots: Rosalina

Bets: Rosalina. Even if her universal reset thing isn't legit, she can still very easily scale to the Star Children for stats. Either way, Palutena's gonna get turned into space dust.

Score name: "Heavenly Starlight"

Thoughts on alternatives: Just thinking about Palutena VS Cetrion almost makes me want to swap bodies with Shin Godzilla. With that out of the way, let’s go over Rosa’s alts. The only half-decent matchup for her that I can think of is Magolor, and while that is an interesting idea, I’d rather have him fight Rei Ryghts. Aside from that, Whis makes me puzzle ‘til my puzzler is sore, Princess Celestia...exists, and Blaze...y’know what, be right back. I'm gonna go get wasted so I can forget that exists.

Likelihood: 9/10. Given the fact that most of the competition has either died down, is obscure, or has other matchups themselves while this is still a powerhouse in terms of requests and popularity, I can definitely see this happening.

Number 34

Rei VS J'onn TN

Sailor Mars VS Martian Manhunter (Sailor Moon VS DC Comics)

Connections: Mars-themed members of a team of universe-protecting heroes.

Why I want this matchup: Oh hey, a Sailor Mars matchup I actually give a damn about. Thanks, Loka. Anyway, have you ever had that instance where you've planned on including a certain matchup throughout the entirety of your most wanted list, but then on the day you plan on covering it, you think "Hey, this matchup seems sexier than this one. I think it's my new preferred." Yeah, that's precisely the case with this matchup. For the longest time, I planned on including a different matchup for Martian Manhunter on this list that I'll get to shortly, but then I thought it over for a few hours and decided this was my preferred. And frankly, why wouldn't I? The connections, while small, are at least tough to replicate, the animation potential is through the roof given the powers and hax these characters have, a score combining the elements of DC and Sailor Moon sounds awesome, and the banter would be neat given Rei's hot headed-ness clashing with J'onn's calmer side. "But Splat, isn't J'onn weak to fire? And isn't this a case of where the arsenals these two have are too different to provide a good fight?" Well, first off, it's been implied multiple times that J'onn has gotten over his fear of fire and it doesn't affect him at all, and second, Martian Manhunter may be one to enjoy melee confrontations, but he's far from exclusively a hand-to-hand fighter. He has plenty of powers that can mesh well with Mars' arsenal, so that gets rid of that issue. So yeah, this is just a fun and unique matchup that I'd like to see happen.

Roots: Martian Manhunter

Bets: J'onn. If the fact that Superman legit fears his strength is to be taken seriously, then I can see him taking out Rei without too much issue.

Score name: "Kasei" (It's the Japanese name for Mars, and seeing as how Sailor Moon takes place in Japan, I think it's the most fitting)

Thoughts on alternatives: Remember when I said I had a different J'onn matchup in mind before I went with this? That would be Silver Surfer. Honestly, it's still an awesome matchup and I'd in no way be opposed to it happening, it's just that I find Rei to be a more unique and slightly more fitting opponent for J'onn. Oh, and while I understand the appeal to J'onn VS Piccolo...I personally have trouble caring any less for it than I do right now. As for Rei's alternatives, Phoenix Ikki doesn't interest me too much, Blaze and Starfire have each other, and Vegeta...anyway...

Likelihood: 1/10. Bold of you to assume they'd do this over Piccolo or Surfer.

Number 33

Darkrai VS Antasma TN

Darkrai VS Antasma (Pokemon VS Mario)

Connections: Nightmare demons from Nintendo RPGs.

Why I want this matchup: Hey, you know Gengar VS King Boo, right? The matchup that makes no sense and only exists to give the characters a quick matchup? Well, let's take that, make it about 1,000 times cooler, and you got this. Like, seriously, this matchup works so well and, at least in my opinion, is definitely the more ideal Pokemon VS Mario matchup. Sure, the connections are kinda weak, but again, they're at least not easily replicated. As for the animation potential, oh yeah, it's definitely there. These two have plenty of cool powers and hax that play rather well off each other, and add the fact that these two can pack a mean punch in terms of AP and you've got yourself a good time. As for music...I mean, it combines Pokemon and Mario & Luigi, plus it could implement the spooky natures of both characters, so how could it not be an absolute banger? Overall, this is a pretty spicy matchup.

Roots: Antasma

Bets: Antasma. Even though the Dark Stone wouldn't be included, Antasma should still hold a pretty heavy stat advantage over Darkrai since he was the one who destroyed it.

Score name: "Pitch-Black Phantasma"

Thoughts on alternatives: Darkrai VS Freddy Krueger is dumb and Antasma VS Kars just reeks of "why" energy.

Likelihood: 8/10. You could argue that neither of these characters have as much priority as others in their series, but this is still a pretty popular matchup and certainly the most requested for both, so I'll be optimistic about its chances.

Number 32

Fox VS Rocket TN

Fox McCloud VS Rocket Raccoon (Star Fox VS Marvel)

Connections: Cocky, charismatic space mammals that work with a team of mercenaries defending the galaxy.

Why I want this matchup: Personally, Fox is one of those characters that you could argue doesn't need to return since his last episode was pretty solid, but I want to see him come back just to see a modern DB take on his personality. Like, Fox is such a cool dude and seeing how well his cool, headstrong, likable personality could be handled in Death Battle nowadays just sounds like a whole lot of fun. And on the other end of the spectrum, Rocket deserves to be in DB and his personality would also be a joy to watch in a fight, and if you ask me, he fits Fox as an opponent to a T. The connections are kinda simple, but they're still solid, and the animation potential...yeah, it's pretty f__king good. Both Fox and Rocket have large arsenals that play off and can counter each other pretty well, plus some hand-to-hand interactions could work for these two as well. The score potential is also juicy as all hell given how the tone of both series meshes pretty well and working in some of the fast-paced, electronic stuff from Star Fox and the classic oldies from the GotG movies just sounds nut-worthy. Oh, and of course the banter potential is nothing less than glorious in this matchup. Their personalities would make for such memorable exchanges during the fight, especially with Fox's more laid-back, fearless, and snarky side clashing with Rocket's hot-tempered, foul-mouthed charisma. In short, there's really no way you couldn't make this a fun episode.

