Exhibition
In space, a Saiyan Pod hurtles towards and crashes into the doors of a Kryptonian ship, leaving a hole that causes the two guards in front of it to be sucked into the vacuum of space, screaming as they do so. The door of the Pod then opens, before its passenger climbs out, being none other than Vegeta, who taunts the Kryptonians he just killed.
Vegeta: Don't forget to send a postcard, bitches.
Someone is heard maniacally laughing in front of him, which the camera pans over to reveal to be General Zod.
Zod: Welcome.
Having assessed the threat in front of him, Vegeta prepares for battle.
Vegeta: Hmph, you look important. Let your prisoner go, or I will...
Mid-speech, he transforms into Super Saiyan Blue.
Vegeta: ...BLAST YOU INTO OBLIVION!
Zod, unperturbed, faces down his new opponent with malicious intent.
Zod: Mm, I think I'll add you to my collection.
In the blink of an eye, Zod suddenly charges towards Vegeta, the two warriors colliding their fists as they begin their fight.
After holding their clashed fists together for a while, the two then throw a flurry of punches at each other, perfectly blocking each other until knocks Zod away with a mighty punch. Vegeta charges forward to follow up on this attack with a kick, which Zod blocks. He attempts several more attacks, but Zod blocks them all before landing a few hits on Vegeta. Opting for a different strategy, Vegeta fires a rapid barrage of Ki Blasts with his Locura Gun, which Zod initially dodges.
Zod: Not worth the effort.
He then jumps in the air, causing him to be hit by two Ki Blasts before falling back to the ground. As soon as he does, Vegeta continues his melee assault on him, though once again, Zod manages to dodge or deflect most of his attacks, before landing a few hits on Vegeta and throwing him out into space. Zod quickly catches up to him and grabs him, and the two rapidly clash against each other mid-air, before Zod punches Vegeta back inside.
Zod: What power. And to think, you were beginning to bore me.
Vegeta responds by placing his hands together and firing an attack.
Vegeta: Then watch this, asshole. FINAL... FLAAAAAASH!
Vegeta fires the beam at Zod, piercing straight through the ship and destroying the Moon. Believing his opponent to be defeated, Vegeta catches a breath.
Vegeta: Who was that clown?
However, Zod is still alive and floating in space, seemingly unharmed from Vegeta's attack as he answers his opponent's question.
Zod: I am Zod. I win.
His eyes then glow bright red as Vegeta looks shocked to see him still alive...
Vegeta: What?!
...before Zod fires his heat vision, hitting Vegeta a few times and sending him flying into another room.
Zod: I always win!
As Vegeta stands up he hears a familiar voice.
???: Dad! Help!
Shocked, Vegeta looks over to see his own son Trunks, held in a special containment. Zod then appears before his opponent with sarcastic malice.
Zod: How delightful. Family reunited! There's only one way to save his life: Kneel before Zod!
Zod points down at the ground, demanding Vegeta to kneel. However, Vegeta is unamused, the air around him showing his visible rage.
Vegeta: That's my son...
Vegeta then starts angrily punching Zod over and over again as he reminds him who his prisoner is.
Vegeta: THAT'S! MY! SON! YOU! GOD! DAMN! BAS! TARD!
Vegeta then delivers one devastating final blow to his face, knocking Zod into the ground. He then fires a Ki Blast that destroys some machinery, causing the device holding his son to release him, before quickly going over to catch his son just before he's about to hit the ground. Zod then recovers from Vegeta's attack, his face bloodied and with a black eye.
Zod: Fool... Accept your place... You are nothing! I am SUPERIOR!
Vegeta just simply ignores his opponents remarks as he asks one simple question to his newly freed son.
Vegeta: Ready?
Trunks: Ready!
With that, the two ready their final attack to finish off Zod.
Vegeta and Trunks: Galick Gun... FIREEE!!!
Their two beams fly towards Zod and merge into one as he makes one final remark as to who he is.
Zod: I... am... ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!
Unable to do anything, Zod gets completely obliterated from the father-son Galick Gun, leaving no trace of his body. Vegeta and Trunks proceed to celebrate their victory while looking at the stars through the hole in the ship they just made.
Trunks: Dad, you're the best.
Vegeta: You bet I am.
Trivia
Production
- The connections between Vegeta and Zod are that they are both egotistical high-ranking alien warriors who are amongst the survivors of an alien race (Saiyans and Kryptonians, respectively) and invaded Earth for their own villainous goals, but were stopped by heroes of the same race (Goku and Superman, respectively), who would go on to become their arch-enemies. Both sought to redeem their race in some way (Vegeta sought to defeat Frieza to avenge the Saiyans, while Zod seeks to create a new Krypton).
- This is also a battle of opposites, as while Vegeta eventually reformed and now protects Earth alongside his former enemy, Zod continues to invade it and battle against his enemy.
- The captions for this episode actually feature some comical changes to both combatants names, Like calling Zod "Dead Man" when it's shown he captured Trunks and calling Vegeta "World's Best Dad" after his victory over Zod and saving his son. This is likely due to the captions being fanmade.
