Yang VS Bakugo is the 84th episode of DBX, featuring Yang Xiao Long from the RWBY series and Katsuki Bakugo from the My Hero Academia series in a battle between hot-headed explosive heroes.
Interlude
The scene opens with the lights flickering on in the arena and the camera panning over to reveal the large crowd of people watching the show. Ringmaster makes his appearance as he steps onto the main stage and walks towards his microphone which he then grabs in order to properly introduce himself to his audience.
Ringmaster: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to MY arena where there's no rules, no research, only bloodshed! I am Ringmaster, your announcer, your host extraordinaire for this extravaganza, and let me welcome you to the EXHIBITION! In today's match, we have TWO hot-headed heavy hitters! That's a lot of alliteration. In this corner, we have the overly happy, not so cool-headed, one-armed warrior, Yang Xiao LONG! And, in the other corner, we have the bully, the questionable hero with an explosive personality, BAKUGO! Now, Let's take a look at what makes these two so feisty!
Comparison
Ringmaster: Basically, Yang's... well, complicated. But her main interests are hanging out with friends and punching things. Like, a lot.
We see an animation of Ringmaster punching the ground with Yang's Ember Celica.
And going into a BERSERKER RAGE! And getting stronger every time she's hit. It's kind of a double-edged sword though; the more she gets hurt, the more her punches hurt. On the other grenade hand, Bakugo is a child prodigy gone wrong! His explosive abilities have inflated his ego beyond normal bounds!
We see an animation of a hot-air balloon with Bakugo's face deflating on-screen.
He's a hot-headed balloon that does way more than exploding. No, no, this boy's personality and abilities are as hot as metal seats on a scorching summer day that explode! So, scorching and explosive, look!
Ringmaster imitates explosion sounds.
Ringmaster: Fire and explosion, that's our shtick, okay? Now, who will win? Who has more pent-up rage? Who has a better backstory? It's time to find out. So, without further ado, let the exhibition... BEGIN!!!
Exhibition
The scene opens to reveal a stadium with a large crowd cheering. It then changes to reveal a large screen in which images pf Yang and Bakugo's faces are shown, with the word "VS" in between them. The scene changes once more to show Yang walking towards her opponent and taking on a defensive stance. Bakugo, on the other hand, adjusts his Grenadier Bracers before making his hands burn with explosive energy as he gives his enemy a smug look.
An unseen person shoots a pistol into the sky. Bakugo propels himself with his Explosion Quirk and launches a barrage of fireballs at Yang. She punches the ground to make a tile rise up to shield herself from the explosive barrage. She then strikes the tile towards Bakugo, who attempts to slow down the tile's trajectory with a stream of fire from his hands, but in doing so, ends up creating an explosion that launches him back once the tile comes into contact with him.
Yang rushes towards towards Bakugo and leaps in the air using Ember Celica, arriving right behind the King of Explosion Murder and grabbing his leg before slamming him on the ground. As Bakugo bounces away from the impact, he uses the momentum to launch himself away with Explosion, thwarting Yang's attempt to hit him once more. Yang spins around and sends a series of her own fireballs towards Bakugo, which he avoids by propelling himself with his Quirk.
Bakugo then launches himself in the air and tries to land a Howitzer Impact on the huntress, who dodges and punches a large rock out of the ground which she throws at Bakugo. She then proceeds to punch him three times before kicking him away. She rushes towards Bakugo and pummels him again, but this time, he defends himself from the strikes with his arms, although he is unable to prevent himself from being launched away once more. Finally, he dodges Yang by projecting himself in the air while spinning before thrusting himself downwards and slamming Yang's face to the ground. Bakugo subsequently releases explosive energy on her three times, the third of which sends her flying before she crashes on the ground. As she gets up, her previously confident look changes to a more serious appearance. Bakugo, smug as ever, aims his hand at Yang, who activates her Semblance Burn as she does a clenched fist gesture. Yang runs towards Bakugo one final time, who waits for her to arrive as he prepares to remove the grenade pin from his gauntlet, which is firing up with explosive energy.
Once Yang arrives, Bakugo launches himself upwards and removes the pin, releasing a large stream of explosive energy which incinerates Yang as she screams in pain. Afterwards, Bakugo strikes a confident pose as the screen marks the image of Yang with a red X.
Bakugo removes the pin and releases a large stream of explosive energy, but Yang releases a fireball from her gauntlets which creates a crater that releases chunks of rock from the ground which shield her. She jumps over the crater and hurls herself towards Bakugo, whose smug expression changes to a worried one. Yang then proceeds to pummel him before throwing him towards a wall which he crashes into. The screen marks the image of Bakugo with a red X.