Roots: Both, ever so slightly leaning towards Rocket

Bets: I guess it depends on whether or not Fox is allowed to use his Arwing or not. If he can use it, then he out-stats Rocket with ease. If not, then Rocket's the one doing the stat-stomping.

Score name: "Rocket to the Stars"

Thoughts on alternatives: I never really understood Fox VS Sly. There is potential for a fun fight, but I always thought it was a confusing matchup, plus Sly has a much more fitting opponent in that of Rouge the Bat. As for Rocket, he has Stitch, and I'm just gonna be real, that doesn't sound half as fun as Fox.

Likelihood: 8/10. While Fox may not be as high-demand in requests compared to other potential returnees, he's still decently requested and those who want him to come back usually pit him against Rocket, and vice versa, so despite the competition, I think this has a good shot at happening.

Number 31

Skipper VS Perry TN Ver

Skipper VS Perry (Madagascar VS Phineas & Ferb)

Connections: Semi-aquatic cartoon animals that make themselves appear unassuming to humans, but they're actually extremely skilled secret agents that fight with a team of other secret agent animals (The Penguins and OWCA respectively).

Why I want this matchup: Well, for one, Phineas & Ferb is a masterpiece, and Madagascar is one of my favorite animated movies of all time, so the fact that this works as a franchise combo in the case of this matchup is pretty epic...Well, I guess that's the only notable thing I had to say, the rest should speak for itself. The connections are good, there's plenty of great animation potential given the hand-to-hand choreography and the creative use of Perry's gadgets, the score potential makes me drool, and while the banter potential isn't as strong as other matchups here since Perry doesn't talk, I'm sure Skipper's snark can carry that department well enough. So yeah, this matchup's just too much fun to pass up.

Roots: Both, leaning Perry.

Bets: Perry. I'm admittedly unsure of who has the edge in AP and durability, but I do know Perry blitzes like nobody's business and has a far wider arsenal than Skipper, so I'm pretty confident in saying he should win this.

Score name: "Semi-Aquatic Agents"

Thoughts on alternatives: What alternatives?

Likelihood: 10/10. By itself, it's an extremely popular and heavily requested matchup with no competition, but then along came A Little Wild and Candace Against The Universe to bring both series back into relevancy, so I think I can safely say there's no way they're not doing this matchup.

Number 30

Dedue VS Gamagori TN

Dedue VS Gamagori (Fire Emblem VS Kill la Kill)

Connections: Highly esteemed military students that worship a religious lady, serve as living shields to figures of high authority (Dimitri and Satsuki respectively), and are willing to fight for the ones they've sworn loyalty to until they die (And they nearly did for that purpose at one point). They also look extremely similar and this is also a battle of opposites, as Dedue is calm and cares for his friends whereas Gamagori is usually angry and quick to yell.

Why I want this matchup: Welcome to Episode 2 of "Pit convincing me this is the best matchup for both," and I gotta say, he couldn't have introduced this matchup at a better time than when he did. At the time, I was fresh off of finishing the Blue Lions route in Fire Emblem: Three Houses (Which is the only route I will ever play because it's f__king perfect in every way), and while I was unable to save him from death, I still thought Dedue was a pretty likable character, not to mention he was a very useful unit in battle. And then while I was looking for good Blue Lion matchups besides Ashe VS Ashe and a certain other one you'll see soon enough, Pit came along and introduced this to the world, and I was immediately hooked. In fact, it was part of the reason I watched Kill la Kill, to learn more about Gamagori and to see if his stuff would work well with Dedue's. And I must say, not only do I absolutely love Gamagori as a character, but I'd say this matchup fits to a T. The connections are great, the animation potential is pretty damn good, the music potential combines Three Houses and Kill la Kill, and that's all you need to know, and the contrasting personalities between these two would make for some f__king killer banter potential. "But Splat, don't you think Gamagori's Regalia suits would be too overwhelming for Dedue right off the bat?" Well, maybe, but we don't have to immediately start using them right off the bat. Gamagori is clearly willing and able to fight without his Regalias, so the animation potential wouldn't be hindered that badly at all. So yeah, this has pretty much everything it needs to make for a great episode.

Roots: Both, leaning Dedue

Bets: Gamagori. Supreme Chef Deddy-Pie may be faster and more versatile, but Gamagori's power and durability completely eclipse Dedue's.

Score name: "Shackled Lion"

Thoughts on alternatives: Gamagori VS Seryu is honestly fine, but I definitely wouldn't call it as interesting a matchup as Dedue.

Likelihood: 6/10. It's gained a good-sized following ever since it was introduced, but it's still a pretty recent matchup at the moment, so I think a 6 would be the best place to leave it for now.

Number 29

Reverse Flash VS Goku Black TN

Reverse Flash VS Goku Black (DC Comics VS Dragon Ball)

Connections: Dark, twisted, and narcissistic copies of famous heroes who gave themselves the power and looks of said hero out of an obsession with and hatred for everything they stand for and desire to ruin their lives in as many ways as possible.

Why I want this matchup: To put it one way, this matchup is just so much fun. The animation has the potential to be one of the most fast-paced, batshit insane fights DB has ever done given how versatile and powerful both characters are and because of how well their arsenals and fighting styles mesh, the music would undoubtedly be a banger given how good the last few scores involving a Flash and a Dragon Ball character were, and the banter potential is absolutely golden considering how well their personalities bounce off each other (And because of all the sweet, sweet memes we could get out of it). So yeah, this matchup just oozes fun out of every pathway and the potential is through the roof, especially given how good the Rewind Rumble was.

Roots: "It was me, Barry."

Bets: Reverse Flash. It's Speed Force, I ain't gotta explain shit.

Score name: "Rose Reversal"

Thoughts on alternatives: Honestly, their alternatives are so forgettable that I can't even remember what the alternatives are.

Likelihood: 9/10. By far the most requested matchup for both, the competition being extremely far and few, y'know, the usual.

Number 28

Joker VS Giorno TN Ver

Joker VS Giorno (Persona VS Jojo)

Connections: Former outcasts that serve as the leader of a special team and use a spiritual guardian that gives them great power. They're also the fifth protagonist from their respective series.

Why I want this matchup: And here we have ourselves a rather controversial matchup. Definitely not on the same levels as some other ones like Blaze VS Starfire or Silver VS Trunks, but it's still up there. But personally, while I can see the controversial elements, I still think this is one hell of a spicy matchup. The animation potential is really good and there are plenty of creative liberties to be taken, and the music potential is what I like to call extremely nut-worthy, not only because of how good past fan-made scores were in the past, but also just because of how well both series' incredible tracks mix with each other. "But Splat, Joker has dozens upon dozens of Personas whereas Giorno only has one Stand, wouldn't that kinda undermine Giorno's versatility?" I mean...nobody ever said Joker had to use every single one of his Personas, he could just use the ones with stuff that works the best with Giorno's stuff, which I have no doubts that they'll be able to do. "Okay, but what about GER? Plenty of people don't want the matchup because of how hellish the debate is and they're concerned with how they'd interpret him." Okay, that's fair, but I personally think it would be pretty interesting to see how they interpret G.E.R, so there's also that. So overall, while I can see why some people wouldn't like this matchup...I'm not one of those people. This matchup slaps.

Roots: Joker

Bets: Yes...Just kidding, my bets are on Joker. I know this matchup is extremely debatable and you could make an argument for either one, but I think Joker has a better shot at winning purely because not only does he have far greater stats than Giorno, but he also supposedly has stuff that can UNO Reverse Giorno’s hax, and if that’s the case, then I can say pretty confidently that this fight is more in Joker’s favor.

Score name: "Phantom Requiem"

Thoughts on alternatives: Aight, Joker has plenty of alternatives, so we'll start with him. Velvet is admittedly pretty good, but I think Ragna suits her more as an opponent. Tuxedo Mask is definitely a better Sailor Moon matchup for Joker than Usagi herself, but it's still average, and DC Joker is pain. As for Giorno's alternatives...I dunno, he has Misogi, which is kinda forgettable, IMO.

Likelihood: 10/10. Is there competition? Sure. But this is probably one of the most popular matchups out there that has yet to happen and it's easily the biggest matchup from an iconic rivalry (Not to mention it's the only interesting one, IMO), so I don't have any doubts that they'd do this.

Number 27

Dunban VS Baiken TN

Dunban VS Baiken (Xenoblade VS Guilty Gear)

Connections: Katata wielders who lost the use of their right arm during an attack on their colony that also saw them lose family members. Because of this incident, they seek revenge on the one responsible for the deaths of their loved ones (Metal Face and That Man respectively). This is also a battle of opposites. Dunban is generally the mentor figure to his team, being the calm and collected straight man that always knows the best thing to say in any given situation. Baiken is a lone wolf and a hothead who is solely focused on getting revenge, leading to her often acting brash and cold towards others.

Why I want this matchup: It seems we've come across another matchup that I don't feel like I should like as much as I do. After all, my knowledge on these characters is pretty limited and I don't particularly care for Guilty Gear that much. But still, here I am putting this matchup on the list because not doing that wouldn't sit right, because this matchup is just so damn good. The connections may be simple, but they're still unique in their own right, and the animation potential slaps like crazy given all the badass, fast-paced, and flashy elements they could implement into this fight, plus swordfights are always...(Remembers Blake VS Mikasa)...well, usually a whole lot of fun to watch on Death Battle, and I doubt this is an exception. The score potential...well, it mixes Xenoblade and Guilty Gear, that should speak for itself for how good it is, and the banter potential is absolutely through the roof given how well Dunban's calm, strategic personality clashes with Baiken's hot-headed, snarky lone-wolf attitude. So overall, what's not to love about this matchup, says a guy who's hardly familiar with either character?

Roots: Dunban Donuts

Bets: Baiken. Dunban may be smarter and more versatile, but since he doesn't fully scale to Shulk, Baiken's stats completely eclipses his and then some on account of...well, being a Guilty Gear character.

Score name: "Lily of Sword Valley"

Thoughts on alternatives: Either one VS Shanks is kinda boring and Baiken VS Hakumen isn't Archer, so I have no business with it.

Likelihood: 4/10. It's either this and Archer VS Hakumen or Baiken VS Hakumen, but the latter has the advantage of being a rivalry fight, plus this matchup is still kinda niche at the moment, so I can't say it's all too likely to happen as of right now.

Number 26

Usagi VS Madoka TN

Sailor Moon VS Madoka Kaname (Sailor Moon VS Puella Magi Madoka Magica)

Connections: Formerly unassuming anime schoolgirls that got taught in the ways of magic by a cat-like deity, and now they use their magical powers to protect the Earth alongside other magical girls, plus they get their power by a magic inner artifact (Star Seed and Soul Gem respectively) and by the end of their series, they basically became goddesses thanks to the power of love.

Why I want this matchup: I mean, how could you not like this matchup? The connections are basically flawless, what with their extremely similar backstories and character arcs, the animation would be a magical spectacle and seeing these characters' powers and hax clash would be absolute eye candy, especially once they go into their stronger forms, the music potential is so, so good given that it's a fight between two anime goddesses of magic, and while we're on that subject, doing this matchup would pay a shitload of respect to Usagi and Madoka themselves. As many have stated, this would be pitting someone who popularized the magical girl genre against someone who brought it to a whole new level, so it would just make so much sense to do this matchup with the legacy they both have with their genre. Overall, this matchup is just a whole lot of fun and it would just be too fitting to have it become a real episode.

Roots: Both, leaning Usagi.

Bets: Madoka. Usagi bitch-slaps base Madoka into another dimension, but Ultimate Madoka returns the favor and kills her by existing.

Score name: "Megami"

Thoughts on alternatives: Complete and utter indifference is all I feel towards Usagi VS Seiya. Like, I don't dislike it, it just doesn't really interest me at all, especially compared to a certain other Seiya matchup that I consider a far better time. As for Moon's other alternatives, I could care less for Uzume and Laharl, Doctor Strange doesn't need to return, Kirby...is actually kinda interesting, but it's not Madoka, so there goes that idea, Amaterasu is eh, and Supergirl just confuses me so hard you might as well call me Splat the Confused. And for Madoka's alternatives, Yuki Yuna is painfully average, Nanashi bores me to death, Simon the Digger scrambles my brain cells in confusion, and Madoka VS Reimu can bite barbed wire for all I care.

Likelihood: 7/10. I know some people have given up hope that this'll happen at this point because of Seiya existing, but personally, I'm still holding on. It's still heavily requested, has a legacy, and there's gonna be a new Sailor Moon movie coming out this year as well as a Madoka Magica one, so I still think this has a shot.

Number 25

Ghost Rider VS Spawn TN

Ghost Rider VS Spawn (Marvel VS Image)

Connections: Incredibly powerful and practically unkillable hellspawns who sold their souls to the devil and became his pawns before turning against him. They also both wield similar fiery hellish powers that attacks the victims souls and carry an arsenal of chains and guns into combat.

Why I want this matchup: You thought Alucard VS D screamed "badass?" Well, this is like the Canary Cry to that matchup's Banshee Scream...Weird analogy? Alright, let's move on. So, here we have my favorite matchup for the first member of my "Holy Trinity of Most Wanted DB Returnees," that being Spawn. Kratos definitely wasn't Spawn's best matchup by a long shot and it's been too long since he's shown his glorious face in DB, plus we could really use a cooler demonstration of all the awesome powers and hax he has, and I personally think if he does return, Ghost Rider's his most appealing matchup, and why wouldn't it? The animation potential is one hell of a good time, the music potential is solid AF, the banter potential is another contender for my favorite out of these matchups alongside Noir VS Sun and Azula VS Cinder, and it's pretty debatable, which is always a plus. "But Splat, some people don't really like this matchup anymore. Shouldn't you bring that up?" Yeah, good point. To be honest, I can see why some people don't find this matchup all that interesting these days. After all, Ghost Rider did have an awesome episode with Lobo and he was definitely the Main Man's best matchup, plus Spawn does have a plethora of other opponents at his disposal, so I would understand why some of you would find this matchup pointless or unnecessary...but frankly, I don't care. This matchup is just too badass to pass up and I personally think it would be hella worth it should Johnny come back.

Roots: Ghost Rider

Bets: Honestly, I couldn't tell you myself. I've seen so many arguments for either one winning, whether it being Johnny having better stats via Zarathos and having the Penance Stare or Spawn taking it through his better hax and being superior to base Rider. It's a pretty damn close matchup that I can see going either way, so I'm just gonna flip a coin and tell you who wins via that. Flips coin. Heads, Ghost Rider it is.

Score name: "Hellspawns Ablaze"

Thoughts on alternatives: So, about Spawn VS Demi-Fiend...yeah, you have no idea how hard it was to choose between that or Ghost Rider. It’s without a doubt an awesome matchup that I would not be opposed to seeing whatsoever, as it is definitely a more unique matchup that you could argue plays off Spawn’s stuff better than Johnny does (And it’s definitely a hell of a lot better than Lina VS Demi-Fiend). So, why would I prefer Spawn to fight Ghost Rider instead? Well...admittedly it’s mainly bias-related since Ghost Rider’s one of my favorite comic book anti-heroes...and that’s it, lol. So yeah, I like Spawn VS Demi-Fiend a lot, to the point where I’d be cool with bringing back Spawn for a third episode just to get both, but I just find Ghost Rider to be the more interesting matchup between the two. Alright, that was a lot of talking, good thing the rest of the alternatives aren’t as notable. For Spawn, Venom and Doctor Doom shouldn’t return, Etrigan has better, Ragna is “eh,” Alucard makes me cringe, and Doomguy kills a part of my soul. As for Ghost Rider, Scorpion and Sans are both pretty bad and they both have better, now let’s move on.

Likelihood: 8/10. Ghost Rider's rather recent appearance in DB and Demi-Fiend existing keeps this from getting a higher rating, but this is still an extremely popular and heavily requested matchup, plus there's loads of demand for bringing back Spawn, so I'd definitely be in no way surprised if this were to happen in the future. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if this happened as Spawn's third episode after Demi-Fiend, it's just that strong a matchup.

Number 24

Lightning VS Shulk TN Ver

Lightning VS Shulk (Final Fantasy VS Xenoblade)

Connections: Both were military workers who's homes would be attacked, leading to them losing a loved one and swearing revenge on the race of invaders who did so but also awakening to a laden power that would change their life from then-on. They would recruit several party members under the same cause of ending the invading threat and would even be reunited with the loved one that was killed with some...notable changes relating to another powerful figure in their world. They would later defeat the one behind the invasions on their home and even forgave them given the circumstances leading up to it, only for the god they saw as a benevolent ally to turn out to be a manipulator behind the scenes that even sought to use Shulk and Lightning as tools for their end goals, with both of their stories ending in Shulk and Lightning murdering the shit out of those manipulative f__kers and loosening their grip on humanity to create a peaceful world where gods aren't needed.

Why I want this matchup: Alright, I don't really have much to say here besides "It's a really f__king cool matchup." The animation potential is all kinds of spicy considering all the cool powers and hax they have as well as adding in a bit of universe busting to add to the craziness, the banter potential is pretty neat, and the music potential is oh so juicy. Both FFXIII and Xenoblade Chronicles have such amazing soundtracks that would work perfectly with each other and make the fight even more of a joy to watch. So yeah, this matchup's just really damn good.

Roots: Minat-I mean Monado Boy.

Bets: Shulk. It's pretty close, but Shulk's slightly better power and hax as well as his precognition should give him the upper hand more often than not.

Score name: "XIII Years Ahead"

Thoughts on alternatives: Shulk VS Trunks is...better than Crono, but it still brings me great pain to think about, so let's move on. Oh yeah, and Sora doesn't need to return, and if he does, he has better.

Likelihood: 10/10. It's requested up the ass and there's no competition that doesn't have competition itself, so it's gotta happen eventually.

Number 23

Doomsday VS 682 TN

Doomsday VS SCP-682 (DC Comics VS SCP Foundation)

Connections: Hideous, destructive monsters that crash-landed on Earth and can't be killed due to adapting to what took them out in the past. They also hate just about everything that exists.

Why I want this matchup: Loka, if I was the king of England, I would knight you for redeeming this matchup and bringing it into the light. Seriously, as someone who's always been a fan of this matchup, the fact that you were able to disprove its flaws and show people just how great an idea this is honestly means a lot to me. But maybe I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, let me give you readers a story of how Doomsday VS 682 returned to grace. So, a while back (And by that I mean a few months ago), people used to hate this matchup for a variety of reasons. They thought it was a stomp and had no practicality since they thought the SCP canon could get changed with the snap of a finger, which could mess with 682's gimmick and ruin the matchup. However, Loka came along and made this blog, and that seemed to change a lot of people's minds and show them the truth. And of course, for someone who already liked the matchup despite its supposed issues, it made me like the matchup even more, and I don't see any reason why I wouldn't. The connections are really good, the animation potential is just yes and could easily put Doomsday's last fight to shame, the music potential...come on, how could it not be glorious, there's some surprisingly decent banter potential given 682's...682-ness and the fact that Doomsday has been shown to be able to talk in some continuities (Remember "Superman. I'm here to kill you. Is this a bad time?"), and best of all, it's debatable as hell and has plenty of practicality to it! So yeah, this matchup is pretty much perfect, TBH.

Roots: Doomsday

Bets: Stalemate. Yeah, try as they might, neither of these two will be able to kill each other. Here's Loka's take on the verdict since he explained it way better than I possibly could.

Score name: "Object Class: Doomsday"

Thoughts on alternatives: The only alternative I can think of for either one is 682 VS Wendy’s Employee, which is definitely solid...but come on, I’m not passing this up for the world.

Likelihood: 9/10. This matchup's popularity ain't slowing down any time soon and the crew themselves thinks it's cool (Including Luis), so there's practically nothing stopping this from happening, besides maybe the few people who are still a bit concerned about SCP in DB.

Number 22

Asura VS Atrocitus TN

Asura VS Atrocitus (Asura's Wrath VS DC Comics)

Connections: Godlike, rage-fueled behemoths that seek revenge against emotion-themed gods for something that happened to their loved ones.

Why I want this matchup: Because Asura is overdue as f__k and this is his best matchup, need I say more? ...Okay, I've used that joke too much, you obviously know I'm gonna say more. Anyway, this matchup is awesome. The connections may not be the greatest ever, but they're still workable and solid, and as you could guess, everything else about the matchup makes up for it a thousand-fold. The animation potential is on par with Hulk VS Broly in terms of raw destructive and chaotic capability on a cosmic scale, but it could be even more improved on given how well Asura's multiple forms would mesh with Atrocitus' constructs. The music potential is also a killer since DB has shown that cosmic fights can usually provide an awesome score. Overall, this matchup is just so damn cool and has the potential to be one of the biggest spectacles they've ever given us.

Roots: Both, leaning Atrocitus

Bets: Atrocitus. Lantern scaling be like:

Score name: "Atrocious Wrath"

Thoughts on alternatives: You ever had that matchup that you really want to like and feel like it has everything going for it...except animation potential? Yeah, that’s precisely how I feel towards Kratos VS Asura. Like, it just sounds so damn cool on paper and it has so many merits, but sadly, it just doesn’t work as an animation given how different their fighting styles are and how it’d be unfaithful to at least one of the characters no matter what you do. Oh, and Atrocitus VS Red Hulk is pretty sleep-inducing, Hulk doesn't need to return, and I never really liked Asura VS Broly, TBH.

Likelihood: 5/10. It's either this or Kratos, and I couldn't tell you which one has a significant advantage over the other in terms of likeliness.

Number 21

Galactus VS Unicron TN Ver

Galactus VS Unicron (Marvel VS Transformers)

Connections: Enormous, godlike beings that have existed since the dawn of time and enjoy eating planets.

Why I want this matchup: It's f__king Galactus VS Unicron, do I really need to explain why Galactus VS Unicron is this high on the list? Seriously, that's not even a joke! Everyone knows and loves this matchup for such obvious reasons that have been explained a hundred times over, so I honestly doubt I need to go into extreme detail for why this matchup kicks all kinds of ass...but I will anyway. This matchup is perfect season finale material. It easily has the potential to be one of the most destructive, most flat-out insane, and most memorable episodes DB has ever done. There could be planets, galaxies, maybe even universes crumbling to dust as these two titans fight, and it would just be such a damn joy to watch. The music potential also speaks for itself for how good it is considering it's a battle between two giant, planet-eating gods, so I doubt there wouldn't be a killer score for it. So yeah, given how hyped up this matchup has been for almost a decade, there's no reason for them not to go as all-out as humanly possible for its inevitable episode, and I love it for that.

Roots: Galactus

Bets: Galactus. Simply put, he has better stats and can negate the Unicron Cycle with the Ultimate Nullifier.

Score name: "Galactic Chaos"

Thoughts on alternatives: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhckuhUxcgA

Likelihood: 10/10. I mean, it's confirmed, so...

Number 20

Finn and Jake VS Mordecai and Rigby TN

Finn & Jake VS Mordecai & Rigby (Adventure Time VS Regular Show)

Connections: Cartoon Network's signature duos of best friends that like to slack around, but also aren't afraid to fight evil.

Why I want this matchup: Simply put, this matchup's just so good. The connections may not be the greatest ever, but they still work, and, you guessed it, everything else the matchup has to offer makes up for it with no issue whatsoever. The animation potential is awesome given all the cartoonish shenanigans that could happen and how well these characters' arsenals mesh with each other, the score potential is pretty great, and the banter potential is f__king amazing, even though it's mostly carried by Mordecai & Rigby. So yeah, nothing special here to say, I just f__king love this matchup.

Roots: Mordecai & Rigby

Bets: Mordecai & Rigby. Finn & Jake may be more experienced, but Mordo & Rigs dunk on them in stats and have better hax to boot.

Score name: "Regular Adventure"

Thoughts on alternatives: Finn VS Toon Link is boring, Jake VS Plastic Man is a no-no, Mordecai VS Scott Pilgrim isn't Kazuma, so there goes that, and Rigby doesn't have any alternatives, at least not any good ones. Oh, and Finn & Jake VS Seryu & Koro is lame as f__k.

Likelihood: 9/10. Seryu & Koro keep this from being a flat-out 10, but given its popularity and mainstream appeal and the lack of competition on Mordecai & Rigby's side, there's hardly anything keeping this from happening.

Number 19

Him VS Aku TN

Him VS Aku (Powerpuff Girls VS Samurai Jack)

Connections: Cartoon Network's signature dark lords of ultimate evil known for their deadly shape-shifting powers, as well as loving chaos and destruction.

Why I want this matchup: Speaking of Cartoon Network matchups with potential so out the ass that it turns the scrotum inside out...I'm gonna stop myself right there before I gross myself out even more. Anyway, let's talk about this matchup...it's f__king amazing. It takes everything I love about villain matchups and magnifies them up to 20. Animation potential? Well, with all the shape-shifting, size-enhancing, and other crazy shit that could happen, it's definitely there. Music pote...I couldn't even finish that sentence without getting so hyped up I almost passed out. Banter potential? God, it's just so damn good!!! Both fighters' sadistic and ruthless natures go perfectly with each other and the dialogue between the two would just be the best f__king thing. Sure, the connections are so-so and it's kinda stompy, but with everything else this matchup has going for it, I can overlook that for days.

Roots: Both, leaning Aku

Bets: Him. Stets and hex.

Score name: "Infernal Darkness"

Thoughts on alternatives: I'd like Aku VS Ganondorf a lot more if it weren't for the fact that Ganondorf is anything but in need of a return after how spicy his last episode was.

Likelihood: 6/10. You see, this is in an odd situation in which it's not really a super popular matchup as far as I know, but on the other hand, there's no competition getting in the way, so I'll be generous and give it a decent shot of happening.

Number 18

Liu Kang VS Jago TN Ver

Liu Kang VS Jago (Mortal Kombat VS Killer Instinct)

Connections: Warrior monks from fighting games that were abandoned as kids and trained in the ways of Chinese martial arts, they both became the top student and were destined to fight a great evil by defeating them in a tournament, and they both represent the Chinese myth of the Balance of Power of The Tiger VS The Dragon.

Why I want this matchup: And here we have my most wanted fighting game matchup. Sure, it's a rather generic pick, but I don't care because it's cool as hell. The animation potential is fantastic given how badass the hand-to-hand choreography would look in 3D, plus the arsenals these two have mesh greatly with each other, plus it could get even more hype once they go into their strongest forms. The music potential is also incredible and while the banter potential isn't particularly strong, that's fine because this is a matchup that should focus more on the fighting than the dialogue. Also, Mortal Kombat reps are always hype.

Roots: Liu Kang

Bets: Jago. Apparently, he got a star-level buff that lets him outstat even Fire God Liu Kang, so he should definitely be able to win this now.

Score name: "Dragon's Instinct"

Thoughts on alternatives: Iron Fist or Ryu returning after how masterful their last fights were is the definition of unnecessary, moving on.

Likelihood: 10/10. Now that all the competition is taken while this is still an incredibly popular matchup, there's no way this isn't happening.

Number 17

Adam VS Apocalypse TN

Black Adam VS Apocalypse (DC VS Marvel)

Connections: Godly supervillains that started off as slaves in a fictional part of Ancient Egypt, but after attaining incredible power (And waking up after getting sealed away for about 1,000 years), they became powerful conquerors that sought to take over the world.

Why I want this matchup: God, it really took us this long to get to another Marvel VS DC matchup? Well, we've only got two of them left including this, so let's get to talking about this one. To put it simply, it's just an amazing matchup. The connections are good, the animation potential is spectacular, both with the arsenals meshing well and with the massive-scale destruction it could cause, the dialogue potential is everything you'd love in a villain matchup, as is the music potential, and it's very debatable, which is always appreciated in a Marvel VS DC matchup. So yeah, nothing crazy from me here, this is just a kickass matchup.

Roots: Black "The Rock" Adam

Bets: Black Adam. As said, it's a really close fight and I wouldn't be surprised if Apocalypse won, but Adam should have slightly better stats and can counter some of Apocalypse's hax, so personally, I can see him winning more often than not.

Score name: "Egypt's Apocalypse"

Thoughts on alternatives: Black Adam VS Doctor Doom and Apocalypse VS Beerus just reek of "WTF" energy and Adam VS Vegeta would be more suitable for anything but DB.

Likelihood: 10/10. This is for sure one of the biggest Marvel VS DC matchups that have yet to happen and given the fact that the competition is all taken, this is basically guaranteed to happen...unless Dangerous' joke from the comment section becomes a reality and I ask Heihachi to throw me off the Grand Canyon.

Number 16

Rayquaza VS Bahamut TN

Rayquaza VS Bahamut (Pokemon VS Final Fantasy)

Connections: Draconic deities that are considered some of the strongest amongst a species of monsters that can be used as summons, they both lend their power to those they consider worthy, and they both have something to do with meteors (Rayquaza destroyed one in one of the Mystery Dungeon games whereas Bahamut emerged from a meteor, IIRC).

Why I want this matchup: Okay, I don't really have an opening statement for this entry, let's just get into talking about just how damn awesome this matchup is, starting with the animation potential. Well, I could just say that it's a fight between two dragon gods and that could be enough, but you know me, of course I'm gonna go into more detail of why the animation potential slaps like crazy. To start, the raw destruction that could happen during the fight would make for an absolute spectacle, and combining that with both characters' large arsenals of explosive and ridiculous projectiles and Rayquaza's Mega form would make for a fight that could potentially be on par with Beerus VS Galaxia with how amazingly destructive it could be, and I would be hella down for every second of it. "But Splat, wouldn't their body designs make any melee confrontation look awkward, therefore making it a bit difficult for the fight to work?" ...Okay, I won't lie, that's a good point. Similar to another Rayquaza matchup that I hate, these two can't really do any fisticuffs given the fact that their body designs are too different. But honestly, I think the rest of their arsenals and the destructive potential the matchup has is more than enough to make up for that. Oh yeah, and the music potential is f__king incredible as well, which makes sense given the franchise combo. So overall, this is just an incredibly badass matchup that could easily be a contender for one of DB's best episodes should it happen.

Roots: Ray-Ray

Bets: Oooh, this is a tough one. IMO, the outcome depends on which Bahamut you use in the episode since there's a lot of them to choose from with differing power levels in each one. The strongest version of Bahamut kills Rayquaza by flipping him off whereas some of the weaker versions get owned by the Sky High Pokemon. But if we were to do what Pit did and give Bahamut the same treatment as Leonardo and give him "standard composition" as I like to call it, then I'd say Rayquaza wins by just a hair via taking the stat trinity, though he's gonna have to go as all-out as possible if he wants that W.

Score name: "Heir to the Skies"

Thoughts on alternatives: Ridley VS Rayquaza and Bahamut VS Godzilla are kinda cringe, bro.

Likelihood: 7/10. Ever since it was introduced, its popularity has kinda skyrocketed to the point where it surpassed Ridley as Ray-Ray's most popular opponent, and while Bahamut isn't quite as requested as other FF characters, this is still easily the most popular matchup for him, so I think this has a pretty good shot at happening.

Number 15

Spring Man VS Inkling TN

Spring Man VS Inkling (ARMS VS Splatoon)

Connections: Modern Nintendo underdogs from more recently popular games filled with colorful characters, they're both human hybrids (Spring Man is cybernetic whereas Inkling is part squid), they both have a wide arsenal of cartoonish weapons, they both fight for sport, and in the case of Inkling Boy, whom will be used here, they both have weird blue hair. Oh, and they also share a spunky, energetic, action-loving personality.

Why I want this matchup: It's a good Inkling matchup, therefore I like it...alright, you know I'm gonna elaborate on that. So, as much as I want Inkling in Death Battle, I found it rather difficult to find an opponent that I actually liked. But then I came across Spring Man and figured, "Hey, that sounds kinda cool." And then I looked more into the connections and other merits it has, and here it is now at the start of the top friggin' 15 of my most wanted. So to start, the connections are honestly really good, at least compared to most of Inkling's other matchups. The vibes they give off and their personalities and character traits are oddly very similar, so there's one plus. Second is the animation potential, and god damn is it good! Seeing Spring Man's large and varied collection of ARMS clashing with the shitload of weapons Inkling has would honestly make for a really fun and creative fight. "But Splat, wouldn't their fighting styles clash, which would make the fight difficult to work with?" Ehhh, not really. Spring Man is capable of fighting at close or long range given, y'know, he has extendable arms, and Inkling is way more than just a shooter. He has plenty of close range weapons he could use, like his Inkbrush or Splat Roller, plus let's also not forget that he hits people with his gun in Smash, so that helps. And as for the music potential...Geez, I almost passed out from getting hyped up again. Combining the fast-paced rock from Splatoon with the more jazzy tones from ARMS would make for a f__king magnificent score. So overall, this matchup just has all the makings for a fantastic episode, plus more unique Nintendo reps are always appreciated by me.

Roots: Inkling, because of course.

Bets: Inkling. Better stats, way more versatility, and the fact that Spring Man can't really get rid of the ink once Inkling gets it on the ground means he ain't losing control of the battlefield.

Score name: "Spring n' Splat"

Thoughts on alternatives: For Spring Man, Little Mac has better, Atom (Real Steel, not DC) isn’t too interesting to me, and Mega Man’s Spring Man is kinda silly. As for Inkling, he has plenty of alternatives to talk about, and while they’re mostly decent, they each have an issue to them. Ty is cool, but not as fun or interesting as this, IMO, Ika makes sense, but it’s still kinda boring, Berecca is another fun idea, but also not as interesting as this, and De Blob...honestly, De Blob puts me right the f__k to sleep and I have trouble seeing the appeal to it. But still, at least none of these are as god-awful as Inkling VS Peashooter, which makes me want to watch this video the whole way through just so it doesn’t happen.

Likelihood: 6/10. It's one of the more popular Inkling matchups out there, but there's still plenty of popular competition that keeps this at a 6 for now.

Number 14

Shazam VS Pegasus TN

Shazam VS Pegasus Seiya (DC Comics VS Saint Seiya)

Connections: Kids that were granted amazing power by the gods because of their pure heart and strong sense of justice, so now they're Greek mythology-based heroes that fight with similarly powerful allies that they consider family to protect the universe from all sorts of threats.

Why I want this matchup: So, I dunno if this is an unpopular opinion, but I think Shazam could use a return to Death Battle. While it made sense to do Carol at the time that they did, it was still far from Shazam's best matchup and they definitely could've done a lot more with him, and that's where Pegasus Seiya comes into play. The connections are pretty good, the banter potential is excellent, the music potential...I mean, we've had one good track with Shazam involved, so I'm sure we can pull out another banger with this, and the animation potential is absolutely phenomenal given all the crazy, fast-paced, flashy, and completely chaotic action it could pack into one fight. Oh yeah, and Saint Seiya getting repped is cool too given how overdue that series is.

Roots: Shazam

Bets: Pegasus. This is definitely far from a stomp, but Seiya's greater speed and ridiculous hax are definitely enough to take Shazam down.

Score name: "Marvelous Saints"

Thoughts on alternatives: I've already mentioned how ridiculously indifferent I am towards Usagi VS Seiya, so let's get to some different alternatives. For Shazam, He-Man doesn't need to return and Thor...But why? Why would you do that? Why would you do any of that? For Pegasus, Goku returning is the dictionary definition of cringe and unnecessary, Hercules is just bad, and what the heck even is Seiya VS He-Man?

Likelihood: 5/10. Usagi provides some pretty heavy competition for Seiya, but given the rise in popularity of both this and Usagi VS Madoka, I think it's safe to at least give this a 50/50 shot for the time being.

Number 13

Zero VS Meta Knight TN

Zero VS Meta Knight (Mega Man VS Kirby)

Connections: Stern and stoic video game swordsmen that started off as villains in some way, but they soon became allies and friendly rivals to the main protagonist (Who has the ability to copy abilities). They also served in large-scale wars, are some of the oldest characters in their series, and are some of the last of their kind (Wily's creations and the Star Warriors).

Why I want this matchup: Because Meta Knight. I don't care about this matchup's flaws, I just want Meta Knight in Death Battle and this is the only remotely interesting matchup for him. Now, before I get to talking about why I want this, I should probably address some of the flaws. First off, I will admit that the connections aren't exactly the strongest, as some of them are kinda plain or stretchy. But TBH, the connections are good enough for me and they're definitely way better than people give them credit for. Second issue is that Zero isn't in a huge rush to return given how Metal Sonic was a pretty solid matchup with a decent enough episode...but still, I don't care. Seeing both characters in DB (Again in Zero's case) would be awesome as f__k, especially if it's against each other, and now it's time to explain why this matchup is so good. First off, the animation potential is epic to say the least. It has the potential to be one of the most fast-paced and fun episodes they've done and seeing Zero's large arsenal clash with Meta Knight's power would be awesome. Second, the music potential needs no introduction. It's a combination of Mega Man X and Kirby, so there's nothing stopping it from being a killer score. The banter potential also isn't half-bad, as while neither of them are super talkative, I'm sure they'd still have plenty of badass lines to spout at each other during the fight. So overall, while this matchup does have its issues, they're minor enough that I can still consider this one of my most wanted.

Roots: Meta Knight

Bets: Meta Knight. Zero may be far more versatile, but Meta Knight's stats completely blow his out of the water.

Score name: "Maverick Unmasked"

Thoughts on alternatives: Zero VS Vision is omega cringe and Zero VS Aigis, while good, kinda feels like a throwaway considering how damn good Aigis VS Noel is. As for Meta Knight's alternatives...yeah, strap in, because I have a lot to say. I used to be the only person on the Wiki stanning for Yoda VS Meta Knight since I personally thought it had lots of potential and I never really understood why people hated it, but nowadays...yeah, that matchup's pretty pointless considering how damn near perfect Yoda's last episode was, so these days, that matchup gets a hard pass from me. As for his other alternatives, Frog (Chrono Trigger) is fine, Sirius is neat, Riku makes no sense and has Cecil, Magma Defender is boring as f__k, Piccolo confuses me, Geno and Black Mage...exist, and giving Shadow a fourth appearance to fight Meta Knight (Or Zero outside of DBX) is somehow even more pointless than Goku VS Superman 3.

Likelihood: 8/10. Despite the loads of competition and the crew having mixed feelings on this matchup, this is still popular as hell and arguably one of the longest requested matchups to date, so I'd say there's still a pretty good shot for this to happen.

Number 12

Saitama VS Popeye TN Ver

Saitama VS Popeye (One Punch Man VS Popeye the Sailor)

Connections: Bald guys that may first seem like Average Joes at first, but they're well known for taking out their enemies with a single punch.

Why I want this matchup: Saitama, Saitama, Saitama...you've had it rough in the VS community, haven't you. You've been pit against some of the most broken characters in fiction purely based off your name and a lot of your matchups go against your core character, which sucks. But even with that to remember, let's not forget that Saitama does have a handful of solid matchups, and IMO, Popeye is the chief among them. The connections are...admittedly less than stellar, but they're still good enough to provide a decent theme, and, say it with me, everything else the matchup offers makes up for it greatly. To start, the animation potential is absolutely glorious. Seeing these two chads going all out in a brawl of fisticuffs would be loads of fun to watch, especially with the ridiculous amount of escalation the fight could take, not to mention I would love to see Saitama's reaction to the fact that a goofy cartoon sailor is putting up a fight worth his time. The music potential is pretty great too and the banter potential is definitely there, especially with Popeye wondering why Saitama would get so excited that he finally found a worthy opponent. So overall, this seemingly goofy matchup has plenty of things going for it and would make for one hell of an episode.

Roots: Both, leaning Popeye

Bets: Popeye. Name an advantage and it's more than likely that Popeye has it. That's what happens when you eat your vegetables, kids.

Score name: "One Punch Sailor"

Thoughts on alternatives: Aight, Saitama has a lot to go through, so let’s get to it. Squirrel Girl is nothing special, Captain Underpants is awesome, but he has better, IMO, Invincible is good, but not as good as Gohan, Korosensei is pretty boring, Krillin is average, Axe Cop has Bobobo, Azrael is...a thing, and both Goku and Superman kill a part of my soul. As for Popeye, he has Asterix, which is pretty solid, but I feel it wouldn’t be as fun as Saitama, and the less I mention Popeye VS Spongebob, the better.

Likelihood: 8/10. Despite all the competition, this is most likely both characters' most popular matchup.

Number 11

Frieza VS Megatron TN Ver

Frieza VS Megatron (Dragon Ball VS Transformers)

Connections: Arrogant alien warlords in a purple & silver attire that are capable of accomplishing things through deception or brute force. They're also constantly fighting a team of alien heroes that they hate (Saiyans and Autobots respectively) to determine the fate of the Earth, plus they were responsible for the destruction of an alien planet, but that ended up creating the thing they hate the most.

Why I want this matchup: Alright, I've gone a good while without being threatened by pitchforks, let's see if...*turns around to see people with pitchforks.* Okay, let me explain.

Roots: Megatron

Bets: Megatron. As someone who both somewhat buys the DB multipliers and thinks the IDW Transformers nerfs are complete BS, I will say that this is definitely a pretty close fight, but Megatron's hax absolutely tear Frieza a new one, especially since I hear he has anti-matter manipulation.

Score name: "Golden Deception"

Thoughts on alternatives: None of Frieza's alternatives are even worth mentioning, but Megatron's definitely are. Vilgax is thematic, but it's also really lame and a waste for both, and Makuta Teri-zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Likelihood: 9/10. The fact that it's losing some of its fans as of late keeps it from being a flat-out 10, but recent as it is, it's still an extremely iconic and incredibly popular matchup featuring two of the biggest villains in animation history, so I can definitely still see this happening.
